Very true, didn't even think of the elevation differences. I may need to look into that...

I squat in my socks. Same effect as lifting shoes IMO. I don't know how your gym would react to it though. No one has said shit to me but your mileage may vary.

Completely different. Oly lifting shoes have a raised heel that aids in squatting with improved ankle and hip mobility. Lifting in socks/flat shoes has your feet planted completely flat in the ground with a more angled shin when squatting.

I haven't squatted since early february or deadlifted since late march, but today, I did them both.

After deadlifting 3 sets of 10 with a mighty 60kg and another 3x10 goblet squats with a herculean 20kg , my legs are jelly. I'll be lucky if I can sit down tomorrow without wincing in pain.

It's gonna be a loooong road back, but I had to start somewhere.

Tied a PR on push press at 235lbs. Tying it isn't a feat in itself but the fact that I'm 11lbs lighter now than I was when I hit previously was. If I didn't gas myself out hitting that point I think I could have pushed 240. Oh well. 240 here I come next week.

Was doing cable curls the other day, last set of the last exercise of the day. In the middle of my last rep (which I'm struggling to get up), guy walks up to me and waves to get my attention, says something that I can't hear over my music. Lost my concentration and couldn't finish the rep. Pulled my headphones out and asked him what he wanted

"Um, how many sets do you have left?"

Mid-fucking set. Couldn't have waited 5 seconds for me to finish. I've gotta say that's the first time someone actually pissed me off in the gym, just completely ignorant. I don't really care if guys make a lot of noise or drop the weights, but don't interrupt me mid-set.

That would piss me off too. It's always the new gym goers who don't know common courtesy and try to walk in like they own the place. It's also people like this who don't last long in any gym.

I don't know how anybody can walk into the gym thinking their a fucking deity with the power to summon other people off their machines. That pisses me off.

Keep up the good work man, don't pay them fools no mind!

I completely ignore anyone when I'm mid set.

The only thing that gets on my nerves in the gym is people spotting you when you don't want it at the first sign that a rep is hard. I very nearly lost my temper at somebody over that.

I would try the Versaclimber too, after a lifting session, I usually do 10 minutes, it kicks my ass. The best piece of indoor cardio equipment in my opinion.

There are plenty of videos on youtube about this sort of thing but I'd like to hear some ideas from folks here:

Tennis elbow from bench pressing - how do you treat it and how do you stop it from continuing to happen?

I've been getting some pretty debilitating outer-elbow pain my last couple of bench sessions. Generally when I bench heavy; doesn't even need to be high volume. I bench press first thing during my upper body workouts and the elbow pain lasts the rest of the time I'm in the gym. Typically dissipates a few hours later/the next day. I'd love to be able to prevent this going forward.

Anti inflammatories, stretching of all the arm muscles especially the triceps, fish oil, a thorough warm up and a good elbow sleeve.

If I don't proactively treat my elbow tendonitis, I won't be lifting. It is THAT bad.

It also helps to start out with some lighter movements. I also don't lock out my presses anymore.

Try working your extensors more. Rubber bands, reverse curls, pullups

100 rep curl sets with the olympic bar. Seriously high rep curls will do wonderful things for your elbow tendinitis. If I'm doing a heavy press workout, sets of 50 rep curls between each pressing set with something that gives me a pump but doesn't tax my recovery is huge in avoiding tendinitis.

Thanks for the tips guys will start implementing these going forward. Benched again last night and a friend let me borrow some (no so tight fitting) elbow sleeves and it helped a little bit but still had a lot of pain after my second and third working sets.

You will most likely need to take a long break as it goes down, while you PT it. There is so much else you can do in the mean time, including looking for other pushing exercises that dont aggrevate it. If you can press without aggravation, I would try that out.

I also would find a PT doc that will give you cortisone shots to make it go away faster. Thats the real option if you want to heal fast. Mine comes and goes and I have had it for nearly 20 years.

Squatted 3x5x 117.5kg today and feel like exceeding a previous PB of 3x5x 137.5kg from several years ago is very possible soon just by adding 2.5kg each session.

The differences now are that my left knee feels like the kneecap is scraping during the motion. I'm playing around with the stance and angle of my feet. I wear Nike Romaleos so the shoe is all good but I'm trying to angle the toe out further to change the pressure through my knee and fix this while still increasing the weight. I'm getting a bit of discomfort during the motion from heavier sets but it varies.

I also need to clean up my diet too. I still eat a bag of chips when I get home from the gym. I just devour food after a lifting session and more discipline is required. I'm also still drinking a lot of piss. I drink beer every day which is a while different issue.
I'm the heaviest I've ever been ~84-85kg and mid 30's. Started getting a bit of weight around the middle and a bit of a belly which I need to reduce.

I've been adding 10 mins of brisk walking on a treadmill into the end of workouts for cardio. Should I increase that?
I also cycle for about 10mins to and from the gym and the legs feel pretty cooked after squatting.

End of the day weight loss is mostly diet. Rough guess is if you cut the booze you'd see a big difference, but try keeping track of what you eat/drink for a week and work out if you're overeating.

Not that I can talk, I don't keep track. Advice is worth what you paid for it!

I've turned into a curl monkey. Busted out some 45kg BB curls at the end of my session yesterday. CT Fletcher's hateful spirit has possessed me.

I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

"PAIN IS TEMPORARY. LIFT THAT WEIGHT, MAKE YO MUSCLES CRY!"

I love CT, if for nothing else than the comedic effect of what he says. He's one tough MF it seems.

Ps. Damn good lift man. It reminds me I gotta start curling again.

yeah I felt pretty fucking ignorant afterwards lol. I was cheating a bit cause 45 is a lot of weight for me. I used a little english on a few reps, but sometimes it's ok.

Used them for leg day today. The difference for squats was subtle, but I noticed it. Its not something that will fiz your form, but if your 95% of the way there it will help you get that last few percent of hitting depth while keeping youe back straight and not leaned over too far. Nothing that you can't do without chucks and better flexibility, but they do help.

Didn't notice any help on deadlifts, will probably continue to do those barefoot or with chucks.

Damn look at all the hoops that guys have to go through to get Testosterone if they are either low or looking for a boost, compared to this 18 year old girl who decided she wanted to become a boy:

Speaking of joint and muscle pain, I agree with Steelex. I do prehab movements if I see that I really like certain things. I sometimes do shoulders 2x a week, so I do rotator cuff exercises and things so that I don't get hurt. I foam roll my back a few times a week, too. Works like a charm.

Same with chest. It's a good muscle group for me, so I do a lot of stretching throughout the day. I am blessed with strangely strong elbows. I suspect that all the dips I do might somehow hedge against elbow pain in some way.

I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

You know you've been thinking too much about lifting when you see a picture of a 10 and think "WB for reps".
