As a half Japanese, I blend in completely in Japan if I didn't open my mouth. For me, I used largely English to game Japanese girls when I lived there because if I had use Japanese, I would instantly be relegated to the rest of the population and competing with them which is stupid. By speaking English and only speaking Japanese when I absolutely needed to, it gave me the same if not more "foreigner privileges" that would have otherwise alluded me. Your ability to speak the native language shouldnt mean you should game in it, it just means you have an advantage or a plus point. Never game in the native language, no matter how fluent you think you are, you're never quite there with the locals.

Depends on the girl.

If she doesnt speak English, I've found that not being able to speak her language irritates her when I'm trying to express myself with sign language and various erratic gestures.

If I speak the language, I'll try to use the lanugage to game her and practice my language skills

I think it's similar to the lifting analogy.

Are we really reducing learning a new language to whether it's useful for getting pussy or not? I hope not.

In the beginning, I learned Japanese to score with the local girls. But as time went on, it became an enjoyable exercise in and of itself. Over the years, the benefits have been huge and go far beyond merely the financial or sexual.

Instead of regarding studying a foreign language as a painful chore, embrace it - even if you aren't shooting for fluency! It will enrich every aspect of your stay in a country. Trust me on this.

When you are busy it's easy to get lazy. At an absolute minimum, just put in 15 minutes daily if you can. That's still 90 hours per year. It all adds up.

(Note to self: Start taking your Thai studies more seriously.)

I would say that the reason I'm busting ass trying to learn three languages right now is not for gaming. Clearly, English is DHV in most of these places and a way to get them nervously laughing and constantly qualifying to you. What I want is to be able to throw out just enough so I might avoid the worst scams, to better connect with locals in more everyday life scenarios, and get a richer feel for the overall culture when I'm visiting.

i couldn't disagree more, at least for the areas i've visited overseas (EE and mexico/central america). i found i got pretty far with "broken russian game" in the former USSR back before my russian got good. in latin america, most girls just don't speak english so gaming in english wasn't really an option. i've spoken good spanish since i was a teenager, but i imagine broken spanish game would work fine if you're just learning.

maybe it's different in japan.

I'm here living in a 2nd tier Chinese city and know only the extreme basic of phrases. So far I think not knowing the language is playing against me. The dating app I use "tantan" (chinese mainland tinder) more than 80% of my matches are dead in the water because they have 0 knowledge of English.

The one girl I'm seeing speaks terrible English and we have to talk to each other using the translate feature which is annoying.

Every time I travel however and you can speak the local language semi-decent it brings up my results.

I get mixed results from speaking the language in Bangkok. I speak & write fluent Thai but keep gaming my old plates in English.

I've tried speaking only English for 2 months, and only Thai for 2 more months. I've got mixed results.

The advantages of using the local language:
- Access to more girls, especially those who don't speak English
- Ability to daygame / pickup girls anywhere without fear of language barrier (that's priceless)
- Absolutely necessary in order to wife up that hi-so virgin girl
- Better treatment at most places, no cheating

The advantages of just using English:
- Less complaining, since most girls will shut up instead of bothering forming their complaints in English
- Exotic look and more ease with the ThaiFriendly girls, although I'm probably your Eskimo brother

As for the bedtime stuff, you will get the same LMR, so game is required, regardless of what language you speak.

My general thought on that: Every major city, including Bangkok, has a "pool" of girls who are tourist-whores and are easier gamed in English. If you are just passing by, and you're looking for a temporary girlfriend, those girls will be easier to get with English than the local language, but you'll be Eskimo brothers with a big part of RVF. In Thailand, those are the ThaiFriendly girls, who you can simply maintain in rotation without too much problems. However, if you're looking to settle down and get marriage-material girls, you will need proof of ties, and the best one is speaking the local language.

tl;dr Learn the language, but know when to use it.

If they don't speak english and you speak their native language then yes of course you game in their tongue. I was referring to when there was an option of speaking both English or the native language, never try to have the conversations in their language, always use English. It submits them to your frame and you don't have to mentally translate what you want to say before saying it, that's their job. It gets them mentally invested in you and chicks will be more likely to bang when shes put in effort. If it doesn't work, you bounce without killing too much of your brain cells.

Not an easy question but here are my experiences:

Thailand: I think learning a few basic phrases can pay huge dividends. This is because nobody actually respects Thailand (real talk). I don't think I've ever seen any sort of resource on the Internet about actually understanding Thai culture - it's always just about prostitutes and banging sloots. Thus, if you come in knowing a few phrases, people will appreciate it and think you respect Thai culture and aren't just a sex tourist (even if you are). Girls got very excited when I attempted to say a few things in Thai ("oooh... you know Thai??")

Spain, Mexico, other Spanish-speaking countries: Looking completely different (Asian) and speaking good Spanish blew peoples' minds. I think more than anything in these countries, knowing at least a bit of Spanish is essential just because the English levels are so low.

Korea: Most younger Koreans know basic English (not necessarily conversational but like Hi, Hello, How are you) from school and afterschool academy but not speaking Korean can be an easy excuse for them to reject you. As a foreigner, I'd say knowing a bit of Korean would be huge considering how nationalistic Koreans are. With 0 Korean, the only girls you might have a chance with are >some< girls in Itaewon (foreigner district), who >might< speak passable to good English and like foreign dudes.

In general: Even if you will never be considered a native, learning the local language can open more doors (and legs haha). By speaking only English, you usually relegate yourself to only girls who speak English (this pool can be small depending on where you go) and may be less attractive (looks usually do not correlate with smarts or effort needed to learn a foreign language).

