Update:

I recant Joe's being bad for pick up. I have had 2 SNL's from there and more than a few good starting convos with girls. Both girls I pulled were out of towners visiting. Girls visiting here drinking strong drinks at Joe's are looking to get laid. If you can screen for girls that look like visitors it can be gold.

Locals are tougher and will question you more as this is where friends meet up to pre-game and you see people bumping into each other and hugging and all that shit.

Overall visiting Santa Barbara for night game in the summer is not worth it.

I got lucky in late June / early July and got 2 SNLs, 2 weekends in a row from different attractive visiting chicks. And in my gut I knew it was pure luck.

The students are gone. The ratios are worse. The dreg locals come out in greater force it seems.

The end of summer (Aug. til mid Sept.) is the absolute worst.

I got a number tonight and the 23yo 6.5+ tall brunette girl seemed excited who is a local. Not sure what will happen. I've been lucky all summer not going out much.

However if you are really great at street day game State St. tourists are still out during the day, though many times in groups.

Summer Solstice is the only weekend worth visiting in summer. Fiesta this year sucked balls.

Come when UCSB is in full swing on a Thursday or Saturday night. Highly preferable during the first 3 weeks of a quarter.

Don't come in Jan. school is out winter quarter for almost a month starting just before Xmas.

I don't se any guys 40+ out doing pick up on college girls in nightlife. If you are 35 in nightlife there is a good chance you are the oldest or in the top 5 oldest guys in almost any nightlife venue.

Now, there is a huge high end restaurant and wine tasting scene for older people with more money. I don't frequent that scene or know much, it is a large presence downtown though and in pockets of Montecito etc.. you'll see more mid 20s to early 30s crowd often with some family money behind them, and wealthy tourists. That's a local scene I don't bother with. It is expensive to uphold, and seems about family wealth and connections.

I lie as possible young as I can get away with.

I do this because in day game I have already been shrugged because I told the truth about my age.

There was an approach where I said I was 25yo when she was 21yo, she said that is too big of an age difference.

Hit on an 18yo. Said I was 24yo, she thought that was way too old.

Another example is a guy in my social circle just turned 31 (baby face looks). He met an 19yo on at a local row club. He lied to her that it was just hit 25th birthday, and he invited her to the bday party and made his friends keep it secret what his real birthday is.

I think if you can easily lie that you are 27 or maybe 28 you are good in the bars and night game.

I also lie I am thinking about doing a PhD program at UCSB within a year or 2 so they feel like I am a student even though I am not..

The good candidates for 40+ guys interested in SB would really enjoy the local ritzy scene or be a Gio at day game on the college campuses.

Seeking Arrangement Game could be incredible here. If any RVFers are older have the coin and into the SA game. Be sure to see what's the local talent like here. It may be worth pipelining a handful of girls and come here for a long weekend. I sure wouldn't mind if I was an L.A. RVFer building connections with a couple SB chicks and driving up a weekend a month and banging 4 of them haha.

One thing I noticed on a date with a 21yo UCSB girl today is that most students are getting tighter and tighter in money.

I talked to door guy last night, said with the economy 7 years ago the clubs paid for buses to go get UCSB students for free (9mi distance) and the clubs were packed every college Thursday and on some weekends all the way through.

Now since this summer was so slow + repeatedly hearing money concerns from students with middle class purchasing power decreasing with raised tuitions, I feel that the bar scene may have slightly less college girls each year as long as the economy keeps going in this direction. A bunch of girls miss the bus back and pay $30 for an Uber, which is a large amount of money for them.

The upside from my point of view that living near State and having some money to go out make you a treat for younger girls losing purchasing power that wanted to get out of IV once in awhile.

As for where to meet them: daygame on state st, beaches, yoga, I absolutely insist that santa barbara and especially ucsb campus are more daygame venues. The difficulty and bitch shields go up drastically at night. The same girl who will not talk to you at night when you approach her, will be absolutely thrilled to have you talk to her during the day(IF you have your shit together, are athletic, cool threads, and can spit solid game)

I don't see many 25+yo girls out in nightlife, especially attractive ones. When I am at the more 'locals' bars with mid 20 - early 30 crowd I still never see bored chicks standing around unless they are weekend wine tourist, or girl vacations. Even then they aren't easy to extract.

Online seems weak to me so I only go after 23 and under mostly.

