But for an environment to live in for a long period of time, I think Hungary has an adequate concentration of beautiful women if you put some time in and learn some Hungarian and make some local friends, while having better food than the Czech Republic and Parisian style cafes with pleasant outdoor seating, and a more dynamic and interesting urban environment with available space and a fucked up currency. Basically Hungary is still more fucked up than the Czech Republic, and also a mix of more cultural influences and better weather. I think Hungary is charmingly dysfunctional, while the Czech Republic is bordering on becoming sterile. Hotter Czech women, but a cooler Hungarian environment.

I met a chill American-Hungarian guy, in his mid 30s I'd say, a couple of weeks ago who has been coming here for years.

When talking about the girls, he said it's awesome here, but he says it was better 6 or 7 years ago when there were less tourists here. Now that the city is "on the map" girls attitudes have gone down with the flood of horny tourists giving them attention.

I'm getting close to having been in Hungary for 90 days. From what I've read, if you plan on staying longer than 90 days, you need to register with authorities, which includes presenting a signed copy of your lease (I don't have one, using airbnb apartment), showing your bank statements, etc. I'm worried I might have to pay taxes if I register. I want to avoid that headache if possible.

I have an EU Passport, so Schengen Visa isn't an issue for me. I came here on a Wizzair flight from another EU country. There was no passport control when I got here. I've been paying my apartment in cash and I work freelance for clients back in North America. There's barely any trace of me being here.

I'd like to stay for another month, which would bring me up to around 120-125 days here. The American-Hungarian guy I met told me not to worry about it, the authorities here will never even check for this kind of stuff. He said if somehow it does happen, just flash your EU passport and feign ignorance.

I'm curious what any locals think of this? I'd appreciate any insight. I don't want to leave quite yet.

To stay over 90 days you simply have to show a lease and bank statements and that's it??? What do you know about taxes??.... Will they attempt to make you pay taxes?

Not (yet) a local's opinion, but I'd do just as the man suggested. The backup plan is a slight headache - getting a letter attesting to your residence from all your landlords, affirming dates of rent received, etc.

But since there's no financial record and nothing else documenting your entry or coming exit, I think I'd go without.

I'd only use this option in case your final month or departure comes to grief. Otherwise, skip it. Besides - it is a country looking for spending coin, not chasing it away. You're good to stay or go when you want, I believe. (No need to be a "Good German" about the fine points of staying a bit longer.)

Awesome datasheet. The wealth of information is amazing!

During the past week, I got in touch with 5 dedicated PUAs (with both long-term & short-stay plans ranging from semi-permanent to weeks) who are down to game HARD in Budapest.

Some even armed themselves with basic Hungarian phrases to open in Hungarian.

My parents also did a little Euro trip in Spring and visited Budapest. Even they highly recommended the city to me. When my Mom tells me to go to Budapest, I know that she means well.

The secret is out...

Budapest was better in the 90's(when I first visited in 1998 I just could not believe what I saw it was EE at its best) but it has not deteriorated since then so fast like CR or Baltics thatbis why it continues to have its appeal.Mainly it is because Hungarian economy has flopped.

Again, I am pro Hungarian girls but I think a lot of guys are buying into this place as some hidden Mecca. I am not saying this place doesn't have talent, but it is not in your face like other places.
Euro dudes have been hitting this place hard for years (easyjet syndrome).
I also found English levels to be lower than other places I have visited, but the younger generation learn the language more in school.

That`s a good point. I don't think Budapest will get run over à la Prague or à la Baltic style. The challenges of gaming there (harsh rejections, need for thick skin, language & social circle barriers) will keep the masses away.

People who go there via this forum are probably only a miniscule fraction of the plane loads that land in CR or Baltics every day.

Plus I don't think every guy will like the Hungarian flavor. I personally met enough Hungarian girls abroad to know that I like them but some would choose countries like Poland instead of Hungary regardless of the hype.

You are probably right, I know there are tons of lurkers reading this who think Budapest is going to be the new Prague.
I tend to agree with Kamaki, these places hit their peak years ago.

All these places have been played out the point is that staggers and mongers populations are not that big to cover adequately all major destinations(Prague,Baltics capitals,Ibiza,Mayorka,Krakow etc) so there are always places which are left out of them.
Some years they will overflood a place another year they will concentrate in another place relieving the former and changing the second.

In the end, I think in all cities the good will be balanced out by the bad. It's when guys go to cities for short-periods that they get skewed impressions of a place (be it overly positive or overly negative). Especially when they are on vacation and get the added high of being free from their usual daily grind.

From years of experience, I know that Budapest won't be anything to go crazy about after the initial high (or low). It might even be unpleasant at many moments.

Poosy Paradise is worth pursuing only for the process but I think it is just a figment of our imagination...we all gotta come down some time...

I'm no expert on Budapest but I guess it's a swanky address in the center of Budapest and very close to Donau. I would say that it's a good address. As for gaming, most clubs are a little east, south east of that address but it's not more than a 10 to 15 minute walk and there are clubs closer than that as well. So for gaming there are probably slighly better addresses but if you have a nice view over the river and the Buda side of the city that might make up for it.

Look up the building on google street view. I don't think that you will be disappointed. Some buildings in Budapest could look like they were war stricken while the building next door could look really nice.

Metrots don't run at night, limited tram service and then you have night buses. With that address you should be able to walk to most places. If needed at night a short taxi ride shouldn't cost too much.

US$500 doesn't sound like a too bad of a price. It's not cheap for a long term rent but again it's a good address and probably in a nicely maintanted building if you judge by how it looks from the outside. Keep in mind that sometimes utilities are extra.

I don't know about grocery stores in that area. Also don't agree to anything long term if you haven't seen the apartment in person or by someone you trust well.