This is a fascinating thread. What I've found so far is that you have to figure out the category of the girl. If the girl is the typical hangs out with alot of foreigner, speaks good English types, then speaking the local language can help just slightly to give you a DHV and set you apart from other guys but don't rely on it. If a girl speaks English well, then your game/look/lifestyle/money are the primary determining factors

With locals that don't speak English, it depends on what category they're in:

-don't speak English, but interested in foreigners - this is gold for the language speaker since your competition is limited, but not that common since I've found that girls interested in and seeking out foreigners at least have some English. If you speak the local language well enough for this type then it will definitely help alot.

-don't speak English, xenophobic - this is likely a lost cause and a waste of time unless you get a heavy endorsement from a local or meet through social circle and have enough local wealth/status to compensate for the xenophobia

-don't speak English, neutral on foreigners - if you speak the language a bit then it's likely not enough and she may not make the effort unless your look (through conveying wealth/status or being very good looking) is enough to gain her patience to hear you out. Otherwise you have to blow them away by speaking well enough to make jokes and run game, then they may give you a shot if your game and look is on point and you're an interesting enough person.

Overall have had mixed success. Despite being nearly fluent, pretty much all my success comes with girls who already have some English, they tend to be less xenophobic and more open minded.

Having travelled extensively, the biggest differences that I have found are as follows:

The more extensive your language ability in the country, the more likely you will be able to pull in a greater number of higher SMV women (think 9´s, 10´s). You can still pull them in, just not as many and not as often. The sweet spot with mediocre language ability seems to be in the 6-7 range.

The older (40+) you are, the more important the language skills seem to be (if they do not speak your native language) in order to get the goodies more often with higher SMV women.

With more educated women (think collegiate level), practicing English is like having a piece of gold to trade and they will trade. Often you represent something (culturally) to which they aspire and when you allow them to speak English (because you opened in English to control the frame) they are submitting to you and jumping through one of your hoops.

For those women with minimal or no college education and not speaking the language (even if you are able) can be like honey as they want the foreigner experience and it is exciting for them not to know. This is great for the one or two day fling. You are stimulating them emotionally and they want more of those tingles. Use it to draw them in emotionally as part of the push-pull. The general issue often becomes when not speaking the language with relatively less educated women is that the level of attraction diminishes over time. The higher the SMV of the woman the quicker this happens, that is why it is important to stimulate them emotionally and escalated physically do things that cross the language barrier. Physical activity, whether it is adventuring, exploring, sport, etc. becomes more important.

I would also echo the words about language opening access and the building of a social circle. If you do not do (physical) activities with them, your main conduit will be language.

If you do not speak the language (well), do not be timid as they will sense this and your chances of success diminish because of your frame. Get in the game and approach, strengthen your non-verbal game (especially body language and escalation), practice the language, learn and have some fun with it.

^I agree with NASA Test Pilot. One thing you can do with your language ability is to play a different form of push/pull. When you're talking with a girl who is intrigued by your foreigness, you can make intentional, cutie mistakes with her language to make you seem more different and adorable. Then, at random times, especially when around her social group, suddenly bust out a fluent paragraph or use an idiom or phrase that they don't expect a foreigner to know. If you slip it naturally into the conversation, you can leave them literally speechless and looking at you in amazement. Then, revert back to speaking the language in broken sentences for a few minutes.

Or they just get tired from speaking English (just as you get tired when speaking their language) and move on.

If one of you is much stronger in your second language, communication will naturally gravitate towards that language over time. The only exception I've seen is if their real motive is free English practice. Good English means better job opportunities for most professionals.

I have to say, a small working knowledge in the language was a huuuge game changer for me. Learning a enough language where they can take personal interest in you and try to help you, while you're good enough to understand is like.. so many opportunities to talk and be close.

Plus, learning languages, for the most part, is free and good mental exercise

Looking like a local in latin america (they assume that I am a local with swag), speaking Spanish literally hurts my game. So I usually avoid speaking Spanish to them and I always open them speaking English but once she knows I am a foreigner and I have her phone number then I just speak Spanish to make the conversation easier.

That's certainly possible. That said, I met her at 24, and she'd only had one boyfriend previously and that was a long-distance relationship with an American that never amounted to anything. I checked her social media and email and there weren't any other dudes at least over the past 4-5 years.

She could have gotten plenty of action there in Colombia, thirsty people still hit her up on Facebook.

After reading through here it made me wonder how many of the fluent speakers whose looks could pass for a local in the areas they are trying to game. This could have a massive affect on how you are precieved by the locals.

For example, If you are a latino raised in the US and your spanish sucks while aborad you lose points. The locals will judge you based on how you look like you "should" speak spanish. It's seen more as a personal cultural failure then as a wow factor.

This problem the same if you are asian and speaking an asian language and the list goes on.

In contrast to when my Grino Magic self busts out my mediocre conversational spanish with a half decent accent at the right time it prompts tons of "You speak Spanish!?!" toss a "Claro que si" (basically yeah of course) in there an now you have 50 new friends.

If you actually are fluent fluent you can literally become a celebrity and I'd say a white dude speaking spanish isn't even the craziest of novelties.

I think this has more to do with the fact that so few americans truly every become fluent in a language without some sort of family tie to it so that when you do meet a real deal one people go nuts.

There's a famous white guy in China, and a black dude in Japan, whose entire celebrity is based on the fact that they both speak a language fluently the population deems they "shouldn't be able to speak".

1) Speaking the language fluently

2) Visibly making the effort to learn the language

3) Making it look like you're visibly making an effort to the learn the language.

Because all of the above will get you somewhere.

Being anywhere on the language learning scale will get you somewhere you weren't previously.