I don't see a ton of 23+ talent online anyway, mostly just because there are so few chicks online here period.

there are loads of college women in los angeles. So many colleges: ucla, usc, mt st mary's, loyola, all of the art and film schools, all of the city colleges.

I am trying to broadcast to the board that I believe SB would not be nearly as good as several major cities for older guys going after mid 20s+ girls.

I have experience gaming Cal State Long Beach.

It is a commuter school, like many in LA and the surrounding area. The logisitcs and getting a girl to meet are tougher imo because there are not transplants many have their tight knit high school circle around. Also they have plenty of options for dick and hypergamy in LA.

In SB college girls don't know their full value yet competing against so many attractive girls AND being stranded in IV where they don't have a ton of options when it comes to older guys, guys with status etc...

The is why the special SB bubble offers the best access and probability of girls not flaking due to limited male options and strong female competition.

Re that bolded last part, well, that's the trick these days isn't it? I know Roosh has written a lot about the increasing (mostly unrealistic) demands on men from women and how that list continues to grow i.e. "you can pick up as long as you're top 1% in game, are semi-famous, have major $$$s etc.

So I would not have any false illusions about SB women - it's one of the richest and nicest parts of the country (if not the nicest) so would need to have good game and something special to offer in order to attract a lot of these broads.

Right, that is the key. The girls don't understand their own value when they are in SB, take the same girl, move her to los angeles for a month(maybe a week) and she will become far pickier and entitled because the game favors her so much more.

My point is that hot women mid 20s to mid 30s who have been living in sb for years don't understand their value and would be open to getting gamed by an older guy*(provided that the guy has his game together). Basically, I am agreeing with you are saying about the girls being easier to game, but you are disagreeing with me lol. There is a barbershop literally 200 feet from my front door step.

SB Barbers at 701 Chapala.

I always saw this place from the outside and it looked too thug.

Went in today on a whim, it is a working class, blue collar, tatted up beer drinking group 20s-50s.

The barbers were sure to introduce themselves, one of the barber's was drinking a big Coors, a blue collar late 20s guy with tatts was drinking a craft beer as he got his fade.

Everyone was in on the conversation like a movie about barbershops. It was pretty cool, definitely a rare masculine place.

Last time I got my haircut at Super Cuts it was by a gay twink. This was much better, conversation, experience and all.

I felt 3 points tougher just hanging out there. And it is cheaper than Super Cuts, $17. Go there. I could feel my body language, facial expressions, vocal tone, everything want to be more masculine just hanging there. Good deal.

This may be a prediction that is too soon, but I see UCSB quality of chicks going down slowly but surely over the next few years until maybe a decade into the future it reaches a plateau of being the both the place really smart studious hot chicks (small in numbers as we all know) go to college to be by the beach and all the rest just the back up school for sharp kids that didn't get into UCSD or Berkeley.

Maybe I am crazy, but between last year's Halloween being shut down in IV by cops, Elliot Rodgers, Floatopia banned and moved into Deltopia which also may be locked down and out by cops this year....

On top of all this you have UCSB's admissions requirements reaching higher and higher each year. When I was applying to colleges in 2002 it was the back up party school even non-honors class kids could get into. Now every girl I meet is a 4.0+ GPA best of high school class type chick and things are only getting more competitive.

The UCSB population is starting to slowly remind me of my honors classes in a SoCal high school. Solid majority white with a growing minority of different Asians. The kids get smarter the girls get more plain on average. Yes there are still head turners everyday around campus, but I can feel the shift even from last year.

I went out the first Thursday of the Fall quarter which should jam pack State St. and it was just okay... I will keep reporting back but my gut is telling me this is a start to an end.

UCSB just won some Nobel Prize for I believe an electrical engineer/physics professor that created a new LED light if I am not mistaken. It is rising in stature as a research university and as an undergraduate university.

If I applied to UCSB now with my old high school grades (decent honors class grades and SAT score) I would never get in.

God forbid UCSB turns into UCSD (San Diego). A highly respected research school with tons nerdy plain-looking Asians and Whites that study all the time and barely ever party. At least UCSB is isolated. UCSD is what I would call a 50% commuter school, which will always make it worse, plus its campus looks like Auschwitz painted in beige, plain, spread out, and soulless as fuck. *Shivers*

Your post made me laugh because I remember saying the same thing when I graduated from there 10 years ago, and for much the same reasons. Around that time there were the David Attias murders, the IVFP got way more aggressive in shutting down house parties (floatoapia didn't exist, actually I'm pretty sure me and my friends inadvertently started it but that's another story), there was also back then a significant increase in entrance GPA/SAT averages (GPA avg was 3.8-3.9), and the 4 years I was there 4 (!!!) different professors won Nobel Prizes. Also there were these large dorm buildings which had been privately owned and housed both UCSB and SBCC students; when UCSB bought it up a lot of the SBCC kids didn't have as much of an "in" to the IV social scene, and of course they tended to party the hardest.

