I actually get the same reaction too. I think about 5% of everyone gets this reaction. 95% of everyone loves it and it relaxes them, acts as an analgesic and chills them out. i wish it did this to me.

I'm not dumb enough to generalize that my experience with weed is what everyone experiences and consequently, I don't cry wolf like Down. I know that everyone reacts differently to different psychoactive substances, just like with medicine. It's the same thing: some people are allergic to penicillin while most penicillin is a life-saver. Similarly, some people react madly too weed while to most it's great.

But on the whole that piece isn't bad. At least she tried it herself and she's not condemning weed like a lot of pundits, but rather calling for more label warnings, which is rather sensible actually if, for nothing else, as a legal disclaimer against frivolous lawsuits from the suppliers themselves. It's only a matter of time before all class action weed lawsuits become popular.

I've never been able to completely dislike Maureen Dowd even though she's a f'ing annoying bitch.

This is because she is so entirely a woman, and even though she tries to roll with the times, a throwback type -- a witty and gossipy society female who loves men to death. She has always been obsessed with alpha guys, and would be charmed and disarmed by a true player within 5 minutes. She is a woman no better than she should be (great expression, have always loved it) but no worse than these creatures have always been in a certain amiable way. The obligatory feminist chatter truly does not reach very deeply with her. And I believe she was fuckable and probably a decent lay when younger.

Yeah, Michael Douglas was smashing her back in his prime.

I remember 10+ years ago she was lamenting never being married, and how her career probably was the cause. I remember her pointing out that the president at the time (George W) married a librarian and making the point that most powerful men (read: alphas) usually go for subservient women and don't want a "career" woman.

It made me feel proud to be a man, and so Goddam happy I'm not a woman.

I tried these dispensary weed brownies last summer before a Cypress Hill/311 concert. It completely fucked me up, time was going super super slow.

And I was smoking out all weekend out of a little vaporizer and joints before and after that and that just chilled me out, so it was definitely the method of delivery. The pot brownies are super potent and sneak up on you. I had part of one (like 1/4) the next week and went out to dinner, I couldn't even drive my car back home, I had to have my buddy drive it back for me. Again, time was just going super super slow.

This is like when I had to take pain pills for kidney stones and people went insane warning me: they'll make me addicted, they'll make me constipated (ew), and they'll make me puke.

They did none of the above. In fact, they made me feel great.

The moral? We are all biologically different. What affects Maureen Dowd one way might not affect someone else the same way. It's narcissistic to think just because you react to something everyone else will.

Come to think of it, her drug reaction was like her columns. Totally self-absorbed and uninformed that there might be people in the world who have different opinions and experiences that are equally valid.

Maureen has herself to blame for not informing herself of what she was putting in her body before putting it in her body. It is not hard to find out that edible weed has a long onset and can be very overwhelming compared to smoked weed. Also, only an idiot continues to redose before the first dose even hits especially when the substance is unfamiliar to them. So really she only has herself to blame

What a dumb ass. You never EVER start off with an edible first. You smoke first. Edibles are far more potent and take at least 30-45 minutes to feel its effect.

Bitch should have started out with hal of the brownief. She deserved her anxiety attack.

Idiots like this are why legalization is difficult. What she did was like a teenager taking 8 shots in fifteen minute. No wonder you got fucked up.

The crew wanted to show some solidarity, but more than half of us ain't even using it haha. I wanted to make it class of 2014, but there was too much disagreement. So we compromised on 2420, keeps it lighthearted.

Not just you. Same happened to me on my first time trying marijuana--I tripped my balls off, went numb from the legs down, thought time was expanding to infinity, and felt certain I was going to die with a deep dread for eight hours. It was one of the worst experiences of my life.

Does that mean I'm anti-weed? Naw, I'm sure most people do just fine on it. It just ain't for everyone.

I ate almost two entire brownies once big ass ones too, I was so stoned that after like six hours of not even knowing what the fuck was going on I fell asleep and woke up like thirteen hours later.

Took a dump that morning and it smelled like marijuana, pretty cool.
