I think nowadays they'll want a credit card to charge you a monthly fee.

You could probably load up a prepaid card and use that for the recurring monthly payments.

The only problem with that i see is the police tracking your activity electronically.

There is an upper limit on those cards. $500 is the highest I've seen. The re-loadable are slightly better except, if they saw you go online to a pre-paid credit card site they would start looking for a reason why you're going there.

The investigators will be interested in things that interests you.

Walter White in breaking bad buried his cash in plastic drums in the desert. He then figured out the gps coordinates of where it was buried and bought a lottery ticket with those numbers. I guess he reckoned if he had the numbers written on a slip of paper, people would figure out they were coordinates.

Was rewatching Burn Notice, there was an episode where a guy stashed some secret documents in a cemetery.

I like that idea. Convert your cash into gold or possibly diamonds and bury it directly behind a family headstone.

I understand that them agreeing to hold onto your assets could get them charged for abetting a criminal, if assets held in your name were seized.

Bitcoin is too volatile to be a good long term hedge of value. Better luck buying lottery tickets, at least you can wipe your ass with them if something falls through.

Bearer bonds (not personally familiar but the concept is good) geocaching valuables, or, best, bank deposit box in a stable offshore with good banking secrecy and stable political system. I wouldn't count on the heirs to the Castro bros. to give you back your deposits once the country's economy is in the shitter.

As a foreign national with a big bank account, you'll be first in line for the government's cash needs - see Cyprus, and they were modest about it. All they need to do is rubber stamp a law saying all deposits can only be paid out in the (worthless) domestic currency.

I'd burry my loot somewhere very very remote and I'd also hide some in something of sentimental value to my family that they'd never give away or sell but isn't valuable enough to others that they'd steal it. I'm thinking an old antique butcher block that's been in the fam for generations and weighs too much to steal haha

Walter White should have spread the drums around to different locations and bought lottery tickets with all of the GPS coordinates.

Best case scenario, he wins a million dollars. Worst case scenario, someone finds one of the barrels.
