I recently stumbled upon a gem of a movie on Netflix. It is called The Hunt starring Mads Mikkelsen, whom you may recognize from his role as Hannibal Lecter on Hannibal.



The movie is in Danish with subs, but it is well worth wading through.

Without providing too much info, the movie centers around a male kindergarten teacher (played by Mikkelsen) who has the terrible misfortune of being falsely accused of sexual abuse by one of the kids in his class. Mass chaos and pandemonium ensue.

The acting is top notch. Mikkelsen is great as usual. The film provides a realistic portrait of the side effects of such an accusation, which is made more believable since it came from a child.

The forum has mentioned before how a guy's life is ruined even if the claim is false. The film delves into what might be the worst of the worst when it comes to these types of accusations: pedophilia.

An uncomfortable viewing at times, but necessary for any man living in today's society.

Just got done watching it on Netflix. Good movie. Intense.

It says a lot about the state of society. Men are no longer trusted around children. They are viewed with skepticism when they are around children that arent theirs. After watching the movie, it makes you want to avoid being around young children for fear that one could make a false accusation against you. If you are accused of being a pedophile, your life is pretty much never going to be normal again.

It's a tremendous film. One of the best I've seen in recent years.
Mikkelsen is outstanding, as is the actor who plays his teenage son.
Chilling, disturbing and intense.

I haven't seen the movie, but I agree with what you're saying here and though about such things a lot during the Sanduksy stuff at Pennsylvania State University.

I don't want children of my own, but always figured that I could give back by helping coach youth sports and the like. Not now. I've talked to others and some who have/had been involved with Boy Scout troops. Many of them are skeptical about continuing with the volunteer work because it just takes one pissed off kid to ruin your life.

This is unfortunate. I was lucky to have a very supportive father who was always involved in my life and activities, but most boys now do not and will not moving forward. With so many men dropping out of being involved with these kinds of activities (coaching, volunteering), who are kids going to look towards as male role models, to teach them, to push them, etc.?

I feel like we're going to start to see a vary obvious influx of some "bad" behaviors from boys/young men that will directly correlate with men no longer devoting their time to mentoring boys in these capacities.

Holy shit, I just watched this movie. Here are my thoughts:

1. Maybe the Danish have more faith in their legal system and are more forgiving, but in the US it is unthinkable that he would be accepted into normal society, especially in a small town like that.

2. In real life someone in his hunter group or one of his students parents probably would have killed him or he would have killed himself.

3. The little girl in the movie was unbelievably self aware. In real life she would have probably never admitted to lying about the accusation, and with enough prodding, leading questions and unconditional sympathy she would have started to believe the lie herself.

This film was almost worst case scenario, he if he went to prison he would be fucked beyond belief. I walked away from this film thinking that little girls and small children in general are potentially high risk landmines.

This movie really did a number on me. I've worked in youth education. I've been on the receiving end of what amounts to baseless speculative suspicion. While no one made any allegations(because there was nothing to base anything on), one woman's traumatic childhood was enough to make me persona non grata.

If you think this film inaccurately portrays how easily and quickly this can get out of hand, you're dead wrong.

I was living in Sweden when this movie was premiered. There were open discussions in the university about it, as the film was in response to the growing problem of men opting out of roles as educators. Not just in Scandinavia, but in the west as a whole.

I remember Swedish educators were particularly concerned about the generation of boys (and girls) being taught solely by female teachers. They wanted to know what it would take for more men to get back in to education. So this film hit the nail on the head.

We know its a massive problem. Yet what can we do? When discipline stopped and students became more powerful than the teachers is exactly the same time that men stopped entering education.

Its not a coincidence.

I think it's fascinating that both this movie and ones like 'Dennis' have come out of Denmark; ie the country that Roosh has labeled the most feminist with the most masculine women. Seems like the Danes are having their own type of red pill revolt against the matrix within their media and culture.

Incredible film, I didn't quite understand the purpose of the ending where someone took a shot at him while they were out hunting.

Could someone explain this?

I think the implication was that once you are accused of a heinous crime such as this, no matter if you are proven to have been innocent all along, some people will always suspect you are guilty regardless.
So I feel the director was making that point, that to accuse someone of such acts, based on hearsay or rumour, and without evidence, is a truly poisonous deed, as it forever tarnishes the name of that person, even if they are subsequently proven innocent.

I felt it was some White Knighting by the brother. Even though it was him that introduced her to porn, he felt morally superior because he was essentially looked over in his role.

I wonder who killed the guys dog.... Was it the butcher from the grocery store? His best friends kid (brother of the young girl)?
