Okc was once the top site for online dating and getting bangs. Not anymore

For some reason I've had some luck very recently with OKC. The women were of good quality (cute face, nice body).

I've been messaging much more due to the whole "visitor" thing being disabled. Been getting responses mainly about how my profile is hilarious and how much they like my one picture in my ugly Christmas sweater.

Had one girl a couple weeks ago show up without meeting and banged her within a couple hours.

Scheduled 2 dates early next week with a little blonde girl and a Latina with big tits.

Guess it's because the weather is getting colder.

Now I guess OkCupid went all out with its latest update. It will now also require the person you message to find you within the “DoubleTake” feature and then they must “Like” you back in order to view your message(s). In other words mutual “Likes” to view any messages.

This will surely protect the little ladies from the evil men, I mean message spammers. This requirement might not be implemented for all just yet but it will.

Welcome to Tinder II.

Ugh, whyyyyy.

The chances of getting results out of OK Cupid have just gone down considerably.

https://theblog.okcupid.com/why-okcupid-...4d492e7853

This is tantamount to Bumble's "women must message first" approach.

So if you need any further evidence that online dating is buckling under the weight of male thirst, that's it.

It just seems like all the dating sites/apps are revising the rules in order to lower the statistical odds any single guy can net a return on his valuable time-investment. Why bother anymore?

Wow they're getting roasted like chestnuts over an open fire in the comment section of that article, everyone thinks it's a shitty idea even the fat pink haired feminists.

OkC has had two options: differentiate themselves to get satisfied customers, or lean towards the Tinder/Bumble product model. They've chosen the latter, which is a bad business move because it waters down their advantages and reduces them to a poorer/more complicated version of the swipe apps.
BadgerHut · 2017-12-12 20:50:00 · #6256
Wow those comments are hysterical...everyone calling out the "do we really have to protect women from shirtless selfies" angle.

If Tinder and OKC are owned by the same company why are they trying to duplicate tinder. Makes absolutely no financial sense.

I believe OkC is owned by match.com, not Tinder. So match has a perverse incentive to drive the OkC user base to their own product by watering it down - although I don't see that working since brands matter and those who like OkC's positioning probably will just leave online dating rather than pay big money for the old standby of match.

Well, we knew this was coming (e.g. mutual likes), but they simply took it a step further than I thought.

"Mona hasn’t liked Kaleb yet, but sees his promoted profile in DoubleTake, Discovery, and Search. She goes to his profile where she sees his message, and decides she likes him, too—once she does, his message appears in her Messages screen." WTF!!!

At this point, they should just rename it OKstupid. Cat lady

Actually looks like match is owned by IAC which owns Tinder, so really makes no sense why they are going this route.

BEFORE: Girl scrolls through messages & profiles of guys who wrote to her, writes back to the ones she likes.
NOW: Girl scrolls through profiles of guys who wrote to her, picks out the ones she likes, sees their message, writes back.

I fail to see how any user's experience is improved. All this does is encourage guys to put even less effort into their messages.

OKC used to have a nice little niche carved out, in that you could stand out from the crowd by writing a funny or clever message that doesn't make you sound like a thirsty idiot. Now the geniuses in charge have decided to remove one of its only redeeming qualities and make it Tinder but with an uglier user base. Welcome to irrelevance.

OKCupid is not demanding that users submit their first names to "add humanity to online dating."

I have a very distinct first name. I'm not interested in participating in this "humanity."

Boy, you guys will bitch about anything, won't you?

Almost every other site/app at this point uses real names. Gone are the days in which online dating was stigmatized, people don't need to hide behind handles anymore.

Just put a fake name or your initials if you don't want to use your real name.

OKC bitches before 2018: Can't see likes, just send me a message!

OKC bitches in 2018+: Can't see messages nor likes, just approach me offline! = #MeToo

OKC doesn't seem to have a problem with putting in your handle as a name. I suppose they might do something if people complained.

I don't like making it easy for women to background-check if I can avoid it. I already had a woman on Hinge question my public posts on Facebook which totally freaked me out because she had to be a hardcore cyberstalker to find it. Really, men get a bad rap for acting inappropriately on dating sites but some women also have their own questionable behaviors.

It is a dumpster fire. I sometimes make an account once a year when I am really bored and see the same profiles over and over again. Girls who use OkCupid tend to be uglier than Tinder Girls. HOWEVER there is sometimes a diamond in the rough. It would be girls 8s and above on OkCupid who dont have social media and very school oriented.

I agree with him though. Out of all the dating sites, OKcupid is the worst.

Is anyone using this app to get laid? I uninstalled years ago as it seemed to have dried up
Borges · 2018-12-20 19:03:00 · #6271
Amazing how this thread went through a whole year without getting bumped. A testament to how much they managed to screw OkCupid up.

Used it a lot a few years ago when first really diving into game, but walked away around 2013/2014 and never looked back. Many available targets but only got sex from some average chicks (although this was years before I had pro pics, a solid profile and stronger text game).

Trolled around with it last while I was on business in Colorado and managed to get out a couple of serial daters who wouldn't fuck (invited them straight to my hotel).

I figured it was almost completely dead these days and haven't been inspired to experiment with it in NYC.

I didn't bump the thread. Someone else did. The post must have got deleted.

Epic. It's finally been revived. Careless posters - shoulda kept the streak goin'. Indeed, the strongest indicator of how that site has finally gone down for good.

Lol I unlocked all the dating apps I've been on multiple times (Td, Bumble, Happn, POF, COCupid), except for OKC! Lower volume and got really unlucky a couple times. That's my goal for 2019 tho lol
