I've always thought that mugshots have provided us with some of the most insane and memorable images ever and I've long envisioned the concept of a mugshot hall of fame where the greatest mugshots are enshrined for our contemplation.

Today, there was a New York Times article by some stupid literary bitch about "our love affair with mugshots" and to get her idiocy out of my mind, I decided that it's time to start an official mugshot hall of fame thread.

Post your favorite mugshots here. There should be a lot of good material.

I'll start with two legendary mugshots. The first one is that of Jared Loughner (the Arizona shooter) and it really needs no introduction. To me, it belongs in the inner sanctum of the mugshot hall of fame, sort of like Babe Ruth's record home run bat:



The second one is far more obscure but I saw it months ago and I knew at once it has to go into the mugshot HOF. It is the mugshot of a Florida man (of course) who was arrested for having sex with his pit bull in his yard.

Your image doesn't come through for me but I assume it's this one. Of course it has to be in the HOF although it's not really my kind of mugshot...



EDIT: I see that your image is there now but I'll leave the larger one as a reference copy.

I hesitate to say it, but I feel that some of the mugshots submitted so far, while enjoyable, are not really up to the lofty Mugshot Hall of Fame standards.

Some clown striking a monkey pose in front of the camera does not make for an HOF mugshot. A great mugshot has the quality of unanswerableness, a wildness that cannot be argued with. It leaves one with nothing to say.

And it has to have wattage. Loughner's pic in the OP sets the standard. To look at it is to gaze at a mad sun.

Here is a very minor league Hall of Fame submission. These are the mugshots of a Utah couple where the wife convinced the husband to shoot a neighbor because he had telepathically raped her. Although minor league, it possesses just enough of the qualities needed to make the HOF:



It is the female that really makes it. She has the stare that commands.
