That is why I say socialism and feminism are related.

Yes, there are socialist societies in this day and age that are not feminist. But they are still miserable places to live.

But in the western world, feminism is strongly aligned with the leftist/socialist political parties. It allows the women to use the govt. as an extortion agent. Men want to work hard and be productive and make money, then they must pay up to the govt. The govt. turns around and pays off women to keep voting them into power.

Food Stamps, Welfare, Child care, special rules and laws to only benefit women. Family courts that rule over 99% in favor of women. On and on.

So now the women no longer need men in their lives and no longer have any reason to respect or appreciate men.

Actually, feminism was promoted in the USSR, but because so many men were killed in WW2 and the ensuing Stalin oppression, women had to take whatever they got. This is the real reason feminism never took hold there.

Towards the later years of the USSR women actually started to gain power again, but once the USSR went bankrupt there was no more social safety net for women and so men got the upper hand again.

Arguing with some of you guys can be like arguing with religious people. Anti-poverty programs do not benefit only women. You telling me ONLY women can be poor?? Are you guys fucking kidding me?? Drive around the ghetto or Appalacia and tell me there aren't lots of poor men. Or kids in crumbling, underfunded schools. Food stamps and welfare aren't there as some genous kickback to women, they are there to make sure we don't have kids walking around begging for food in the streets like you see in 3rd world. Secondly, What feminists champion sitting on their asses collecting public assistance?? Feminists if anything are the opposite of that. They want women in college and going on to careers. Feminism is mainly the territory of affluent, college-educated, urban white women. The least likely women to be on public assistance or need it.

What I know is that hidden inflation is out of control, housing, food, rent, gas is more expensive than ever and wages have not increased in over a generation when adjusted for inflation. Yet all the gains of the economic recover have gone to the top 5% while the jobs being created are mostly low quality and lower paying. We have more wealthy and more poor than we've seen since the Gilded Era. It's a shame the Occupy Wallstreet movement died out, because these are issues that need serious attention. Increasing economic inequality is a sign of something gone awry.

No one said anti-poverty programs only help women. But you would be fooling yourself to believe they help men at even close to the same rate they help women. And to be honest, being that those living under poverty now is at the same % as when the "war on poverty" began, the real question is if the poverty programs truly help anyone or not.

But we all know far and away women and children are the primary beneficiaries of poverty programs, there is no debating this. And if that is the case, who is paying for it? The middle class beta male.

Feminists want women in careers. And how many of these "careers" end up being nothing more than shoveling paper around or playing the role of manager and then subsidizing all the work out everyone else? Do you think companies in a truly free economy would waste their resources on these salaried employees if they were not forced to do so by the govt.?

Of course the cost of living is out of control. That is what happens when our inefficient govt. gets more and more involved. Because no matter what fairy tale our govt. tries to spin, the rest of the world doesn't care. And the rest of the world is who we are competing with on a global economic scale.

And of course the gains have gone to the top 5%. Who do you think owns the govt? The top 5%. Who do you think our govt. works for? The top 5%. And who pays for all those reelection campaigns? The top 5%. So of course as the govt. increases in power the top 5% wins.

So if women are winning and the top 5% are winning, who is losing?

The reason this forum was created. The average middle class male is being crushed out of a life worth living in the western world.

Speakeasy, I am pretty sure you are right that most workers today are women, which is exactly why USA is going broke. It wasn't always this way, men used to be the primary breadwinners and that's why America was rich.

However, now that women are being pushed into the workforce to do worthless service jobs that just moves money around in circles without creating much real value while men are simultaneously pushed out, there is less and less of a middle class to tax. Less men in the workforce also means less innovation, because women rarely invent anything.

Programs to "help the poor," are completely worthless because they do never fix anything. Programs to help the poor have been around since the Roman times. In well over 2000 years, not a single poverty program has been successful.

If anyone is interested in the facts rather than internet haresay or conjecture, here's the link to the actual demographics of Canada data with the major ethnicities in each city from statcanada itself. The information is three years old so things have obviously changed (add another [280,000*3] people through immigration + births-deaths, and population movements within the country). Aboriginal people number 1.4m, they are in their own category and neither considered a visible minority nor white.
