Tips to become cool
Inspired by this thread (courtesy of Soup), I wanted to make a thread helping everyone here become cool. While Soup's is about relative coolness (important), this one is about absolute coolness (just as important but more universal).

Being cool is definitely an important part of game. I'm personally not that cool IRL but all the girls I've banged thought I was cool before I banged them.

I'm pretty sure not everyone here is as cool as they wish they were. But we can all become cooler and better men if we give one another tips on how to become cooler.

Here are a few from me:

1. Be completely self-confident. This makes other people like you intrinsically.
2. Behave like you're more interesting than everyone else around you (not hard in America).
3. Don't supplicate.
4. Don't talk about other people. It makes you seem less cool.

I was going to write 'Don't talk too much' but realized that a lot of players talk a lot in general. At the same time, saying certain things makes you look uncool. Could anyone expand on this?

Edit - Read this post by Soup on the aforementioned thread and agree. Being cool is about moderation. /thread-28945-...#pid553659

Was wondering what you were going to say and once I read I totally agree. Being cool isnt trying to imitate Ryan Gosling in that Steve Carrel movie. Being cool is being you and not apologizing for it or giving a shit what anyone else thinks about that.

If your into Dungeons and Dragons rock that shit snd be proud and you a cool dude. Whats not cool is being fake or trying to be something your not.

Yeah, being cool is similar to being alpha. Some of the coolest guys I know play DOTA when they have nothing to do.

Being cool is about how you behave, not what you do.

Faking it is a good strategy until people realize you're a faker. Then you're seen as being supremely uncool.

An example is hipsters. The most alpha hipsters are the coolest ones. They don't give a fuck about wearing stupid clothes and do what they want. The beta hipsters dress like the alphas but are so smug about it that they become insufferable. You know they're not cool and that they are faking.

The thing is being cool is the most important aspect of becoming alpha. Once you know you are cooler than the girl, it isn't hard to bang her.

I think inner-game hasn't been written on enough. Becoming cool does wonders for your inner game, because coolness is about not giving a fuck. I believe newbies should focus on becoming cool before banging a ton of chicks, since inner game is arguably more important than external game fir just about everything.

RE: Tips to become cool
- Stuff nerds in their lockers (joke)

- Become a person with interesting adventures (bungee jump, skydive, go to cool places, VIP clubs, travel) it will give out that vibe of someone who lives life to the fullest ( cause you are) people can feel you're authentic or not.
- Become a source of pleasure. Be the go to guy for cool parties, cool adventures. Making your own events.
- become exclusive with your social circle, time, and parties. People (especially girls) want what they can't have or have easy access to.
- Hang out with beautiful women (and lots of them) in public.
- live an authentic life and do what you want to do in life. This will make cool whatever you're doing because your value sets trends.
- Game everyone and never get comfortable.

Life is good

Terms like alpha, cool, game, etc. are hard to define. It's best to think of what you want to embody instead of what embodies the term.

If you haven't seen Goodfellas, go watch it. Whenever I feel down on my luck, or whenever I'm about to go somewhere new, or need courage, I think about this scene. No spoilers, for those who haven't seen it.

Henry is straight money in this scene.

I just watch this last weekend, textbook walk in man. Knows all the right people, pulls all the right strings, friendly with everyone, walks in like he owns the damn place, gets front row seating, has friends to his left and his right when they sit down, gets a bottle hooked up, then calmly passes her semi shit test about his hands not being like construction worker hands.

All the culmination of a man who worked his ass off, knew the right people, and could handle a feisty woman (who called him out in an earlier seat standing her up on a date)

OT but that scene is famous for being one long camera shot without any cuts.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

Thought that footage of Henry was secret footage of me walking into Vegas Rhino.

Same effect.

Take care of the right people and they'll take care of you.

You know who doesn't give a fuck about what you think of them, and will keep doing as the God damn well please?

How about this "cool" guy who never gave one fuck to anyone

That's not what "cool" is.

Cool is

____________________________________

1. you look cool

2. you do cool shit

3. the cool shit you do, other people want to do

4. It looks easy as fuck, for you (it's hard as fuck for anyone else, and chances are you have to practice so god damned much and play it off like you don't practice at all)

5. when you do say something, people like what you have to say, most of the time

And the result is that guys want to be you, and women want to be with you.

Think Harrison Ford as Han Solo.
Think Boba Fett.

Don't think Darth Vader or the Palpatine, or even Lando Calrissian.

When people start noticing how hard you have to work, and how shit doesn't end up perfect anymore, you start to lose your cool.

See Obama.

In terms of adding this to your game,

1) You've got to look cool. Somebody out there shares your genetics but makes their shit look cool, and you look cookie cutter.

It might be suiting up, but it might not be. (it doesn't hurt)

2) You've got to be seen by lots of people doing cool shit and doing it well.

Harkens back to the Tao of Steve, but very few men are cool for doing nothing. (plenty are popular, famous, but few are COOL)

3) Keep your cool when folks are trying to bring you down, and never show your hand.

