Why dosn't she flip this awareness into education and raising money for Chrons research? All I see are glossy photos with a girl whom has zero shot (even without the the disease) at being a "model". Let's just call her what she is and leave her disease out of it ..

My heart goes out to anyone that has to walk around with a bag of shit attached to their side for the rest of their life through no fault of their own.

My grandma had cancer and to have one of these to save her life. Could happen to any one of us.

Imagine how that would change your life? You meet some girl, she's feeling you, but you're dreading the moment you have to take your shirt off and explain why you have a bag of feces attached to your side. I truly feel for such people and hope like hell I never have to go through something like that.

Whats weird is all these NEW diseases have only shown up or started happening/ growing rapidly in the west.. / US etc.. and only later comes to the east.. Something to do with messing up food & health?

Autoimmune diseases have seen a serious uptick, but also the methods of diagnosis have also improved. SLE(lupus) has had serious discoveries in the last 3 years that made them change all of the pathology textbooks and when I took pathology last year the professor added 5 hours of lecture just for autoimmune disorders, lupus, UC and Chron's. The short version is this: You get a run of the mill infection, your body's immune system destroys the infected tissue and some health tissue near the infection, the "memory" of your immune system inadvertently now recognizes your "self" tissue as well as the infection and now views both as a threat.

It is more complicated than above, but I tried to make it simple. Usually steroids (prednisone) can stop flare ups but they tend to depress your entire immune system so it is a double edged sword. Autoimmune disorder therapy and Age intervention are hot fields right now and I am angling to get in with a drug company when I graduate. Seems like everyday there is a new discovery or paper published, it is hard to keep up.
