Hanging yourself is an angry gesture, not a sad one. The media should talk more about the possible reasons for why he was angry before focussing on him being sad.

I don't know where I saw this but depression is considered anger turned inwards towards the self.

You hang yourself, it's a violent, hands on act. It's not like taking some pill that knocks your out, and it's not like pulling a trigger. You are going through a lot of set up with something like that.

It's an expression of aggression. I think he was trying to make a point or something.

Stefan Molyneux really gets to the truth about this man's life, he was literally worked to death by the corrupt system. Very interesting and thorough look into this man's life and tragedy. The last 10mins is were he really rips it up and gets emotional too.

At least he did spend 6 decades on this planet earth. You would have thought given his age and the time he's had, he would have resolved the depression tendencies. Was he bi-polar where he has little control over his feelings?

Just heard this on CNN "sources close to Robin Williams said that speculation that he had financial problems is completely off-base"

After this comment, CNN showed a clip accounting the amount of money all of his films had made.

Stefan Molyneux is right on the money. He points that all the money he spent on his divorces could have bought him prostitutes at $1000 a night for 96 years.

It wasn't the divorce that pushed him over the edge, its the shame and getting his ego destroyed by having to take part in roles, TV shows, things he hated but had no choice in doing because he needed the money for the vultures.
He strayed from the path (somewhat out of his control) and paid for it by self-loathing and depression.

It's a pretty special talent to be able to make millions smile and laugh, to be able to provide a bit of light relief to millions who are having a tough day.

He could do it better than anyone. The 'Origin Of Golf' routine still makes me laugh and probably always will. I thank him for that.

I take the same lessons from Heath Ledger, Robin Williams and Philip Seymour Hoffman:
-Money does not fix everything
-Drugs and alcohol are a bad idea
-We're all going some day so don't delay your dreams

I agree with the shitty day jobs having a big role in this.

For instance, Mrs. Doubtfire was arguably one of the most memorable family comedies of the entire 90's decade. It was one of his crowning achievements.

The idea of having to do a sequel, bastardizing and ruining the memory of such a good movie only to make his ex wives rich, not for the artistic integrity. Man. Its not hard to grasp why.

Yeah, but the reason he had to take humiliating roles is because he had to keep paying alimony to those bitches . If not for that, I'm sure he could have semi retired, taking select roles, while maybe downscaling his life a little.

But those bitches and the judge don't care that Robins earnings power diminished over time. He had to keep on the treadmill trying to earn because if he didn't pay them bitches, the judge would throw him in jail.

Take care of those titties for me.

I was banned for 3 days but can now finally post RIP Robin Williams. Ms Doubtfire is one of the funniest movies ever made. His Stand up was pure comedic gold. What a shame. In this country we need to do something about mental health. So many people here are fucked up in the brain (myself included) and pills are just a bandaid solution. Condolences to his family.

While Parkinson's disease may have been a contributing factor I have noticed the mainstream media is dancing around the whole alimony issue pretty hard. It's mentioned in brief but mostly it's being ignored in favor of the "natural depression" or mental illness angle.

Stefan Molyneux's video was a bit melodramatic for me but he was right that the fundamental core issue was him getting divorce raped. He would not have to be working into his 60's or setting himself up for failure if he was financially secure.

The Divorce-Industrial-complex in essence had a gun to the back of his head shouting "Dance monkey, dance!! Earn for these bitches!!" and he had enough.

Stefan Molyneux's video talks about the alimony stuff around 35 minute mark. He blames the ex wives for robbing his talent from the world. He also discusses the details of how Chris Farley died - holy shit no idea.

"Women who are pursuing alimony turn a marriage into a whorehouse."

Fate whispers to the warrior, "You cannot withstand the storm." And the warrior whispers back, "I am the storm."

I love Good Will Hunting above all. It's just a great movie in so many ways. He was perfect in that role. His chemistry with Matt Damon was lovely.

I enjoyed Jumanji when I was little and have faint memories of Mrs Doubtfire.

Good Morning Vietnam always has a real emotional, melancholy effect on me while at the same time making me laugh. It's an intense movie that really plays on your emotions - plus I associate it with my childhood, as my younger brother used to watch it on a daily basis when we were growing up.

I imagine now that effect is going to be amplified knowing that this guy is gone, and how he went.

Would you mind summarizing the part about Chris Farley for those who haven't watched the video?

Rush Limbaugh: Robin Williams killed himself due to 'leftist world view'

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014...lf-due-le/

Quote:Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh argued that Robin Williams committed suicide because of his “leftist world view.”

“What is the left’s world view in general?” Mr. Limbaugh asked listeners. “If you had to attach, not a philosophy, but an attitude to a leftist world view. It’s one of pessimism, and darkness, sadness. They’re never happy, are they?”

Don't agree with the politicization of the man's death, but he has a point.

Best I can do is say go to the 52:15 mark. It is about 90 seconds long.

I don't think the left owns "pessimism, and darkness, sadness" plenty on the right also. But he has to sell himself to his audience to get paid. I am sure Limbauh's drug addiction was due to the fact that he was a happy guy.
