The post: On depression, privilege and online activism.

If you are reading, it is for you. This man wasn't broken by SJA's, but a broken man who found them. He seems to have his identity bolstered by claims of "white male" privilege, providing a temporary illusion of personal power. When this bubble is inevitably burst by claims of "check your privilege" he seems to slink back into impotent depression.

He goes one to say that he liked feminism and social justice at the outset because it provided good rules for being decent people (feminism IS a religion). Does this strike as behavior of good people?

Further, the declarant the author references is right. Feminism isn't about men. It isn't about justice, equality or anything. It is a merely a female scratching post for when things in their life don't go as they planned. It IS about women providing each other space and validation to scream into the existential abyss.

Feminists have decided to lay the world's problems at the feet of men. It shows how they believe men are superior to women, that only through male agency can the problems in their world be solved. What they fail to understand is that only an individual can transcend their personal issues. Other people can render aid, but personal change has to be 100% the decision of an individual.

I find it odd that people view privilege as something they must feel guilty about. Personally I feel that if you find yourself given any kind of leg up in life it's your duty to put it to the best possible use. It's not like you can give that privilege to anybody else. If all you do is sit around and feel guilty or worse purposely hamstring yourself then you have wasted a gift from the universe - and that makes you an asshole.

I noticed he mentioned "geek feminism." I don't even want to start thinking about it, but the worst of the worst of the whiteknights reside on certain videogaming websites. Every discussion or announcement now somehow devolves into talk about privilege and inclusion. This is because most everyone is bitter and sexless. But they didn't used to be bitter, they just used to play games. Even shut-in males are on the feminist bandwagon or complaining about LGBT "issues" nowadays.

The videogame "journalists" are the lowest of all journalists and make their living off of clickbaiting. One of the pioneer videogame blogs, joystiq, is owned by Gawker, and set a tabloid style tone that's only gotten worse and worse. While the "bloggers" thrive on clicks, the reviewers are just mouthpieces for corporations, but I digress.
(I ended up writing a huge diatribe about the videogame culture with links to examples, but it's a little rough and is it's own topic.)

There was a big push for 'gender inclusiveness' that started with bungie game makers enforcing xboxlive bans for misogyny and racial slurs a few years back. It's funny that this became an issue only two years ago when anyone who played online games will tell you that nigger was probably the most used word on the entire service.

Bungie launched their social campaign created by one of halo's female producers, then tasked Microsoft and the rest of the community to enforce those rules across the online service. At least that's what I caught of it.

Yeah, I used to enjoy games in my downtime, but every review seems to be recently turning into why it's wrong to have a male character as the lead etc, to the extent I can see games turning into nothing but political propaganda.

There's a POS called 'Gone Home' that was called 'Game Of The Year' on multiple websites that was the last straw for me, which I'll spoil to save you the trouble, as they said not to learn anything about it going into it.

Short Review

Learn about tolerance and acceptance from people who will call you a cis-het shitlord if you don't find the game very good.

Long Review

It pretends it's a haunted house tale, but it's just about a privileged upper-class white chick hysterically-narrating her boring Young Adult lesbian romance as you pick up household emphemera, in what can barely be considered gameplay, with a couple of hardly-explored subplots about her parents in the background to feebly pretend it's not all about lesbianism. Of course, everyone but the lesbians is reduced to homophobic stereotypes to fuel the persecution complex that drives them and to shape the player's experience to come to the conclusion the author's want them to draw: 'love is love'.

It would be as equally trite and boring if the characters were straight, but, of course, the lesbians and white knights are all pretending this is some kind of amazing fucking art of a level previously-unseen by humanity, and their most common attack is 'It's just too intelligent for dumb people to understand it.'

Apparently, I can juggle all 902 pages of 'Middlemarch', a novel written in 1871, featuring the interlocking narratives of 23 main characters, but the trite girl-meets-girl tale of 'Gone Home' is complex beyond my comprehension. Crack a fucking book sometime, you illiterate rug-munchers.

It's one of the critically highest-scoring games on the aggregate sites, yet hugely-polarising to users, earning toxic user scores until the lesbo brigades desperately-upvoted it, because, let's face it, it's not like SJW's have anything better to do.

Despite being game of the year, it's one of the lowest-played games on the Steam Graphs of any moment in time, having never once broken the top 100. Obviously, it's being pushed for political reasons alone.

If this shit is where games are going, fuck it. It's not like I don't have a tonne of other shit I could be doing.

I actually think this is a good thing for gaming. It'll drive large numbers of men away from it, and hopefully out into the real world to take control of their lives.

So true. These video game journalists are so corrupt nowadays. I mean Gamespot (who has a transgendered journalist) can't go one day without complaining about how their are too few women who are represented appropriately in video games. Ubisoft is the latest target and all of the white knights are clamoring to play as a female lead because as they say, they're tired of playing as men.

I'm pretty passionate about this because I want to work in the industry and to see feminists attacking artists for their creations is getting ridiculous.

I used to frequent certain gaming sites because they talked about GAMES. No politics, no social issues, just an escapist hobby. In the last couple of years there has been a complete takeover on the major site I was a member of, and now it's just SJW and trannies all over the place. I mean there was a thread where it was revealed that about 70% of the members with female-ish names were actually trannies. Now, I don't care if they write about games and contribute to the site. But the point is that they have taken over the subculture and now use these forums to push their agenda at every turn.

