Tuck is in his mid-30's. That's the point in life where no one really gives a shit where you went to school or what your GPA is. What have you done as an adult?

1. Please. Law school may poorly prepare you for the procedural realities of litigation and do absolutely nothing to prepare you for the business aspects of running a law practice, but any lawyer who tells you it has nothing to do with actual law practice is either talking out his ass or too stupid to reflect on what he learned in the academic world. Law school teaches you how to think, read, and write like a lawyer. Guess what lawyers spend most of their days doing?

2. What Tucker Max has "done with it in the last ten years" is write multiple top-3 NYT bestsellers, including one that hit #1, sold 1,000,000 copies, and stayed on the bestseller list for six years, plus create a media and publishing company that chugged along for several years and launched the careers of several other intelligent writers, like Rob Dobrenski and PhilaLawyer. Yes, his movie was an epic disaster and his fame appears to be gone, but that isn't the sum total of his accomplishments.

3. Neither of those are germane to the original point, which is that to make it through a UChi ("we shit rigor"/"where fun goes to die") econ degree with honors in three years and to get awarded* a full ride to Duke Law means his logical abilities are off the charts.

*This, by the way, is substantially harder than graduating from a t14 school, or getting honors there.

No offense to U Chicago but I'm not impressed by that...I mean, it's economics, not rocket science. That degree is a piece of paper. You have to work to get it but it doesn't actually mean much, mainly it just says that you have effective study habits or you can copy other people's work quickly. Also, if Tucker Max got a full ride to Duke, then why did Duke sue him for $4k in unpaid tuition?

Ultimately, I don't think it matters how many books he has sold. His work isn't literature, it's a bunch of drunken tales that entertain people in a lowest-common-denominator way. No matter how smart you find him, it's hard to deny that he has chosen to dedicate much of his life to writing sex-and-alcohol drivel for a generation of bros.

All fair points lurker. I should have clarified by asking what has he done in the legal field in the last ten years.

I don't disagree that it's difficult to get into a t-20 law school, and it's certainly not for everyone. Hell, it certainly wasn't for me, and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.

But my issue is, what has Tuck done that is honorable and worthy of being proud of? Write a book about drunk one night stands? Lie? Plagiarize? He has a fantastic writing style and is highly intelligent, but personally I judge men on character and contribution rather than grades and popularity.

That seems plausible. I haven't read any of his books or listened to any of his podcasts. Until this thread I didn't even know he had a movie. I based my statement on the accusation that he's repackaging manosphere content and the quote posted in the thread.

Tucker was always a feminist. He never drew any controversial conclusions or made any direct criticisms of feminism or modern society in general. He often mentioned how he was a bad person or emotionally immature (or points to that effect) because of his dealings with women. I get the impression he *always* bought the feminist frame 100%.

Literally in the first couple lines of the wiki entry, it lists that he is a narcissist with NPD and he brags about it. Narcissists are habitual liars, manipulators, etc.

In January 2012, it says that he is leaving behind his degenerate lifestyle and seeking psychotherapy. Then in April 2012, he tried to donate $500k to Planned Parenthood to have an abortion clinic named after him. Leaving the lifestyle behind, eh?

He is a fraud, a liar, and an attention whore. He may have been one of the original manosphere writers but it is clear today that his writings were probably lies, that he lacks principles and that he is an attention whore. I cannot respect a man like that.
