TWIN SISTERS CHARGED WITH PROSTITUTION IN RALEIGH

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Raleigh police have arrested 19-year-old twin sisters on prostitution charges.

Sarah and Katelyn Lothrop - of Bullock in Granville County - were taken into custody Wednesday on Summit Park Drive - a hotel area behind Crabtree Valley Mall.

Both women are charged with aiding and abetting prostitution. Sarah Lothrop was also charged with simple assault.

According to arrest warrants, the twins advertised on a website, posted pictures, and "maintained a dwelling for the purpose of prostitution."

Bond was set at $4,000.

Unlike many others here, I am not diametrically opposed to P4P, legally or morally. I believe that one could be excused for taking advantage of that kind of opportunity. I just think it's counterproductive to make it a habit, but to each their own.

I'm getting tired of this "named and shamed" bullshit.

Thanks to the Internet, if you get busted as a hooker or john, your mugshots are splayed across the Web based just on the accusation.

What if the charges are dropped or they're found not guilty? Their pics are still up. Forever.

This, IMO, is a way the legal system is upending the presumption of innocence. Once you make someone a public figured based on a supposed crime, they're de facto guilty and you've harmed their chances for employment.

If prosecutors and police had any morality, they'd wait until someone is judged and sentenced with a guilty verdict before they released photos. This law needs to be altered for the digital age.

All that said, I'd purposely pay these two just the say "eff you" to law enforcement. I'd probably sit and watch them strip (or something), though, because I'm germ-phobic. Lack of cleanliness is a bigger sin to me than selling your body.
