Some folks say eye contact is never an accident. I tend to be very aware of my surroundings and I get a lot of it- on the street, in restaraunts, etc.

If your presence is such that she is compelled to turn her head your way and lock eyes, I consider it an opportunity.

You can clearly tell when you pass a girl and she does that "up and to the other side" looking away thing that she has no interest. Same with girls who don't notice you at all in a bar or other public place.

As General Stalin says you should try and get used to holding your gaze till she looks away first. It's a dominance thing, and even if the effect on a chick is minimal it will help develop your inner game. Do you want to be the type of guy who's natural reaction is to quickly look away when a girl makes eye contact or the guy who meets a challenging gaze and doesn't fucking blink. There's no magic wand but all the little things add up.

A method I sometimes use for practising this is to consciously focus on not looking away when anybody makes eye contact with me whilst walking down the street, it's not a sexual thing, it's purely to try and develop the habit of not looking away when a girl looks me in the eye.

Ever locked eyes with a hot chick and looked away involuntarily because you weren't prepared for it? Me too but it happens a lot less these days - because I've become accustomed to making others look away first I've changed my natural reaction. When this happens now it registers as a small sign of progress.

Agree with this 100% anything is better than up and to the other side.

At you then down is best. Straightforward is neutral. Toward your direction without making direct eye contact is good too she very well maybe checking you out in the corner of her eye and is too afraid for eye contact.

Laser eye contact is not best in all situations. Some thug ass machismo dudes might take it as a challenge and be all "What you eyeballin' me!?". That is where the area gets hairy - eye contact with strange men can be seen as provoking, especially dependent on what area of the world you are in, or what area of that area you are.

I agree. I'm actually usually pretty good at it when I'm the one initiating, but I was caught off guard that time. Also, I already ruled her out in my mind since I have no interest in getting involved with married women.

Good point. You have to choose your environment, I wouldn't go looking for eye contact with dudes in the bar, gym, workplace etc, I'm pretty comfortable holding a gaze walking down the street in the UK however.

If someone looks you in the eye and you look away first it's a sign of submission. If your natural instinct is to glance away when a girl makes eye contact you can guarantee the same reaction when a guy does.

Subconsciously this can't be good for your self confidence and mental strength. I'd wager that this weakness is mirrored in a guys body language and mannerisms.

It's one small area that can be improved.

It's been my experience that women from countries other than America will do this much more often - they will purposefully hold prolonged eye contact so as to leave no question as to their interest - it will clearly be known