I have to say though that over the years I've stopped by occasionally in SB/IV and things look the same to me. Still lots of hot blonde airheads getting trashed. There's probably a few reasons why. I think you're right that the isolation of IV keeps it from changing, it's also the density and compactness of it that make the party scene so strong (if you're a student everyone you know and every house party is at most a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drunken bike ride away). Although UCSB has strong engineering/science departments they aren't nearly as dominant as at UCSD. Also I think the HS GPA numbers are misleading, school standards get lower every year and if you're not retarded and try just a little you can get a high GPA. The cream of the crop nerdy kids will always choose the prestige of Cal/UCLA/UCSD.

So overall I'd say you (hopefully) just experienced a random bad night, and although it might change more eventually, I think it will take a long time for the "party school on the beach" vibe, and everything that it attracts, to disappear.

Gross, Heeger and Kroemer won their Nobel prizes for work they did decades before the award, long before they came to UCSB. Not quite true. UCSB is very strong in physics, stronger than UCSD. It's also good in chemistry. UCSB has arguably the best materials science department in the whole world. UCSB is also a world leader in photonics and control systems.

UCSD is a world leader in communication systems and information theory. Note that Qualcomm was founded by Irwin M. Jacobs, a UCSD professor. Also, UCSD is much stronger in mathematics than UCSB.

I've lived in Santa Barbara for 12 years and been divorced for the last 9 months. I'm 42 but look quite young. I am athletic and women tell me I am very good looking. My game has been steadily improving. I have been very active in night game, online game and wine tasting day game the last 5 months. Here are a few more observations about Santa Barbara...

The wineries have been a very good venue for me. I use them both to pick up and for establishing comfort on a first date. They are way cooler than a cafe and better for establishing comfort than a bar.

The 25-35 range in SB is really tough for a guy my age to crack. I have actually had much better luck with the 20-25 range here, as girls in this age group are just looking for fun and I solve their Older Handsome guy fantasy. The 25-35 girls here tend to have boyfriends and/or be really serious. They aren't out much and when they are, their bitch defenses are high. I have not even made out with a 25-35 year old in SB. Yet I have banged 5 new women in the last month alone, including a very hot 20 year old.

There are a ton of super hot and horny 35-45 year olds here. These women are often divorced with money and are DTF. When I meet a single divorced cougar here, its like shooting fish in a barrel. And I am talking seriously hot and horny!

Nightlife update specifics:

I have enough confidence to rank the 5 top places to find a SNL with a definitive order.

1) Wildcat back patio bar:
Get them at the bar or while they smoke, drag them to the dance floor after a shot.

2) EoS smaller/bar dance floor:
This is a great little bar right next to a dark dance floor that is more intimate. The outdoor patio is filled with douchebags. The big dancefloor is always too loud and crowded.

3) Joe's cafe pre-game hours 9:00-10:30pm:
Hook girls that have already day drank and are looking to hook up almost immediately, take them to a dance floor place get a shot in them, take 'em home.

4) Tonic Club indoor main dancefloor:
Large enough with a bar to manuever, but extremely dark loud and thug... still there are a ton of girls looking to party - though I see them in larger mixed groups more often. Big douchebag vibe as well. The back patio square bar looks like a gem, but I haven't seen any people hooking up much - it is the ultimate place to try and look cool in front of strangers.

5) Indochine the main indoor bar corner vortex right next to the tiny raised dancefloor. The back patio also doesn't offer much (too much seating). Again, talk, get a shot, hit the dance floor.

Everywhere else is just too hit and miss in my opinion and more based on raw luck of being there at the right moment.

That said I know a few finance guys earning good coin my age in Manhattan and are with high 6's low 7's so even then it won't fall in your lap. You still need to hunt down the good niches. In Manhattan walking around the LES and even at 1Oak I wasn't overly impressed. Hard 8's are just fucking rare in America.

You can occasionally find a 9 at the UCSB library or at the UCEN.
