It's probably just natural genetic drift. Another group that had distinctly European features in a place where it's considered unusual were the Tocharians of ancient China. A lot of central asians (prior to USSR colonization programs) could also end up with very european looking features.

Well the most likely actual homeland of "whites" is probably Central Asian somewhere - Packistan and north.

I read that blond hair is a sign of youth and fertility. I think blonds are actually more fertile than brunettes. They were very popular with the Mongols and the Moors when they invaded Europe. The Huns demanded blond girls every year and I think Attila the Hun died boning one from a ruptured blood vessel.

I personally find the OPs lumping of every 'white' into one group old, tired and ignorant. Is it just American race politics or what?

White people are very different from north to south in Europe, to the east and the west.

Blondes only appear in Nordic countries and most guys in nordic countries think medditeranean looking women are hotter and more exotic. I tend to agree.

The only guys I see obsessing over blondes on the regular are in fact arab, asian and some black dudes, including some real weirdos messaging me asking which cities have the most blondes. It seems to go beyond physical attraction for some. White guys in Europe certainly have no special fetish for blondes.

My guess as to why non whites have a certain affinity for blondes is that fair color is seen as more innocent and that blue eyes and blonde hair is basically the rarest of all eye color and hair color combinations. In a world that is 90% brown hair and brown eyes, then blonde blue haired women are going to stand out.

But that is a thing for non-whites and non-euros.

Not true. Nordic tribes colonized most of Europe, including Portugal and Spain (Visigoths, Suebi, Buri), Italy (Lombards), France (Franks), and even Ukraine and Russia (Varangians). I have met natural blondes in Northern Portugal and Spain, and by "natural" I mean "light blonde, almost white, hair and eyebrows". They are of Nordic ancestry, of course.

No idea how accurate this map is, but it's interesting nonetheless:

I don't wanna throw the race card out but blonde hair and blue eyes are from recessive genes. To get these features you have to do long term selective breeding. Any kind of selective breeding in other animals is considered disireable and creates a pure breed and are therefore more valuable.

In reality though ...blondes can be just as fat and ugly as anyone else. Hey whatever gets your dick hard.

Blond hair is recessive. People place value on rarity.

Personally, while blond hair is, indeed, eye-catching, I find it has little to do with how pretty their faces actually are.

Not knowing advanced genetics, It seems that recessive traits would be expressed in 25% of the population, if half the genes in the population are recessive and half are dominant. 25% doesnt seem that rare.

It's more rare to see this naturally occurring but I always thought blonde hair pairs very well with brown eyes. Most blondes have blue eyes by default.

I'm not a big fan of blue eyes, but dig the "snow white" look with pale skin, black hair and blue(or green)eyes:

I also think blue/green eyes pairs very well with a golden complexion(probably get this a lot in Brazil):

The recessive genes for blue eyes are very rare sub-saharan Africa but there are a few black Africans with natural blue eyes, but to me it looks very weird paired with black skin.

I assumed she was a bottle, but you google her child pics and she had blonde hair. Like noted one of the few with real blonde and brown eyes.

She is almost definitely bottle, looking at the black streaks. . Many blondes go brown when they grow old, so they dye to maintain the color.

RE: Blond Obsession
Steve Sailer has this topic covered on his site and vdare.com it shows how blonde hair gives a false sense of femininity since it works the opposite on men as both Brad Pitt and Arnold Schwarzenegger had to darken their hair to get work in Hollywood.
Hers's this: Hollywood, which knows a lot about this subject, believes that gentlemen prefer blondes. For example, as Diana Moon has pointed out, the marketing of the Oscar-winning movie Chicago treated Renee Zellweger, a blonde who`s a little funny looking, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, a brunette with classic features, as if they were equals in beauty. "The bar is set higher for brunettes," Moon said.

The press typically attributes the popularity of blondeness to the evil monopoly of the WASP elite (or whatever). But that doesn`t make much sense because there`s little demand for blond men. Hollywood, for example, believes that ladies prefer their gentlemen tall, dark, and handsome, a phrase coined by Mae West about Cary Grant. There are dramatically more blonde actresses than actors, because audiences apparently associate darker hair with mature masculinity. In the vast majority of love scenes in movies, the man is darker in hair and skin color than the woman. Actors typically described as blond, such as Leonardo DiCaprio, generally wear their hair much darker than do blonde actresses, such as Meryl Streep or Kate Hudson. Even Conan the Barbarian was played as a brunet by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

http://www.vdare.com/articles/the-blonde-wars

Men as hunters had to blend into the forest as that was their role. Women with blonde hair are natural peacocks as that is their role to attract and motivate the hunter men.
The demand for blondes in the media outstrip their demand in Asia, the Middle East and Latin America because of the reasons Sailer gives above. It is just a different look but in MY experience most blondes take it for granted and end up losing out to women who are actually FEMININE, as femininity is what men really want. I had one friend in WV who told me he could ONLY date blondes. Six months later his girlfriend was a Philippine girl as her femininity totally dominated him. As a Latin guy I had many friends over the years who were infatuated with blondes both guys and girls. The Thor actors largest fan club is from Latin America I saw this in an interview. This shit is real as the media just reacts to what the public wants. They've tried to push stuff in the past that people didn't want like Lambada and indoor soccer so they don't have the kind of power to change what people like and create a taste in something or make something attractive that isn't as they are trying to do now with fat girls.