So maybe it's a good thing that I don't go there any more. But it's a shame that what used to be nostalgic escapism and enjoyment of the games I grew up with in the 80s has been taken over by a tiny, bitter minority with an agenda simply because they can spend more time typing than normal people.

I have two theories on this:

The first: White Knights have no actual power in their lives, so traditionally-turned to exaggerated male power fantasies to feel powerful. However, this generation are so lacking in masculine role models that they have been indoctrinated to only recognise women as strong and powerful. I can play Lara Croft because I can recognise that she's disciplined, studious, mentally-strong, and fit. Perhaps these low-resilient millennial girls can't find common qualities they share with male characters, because they don't know how to empathise with others to begin with.

No, their social justice isn't empathy to my eyes, it's false concern to be perceived as a 'good person'. They're creepy, intolerant, bilious and judgemental to anyone unlike them. They can't empathise with anyone who has a different opinion to them, only pure, perfect fantasy versions of victim groups. They don't recognise the people they're championing as human, with the flaws that go with the territory.

If this generation didn't experience imaginative play, I'd predict this they would produce largely unlikeable, uncharismatic actors who specialise in playing themselves, to a degree.

White boys are truly screwed, they are told to feel guilty for being a man and on top of that they are told be guilty for being white. Makes me wonder, a woman told the other day how after moving to London she noticed that only black guys would come up to approach her, ask for her number etc on the street. While the white guys would shuffle past, not make any eye contact and make for her when she was walking towards them, with this apology for living attitude. I would say this a recent cultural trend, I couldn't imagine the white guys storming D-Day beach, being scared of some piece of booty walking past them.

One of the things that has to be mentioned is the spread of Reputation Management.
Every major company hires people just to pretend to be consumers now.
It is essentially the corporate arm of "online activism."

It used to be that gaming forums had vocal fanboys, who clung to theories based on lack of (or misunderstanding) of information like clock speeds, fill rate, yadda yadda yadda. Once certain factors became known, systems and games would fall into comfortable tiers and "console wars" would end.

I first ran into hardcore RM on gaming forums following the release of Mass Effect 3. In articulating and critiquing what had gone wrong with the game, really in depth discussions would be met with bile from people who would tell others to "add us to the ignore list" or just try and get us banned. They use "shaming tactics" and dismissive language so you have to take a hard stance. Bottom line was the game was rushed to market, lots of cut content. In fact, they cut the final boss battle from the game during the last 48 hours of development. This resulted in the legendarily terrible ending. The game literally had no climax, and it was the end of a trilogy, ffs.

Any fans of the series could see (or at least sense) that there was a major difference in the quality of the whole game's narrative. The music was bad, the writing was bad, the plot turned to mush. The games media was no help, throwing around phrases like "entitled gamers" and giving glowing reviews to the game across the board.

The marketers would jump at any opportunity to derail valid discussion and spew hyperbole and utter nonsense. They only frequented boards from the same company. They were easy to spot based on frequency of response, type of response, and how often they were on the forum itself. You could mistake them for apologists, but in this case, they certainly were not.
They usually don't even try to deny that they are marketers, they will just disappear from threads when they are outed.

I tried out Instagram last year, only to find that stars like Lady Gaga employ dozens of viral marketers of their own. Gaga's marketing is particularly frightening, as they make profiles PRETENDING TO BE CHILDREN and use bizarre phrases like "Mother Monster saved me." Absolutely fucking sick, if you ask me, but I digress, an adult can quickly tell during an online exchange if a person is an actual child or not. A child however, is likely to be influenced by other "cool" children. These people do double duty of shaping the comment structure and policing tone while pretending to be avid fans.

The reason I mention RM is that it's difficult to separate whiteknights from provocateurs unless you directly argue with them. This guy from the article was involved in "online activism" but make no mistake, there is big money behind brainwashing people via overbearing text.

As for a specific example, Israel offers grants to students who would defend it online.
Not bashing Israel, it is just maybe the most reported on program. I have heard that Obama has "cyber warriors" but have no great evidence about that specifically. Any major leftist blog will likely feature comments from Obama's RM team.

Nowadays, gaming forums are hives of false positivity and disingenuous social commentary from corporate apologists and cultural Marxists.

Harvest moons games were an odd yet very entertaining game where you could farm, marry and sell things. It shouldn't be fun but its easy to sink a 100 hours into the game. You could always marry, and originally it was just women. Not I think you can be a woman and marry guys which is okay. But now their is a big push for gay marriage everywhere. I think we'll see more of these male feminists breaking down.

I don't know about you guys, but I've been keeping a pulse on what's exactly going on in online feminism and they've been pretty ruthless when it comes to scrutinizing male allies in the last few months. I've seen series of articles and tweets brow beating male feminists about how to be a "good ally" which pretty comes down to "shut up and listen" (actual quote I've seen several of these feminists use).

These guys are gluttons for abuse but I can't really see this going on much long without much push back.

There's a blatant hatred for pretty much all things "cis" male (that was painful to type) in that culture. Guys that aren't full-blown male feminists but are sympathetic or at least willing to listen to the opposing side's arguments if they aren't delivered in poisonous screeds get attacked for "tone policing" and those who ask for more information get rebuffed for not doing more of their own research.

If even the useful idiot male feminists are starting to declare that they won't take anymore of this treatment, how are regular guys going to react to the constant hostility being shown to them when they are indicating that they are willing to listen to the other side?

Much like Wutang, I really do think we'll start seeing more and more of the male feminists imploding. The female feminists tend to despise the hell out of these guys and generally only keep them around for emotional support, it seems.
