RE: ‘Rape culture wins’: Feminist freakout after Miss Nevada suggests self defense
Found it ( http://forums.sherdog.com/forums/f12/cur...ex7.html):
Quote:Hillary, what would be the point of reaching effectiveness, you think? Would a mid-level blue woman be able to use her skills? Or you think it takes more than that?
And what kind of size/strength disparity are you talking about here? 105 pound woman against 250 pound, in-shape man, or 150 pound fit woman against 180 pound average strength man?
I'm really curious what you think because I see women at a white belt level easily handling newcomers in the gym, but I also realize that a gym roll is a lot different from a real self-defense scenario.
Quote:Six years into the sport and 145 lbs, I wouldn't bet myself against a 200 lb guy truly trying to hurt me. Even if I was able to control the situation, it wouldn't be without my HP taking a serious hit.
Also this is interesting from her:
Quote:No. Years (closer to decades) if you train hard and effectively. Never if you don't take it seriously and train once a week. Women face a severe biological and physiological barrier that no martial art will "overcome." Either way, a grown ass man attacking you with rage/passion will be an experience you hopefully have never been in before, and will take your ass by surprise. Overconfidence is our worst enemy, fear will keep you aware and keep you safe. I'm a paranoid MFer when I know I'm in a sketchy situation.
The most significant aspect about training that protects women, in my opinion, play out before the attack. Not self defense training moms, but actually athletic women, tend to deter attackers from first glance. The increase in muscle mass (as well as a more "powerful" walk in general) make them look like a less easy target. Most of the dirtbags in life pick on the weak so it's good to try to avoid being in that demographic.* Most of the BJJ folks I see--male or female-- tend to form friendships with their training partners and hang out in groups a bit more.
* Common knowledge and not based on fact, but if stats show bigger folks get attacked more please correct me.

But it's still a pretty long shot.
The most a woman can do is superficial damage with strikes,

Everyone sucks BJJ's dick nowadays. It, like its other sister designed for sport, Judo, is derived from jiu jitsu but with all of the cringe worthy crunchy bits and weapons training removed.
A woman does not need technical grappling, she needs finger locks, pressure points, groin strikes, bites, eye gouges, ear slaps, wrist and ankle locks as well as unarmed knife defense. All of that stuff is removed from BJJ and Judo as its not necessary for sport but is great for self defense.
Much of the dirty stuff isn't taught anymore because teachers are afraid of liability due to idiot students using it or now that MMA is a sport and its 'against the rules' but that is what you need to live if you are 5 ft, 110 pounds and shrill voiced with pointy nails.
edit: Even googling Jiu-Jitsu gets you a BJJ entry not the original japanese jiu jitsu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jujutsu ... I guess I was pretty lucky to train in the original, stabby stabby, bite to escape a headlock style by a japanese sensei.

RE: ‘Rape culture wins’: Feminist freakout after Miss Nevada suggests self defense
Woman's self defense is a joke if a man has an intention to kill or rob a woman. The woman will lose unless help arrives quickly or extreme luck, because killing and robbing requires the man to empower the woman only for a brief moment enough to thrust in a knife, hit her head or pullout her purse. Since a man is much stronger, the probability of this moment taking place approaches 1 exponentially per every second of the struggle.
But if the mans intention is to rape then self defense is very practical. Because rape is hard. A rapist needs to keep the woman subdued for a long time to undress her, keep her legs open while stopping her hands from hitting and cutting with nails and her mouth biting and crying for help. It is very very hard and it is probably impossible to do this and get any significant enjoyment from the coitus. Therefore in peacetime only the most desperate men resort to this and therefore an actual rape is rare.
Since a woman only needs a moment to break loose and run away, leaving the rapist with pants down or for help to arrive, with longer the struggle the probability of woman escaping approaches 1.
In conclusion - women shouldn't naively imagine that self deference equals them with men, but they should know some basics to use in self defense when attacked by a rapist, because it is effective enough to question if it was rape after all if it was not used.

RE: ‘Rape culture wins’: Feminist freakout after Miss Nevada suggests self defense
Come on guys, you've been watching too much TV if you think a 5 foot, 105 pound girl could take on a 170+ pound man and win. Yeah, she might hurt him, but all he has to do is get a hold on one limb and she's dead meat. Women are hilariously weak compared with men, and they are much more fragile.
Just as an example, when my unit was deployed we had a grappling tournament with weight classes. A female captain was up against a pretty small enlisted guy, they were both maybe 135 lb or so. She had awesome technique and easily beat the girls she'd faced before this guy. The guy's technique sucked, but all he did was bowl her over onto her back and grab her with one hand by the throat while she was in the guard and choke her. Even using her legs trying to get him in a triangle choke he was too strong and she submitted in like 20 seconds from the starting bell.
Martial arts training is fine and all, but it's a serious mistake to think it's all that applicable to the real world. Sparring against another martial artist is nothing like fighting someone on the street. Anyone serious about self defense should be spending >90% of their training time learning to use a pistol, not prancing around in a dojo. Of course if you live someplace you can't carry a pistol, well... hope you don't get in a fight, and run if you do, I guess. You're probably better off learning to break holds quickly and practicing your sprinting than trying to become a black belt.
By the way, yes, I used to study karate and grappling. The times I tried stuff like pressure points in the real world, it didn't work for shit. Sure, strikes work and low kicking can be great but joint locks and things like that are very hard to apply to someone who's resisting strenuously. On the other hand, I'm completely confident that 2 to 6 hollow points to the chest will solve 100% of my violent criminal problems, and I don't even need to let them get close enough to carve me up with a switchblade or hope I'm wearing running shoes instead of steel toed boots when it's time to run away.