This is only an advantage in environments that do not tend to get much sunlight (read: Northern Europe). Fairer skin facilitates more ready absorption of vitamin d from sunlight, which enables one to maximize the use of very limited sunlight hours. This is the reason why individuals with darker features are not terribly common among the indigenous peoples of Northern Europe, while fairer features that are rare outside the region (ex: blue eyes) are extremely common. They simply make more sense.

Outside of such places, you do not need fairer features in order to absorb more Vitamin D because sunlight is plentiful. In fact, sunnier environments present the opposite concern: the sun is out so often and shines so severely at times that it is to one's advantage to develop protections against sun exposure. This is what melanin does: with more melanin, people in sunnier climates can get their vitamin D exposure safely with minimal risk of skin damage. They have an advantage over their fairer peers in these climates who have no defense against harsh, extended exposure to intense sunlight. This is why it is rare to see such features occur naturally among peoples indigenous to areas outside of Northern Europe: they simply aren't practical outside of that region.

RE: Blond Obsession
Minorities growing up in the US (and many white americans aswell) tend to be obsessed with Blonde women, but the interesting part of the whole story is that they can't even tell when a woman is naturally blonde or not. The same applies for those groups growing up in nations like Canada,Australia, UK, etc where the culture is quite similar to the states. I have known asians, africans, arabs, etc growing up in europe and they dont seem to experience that issue, they perceive blonde women as just another girl walking down the streets, except maybe some war refugees just arriving in europe who never saw a single blonde in their lives. Most of popular blondes are dyed blondes because media is owned by countries where Natural blondes (in adulthood) are uncommon, such as the US or the UK.

Thats BS map, Uk has far less natural blondes than Germany or Netherland. In Europe nobody is obsessed with blonde hair, its mostly an american thing (or from the "anglo" culture/countries) Well you have Italians ,greeks, etc who like blonde girls but they dont make articles in internet obsessing about that and even giving personality traits to a specific hair color (unlike americans do)

Hi.

I don't buy the idea that the media influences what we are attracted to. If that was the case we'd all be clamoring for ugly and overweight women.

And if anything the media is anti-blonde. They're always portraying the feminine blonde girl as evil and not what the guy really wants. Instead it's the masculine brunette. You see it all the time in movies.

Just my two cents.

There was a poll on GQ few months ago, it said %83 of Italian guys would prefer blondes.

RE: Blond Obsession
I have seen the obsession when I have been out in the past, so I know that it exists. I am more partial to brunettes and redheads myself so I really don't care. Case in point, I knew a girl in college who changed her hair back to a brunette after being a blonde all summer long. She looked completely different with new hair color and I liked her look enough to tell her this. For me in general a blonde girl needs to have a lot more than golden locks to get and keep my attention.

RE: Blond Obsession
Hmm, I'm a blondeaholic. Esp blue or grey eyed ones. But for me, the situation is complex.

Myself, I have very dark black hair (E European black, not Western).
I find I tend to date dark/brown haired women a lot. But, on looks alone, I'd usually choose the blonde.
Altho' when I was very young( say 8/9/10 yrs old), I actually preferred the raven haired type. I wonder what changed when I was say... 11 or so???

However, its not about natural blonde. Because my favourite type is East Slavic. And most of the time, they're bottle blonde.

I'm not sure what the attraction is. I associate brunette especially black haired ones with intelligence, darkness, moodiness even, mysterious and prone to staying in or ruminating. I associate blondes with very good social skills, extrovert, happy, love going out and arranging social stuff. Blonde is also associated with youthfulness and not "demanding to be taken seriously" ("career women"). Blonde is saying "I'm a fucking sex bomb". Brunette is saying "I'm smart, I demand to be respected in my career". Blonde reminds me of the film "The Golden Child" - imagine the ancient world where everyone has black hair, and a mysterious person of mythical powers appears etc etc. I honestly think blondes and brunettes behave differently too - not genetically so much, but in terms of how they are. Blonde also means "I want to spend money on looking hot, appearance is important, I'm not spending all my life climbing the career ladder bullshit like a man".

So part of it to me, is that I associate blondes with certain traits. Also, we are tuned in to want something slightly different from ourselves. Some say thats about people choosing what sort of kids they'd want. But I think that attraction is about finding someone with a "compatible energy". Energy thats the same won't work.

Anyway, thats my theory! haha