This is something you're already developing by going out and talking to chicks, handling other guys, handling bouncers, bartenders, and door guys, handling your business. These people are dealing with you different, because they're responding to unconscious cues that they pick up from your volume, tone of voice, dress, and body language.

That alone isn't cool though. Your uncle who's been around the block a few times knows what to say to manager to get a good seat.

And you can definitely manufacture cool. We've got billions of dollars aimed at just that. (music, arts, sports, marketing, advertising)

But they play the lottery game. We've got all these ideas, let's try them all and see what works.

You don't have that luxury.

RE: Tips to become cool
WIA's post in this thread is the first to offer anything of substance.

1. Always be playing. Be the guy who is always cracking jokes, being jocular, and teasing or flirting with EVERYONE. Avoid the people with whom you can't get in this frame. If you're teasing someone and they can't handle it, fuck them, abandon ship. If you can make everyone in your world feel good, you will feel good and become cooler over time. Don't wait until you know someone, be playful right from the start.

2. Look good. There are cool people who don't look good, but they are few and far between. People will receive you better when you look good, and that will put you in a better frame of mind. Seeing yourself in the mirror looking slick will make you feel and act cooler too.

3. Be grateful. Show gratitude and thanks to the people who help you out. Don't be an entitled cunt. Show people you're happy to be spending time with them. Always get people back for favors, and always make it up to someone if you do them wrong.

4. Drop your gay ass hobbies, at least for now. Can you be cool playing World of Warcraft and beating off to japanese cartoons? It's possible. But most people in these scenes will be losers with toxic mannerisms that will infect your own demeanor. Minimize your contact with them and find scenes with cooler people that will have a more positive impact on you and make you cooler.

I strongly disagree with the advice to do whatever you like and 'own it.' If you want to be a brony, sure, go home and shove your cock in stuffed animals, but don't expect people to think you're cool. MMORPGs and the like are alternative worlds for people who are losers in the real world.

5. Cultivate a masculine edge. As MikeCF recently said, you should be a little intimidating. If people aren't even a little afraid of you, you might be a pussy. Don't be afraid of a little intensity or even anger from time to time. Lift weights, don't take shit from people, don't treat others with kid gloves, move like you mean it, don't apologize for your ambitions and desires. Don't have a queer voice or queer mannerisms.

6. Find an activity that makes you feel cool and do it. Say, smoke cigars occasionally. Everyone feels a little more macho when they smoke a cigar. Bask in that feeling, let it wash over you, and then cultivate it for all the times you aren't smoking. Save that state of mind, and then recall it through your daily life. You can anchor that same feeling to wearing an accessory that you think is cool, like a sweet leather jacket or a roughed up pair of leather boots and especially, along the same lines, a muscular fit frame. Over time, you become less dependent on these external articles to set your frame, and more just on your own self belief.

7. Don't be thirsty. Don't try to make people laugh or like you. The coolest guys are the ones who try to entertain themselves in conversations with others, and are not out to impress other people. They aren't dependent on your reaction, and it shows in every fiber of their body. They may like you, but they won't feel bad if you don't like them.

8. Be charismatic. Per MikeCF, say to yourself when talking to someone: there's no other place I'd rather be, there's no other person I'd rather see. Look them in the eyes, and don't be afraid to smile. Let them talk about themself, and show interest in them as a person. There's a lot more to this topic and I'm far from an expert on it, so you'll have to research it yourself - some woman research professor recently published a book on how to become charismatic and I hear it's good.

9. Develop good posture. Posture speaks for itself on a very primal level. Before you start doing the cool James Dean slouch thing, learn how to carry yourself like you've got a spine.o

10. Have a strong, resonant, colorful, masculine voice. Don't think you're stuck with the voice you have - many people just aren't using their body correctly to have the best voice possible, and I'm no different. Everyone has room to improve. James Earl Jones could come off as a cool motherfucker just from reading used car ads.

11. Take something from everyone. I hang out with a fair number of guys from the forum, and at least for the guys I've seen more than once, I always see things about them that are worth emulating, certain qualities or hustles that make me stand back and say damn, I need to learn from this dude about this thing. Every moderately cool dude will have a couple of things like this. For instance, I recently went out a couple times with a forum member who is just great at giving positive vibes with girls and being the gregarious, sociable type that can put groups of girls at ease. I immediately noticed it and said, hey, this is something I could learn from, even if I will never be that kind of guy.

Edit: McQueen's list that he linked is terrific too. I like his bit about doing manual labor with guys who will really bust your chops.

I read that book - utter bullshit. Her name is Olivia Fox Cabane. That book is a typical example of a book whose sole purpose is to further the author's speaking career.

The only good part in the book is where she talks about how one's body posture affects one's self-confidence and personality. But that is nothing new, that has been written about a lot of times before.

Crockett in Miami Vice would be my pick for coolest fictional character ever.

I remember watching it being a kid and wanting to emulate him. Never was into star wars or dumb shit like that.

Ignore people and say no.

It gives off an aura of exclusivity.

Being exclusive is cool.