It made me both laugh and get annoyed, seeing these women take Krav Maga classes back home. They were taking pictures of themselves before and after the class, to put on instagram or twitter, whatever narcissistic shit they use nowadays. Whenever we were sweating and grunting, they would be tutting and acting annoyed. To make matters worse they didn't even try any of the moves out on each other. Instead converting it into some form of yoga. The other woman who turned up, again needed to get all the attention from the main instructor and make him, her personal trainer for the lesson.
There have been some exceptions, women who regularly go and give it all their best and don't expect preferential treatment. But it pisses me off how a lot of them, expect to change a masculine environment.

It is a biological strategy that a couple laws aren't going to wave away. Doesn't matter how many laws you put in place criminals are still going to do their thing.
As many on this forum know self defense/martial arts are a great hobby. You get a good workout, feel more confident and if the situation(any sort of sketchy one) arises you have a better chance of escaping unharmed.
There was an anti rape woman self defense class at my high school. All the girls who went on to go to those ultrafeminests liberal arts schools took it and loved it, so Im not sure where these twitter haters are coming from.
It's a great hobby but not something you fix with a few 1 hour classes. The local karate school teaches kids anti-bullying techniques which is basically shout loudly and put physical space between you and your attacker. It's effective on the playground but won't do anything against an attacker who's persistent.
What really pisses feminists off is equating rape with robbery. They're claiming that it's a whole different ballgame to be raped vs having property taken from you. I'm OK with that point, so I use assault as an example. For instance: when I'm in a bad neighborhood I take precautions. I'm aware of my surroundings. I'm on the lookout for people acting shady. I care a lot more about getting beaten up than I do about losing my wallet, but in certain places you don't know what a guy is after.
The weird thing from the #YesAllWomen stuff is that there are women who believe that they're always in a bad neighborhood and need to act like that all the time. Maybe that's being hysterical, or maybe it's hysteria induced by not having a good sense of what real risks are. I think that most young women have been indoctrinated on "rape culture" for so long that they really believe that their chances of getting raped are 1 in 4.
On top of that, women say that they shouldn't have to take those precautions at all. It would be nice if that were so, but it's not facing the reality. The reality is that there are bad people in the world and you can't wish that away. That's something that's changed. I remember in college a girl freaking out because a friend & I were walking with her through a wooded area at dusk and were fucking around challenged each other to a race and started running. She was mad because we left her in the woods. Her words were literally that she needed to take responsibility for her own safety and she didn't want to be in that place alone. I thought she was acting crazy, but looking back she was at least taking responsibility for her own safety. Girls today insist they shouldn't have to take responsibility for that.
We're in a culture now where so few people are accustomed to actual hardship that they have to invent hardships to feel validated. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that for a woman with that hardship mindset, getting raped is like losing your virginity. If you aren't a "survivor" after a certain age, then you're not part of the club, and the pressure is on to invent a hardship, so consensual sex where the attraction is marginal becomes rape.

Yep the strength deference between a man and an a woman - even those who are around the same size is pretty staggering. There's this chick at one of the gyms I train at that - she's in her early 20s, works hard, and is fairly athletic but she actually gets muscled around a bit by a MIDDLE SCHOOL kid that plays football.
I love BJJ but if someone's main priority is self-defence I would tell them to get a weapon. I love the training, the work-out, and how BJJ keeps me in shape but if those aren't goals for someone then I would say that learning a martial art really is an inefficient way of assault proofing yourself. By my estimate, it would take about a year of training 3 times a week (basically around blue belt level) before I would say a person of average athleticism can confidently defend himself against people random people who are say no more then 15 lbs heavier.

Women do get wet when raped, not dry as one of the posters above suggested. It's so they don't get injured.
As for women fantasising about rape, they're imaging a hot guy, not some ghetto thug. They want to feel desired without feeling like a slut. It's not to be taken as evidence that they don't mind being raped - of course they do.
Another of my regulars recognises that she needs me in order to go to certain places. For example, in London I'll take her somewhere cool in Hackney or Peckham but she wouldn't dream of going there late at night by herself or with a girl friend because she knows that she would be asking for trouble if she did. There's some places girls only go when accompanied by a man.
If she is getting wet while getting "raped" it's not rape. It's the same argument that goes against men as to how we can't get raped by women, if a man isn't hard a woman can't rape him. Are we to believe now that women have no control over if they get wet and aroused? Are women free of that responsibility also? Since women these days can't be blamed or take any control over anything we mis assume that se fat even control the most basic trait of arousal. It's becoming a joke.
If she is wet --> she is aroused, thus =\= Rape.
Go google about how pussys fare after forced entry by legit rapes, it's not a pretty site. They suffer tearing and damage which is part of what a typical rape kit is supposed to check (and what makes them so pricy). This is a biology means as keeping omegas from forcing entry and pregnancy on a woman. A woman will submit to a dominate male but she won't left a weak male get a free nut.
Any Females telling you otherwise is full of shit. Any player knows that when a girl isn't "feeling it" she is a dry as the Sahara. I've seen women in group settings from swinging where one was down, and the other wasn't. Aside from body language, her kitty also tells what as is feeling as it won't be moist enough for sex. Some women are of course different, some have a harder time getting wet.. I get that. But that is the minority and not the majority of young fertile health woman.
When the body is in fear and survival mode the last thing it is doing is ejaculating wetness as mating is far down the list as what is important in the moment at hand. Do you get a boner when your scrapping it out?... No. So don't believe the Femnist rape texts these days as it's a claim they always made which was diffused by old journals back in the days (thrown out since the studies were done by men). Vaginal tearing is a clear sign which is why women whom are legitimately, violently rape are screened for STIs constantly after the fact since the tears make catching something very easy. Many women report not having their pussies feel the same after a legit rape due to tearing.
