If we're talking about maxims, it should be acceptable to offer a cliche.

Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men.

PUAs will probably agree with this because it emphasises the importance of recognising one's own failures and weaknesses in order to become successful rather than simply whinging about being unsuccessful, which many people do.
