"A year ago, Cearra Swetman was out to dinner with her family when a drunk stranger made a comment about her clothing - a Hooters restaurant t-shirt. Ms.Swetman, who nearly weighed 250 pounds at the time, says that the man cracked, “You don't look like a Hooter's girl I've ever seen.” As WFTX FOX 4 News reports, the Florida woman decided to use that insult as inspiration.

The incident was a tipping point for Ms. Swetman who says, “I didn’t feel attractive, I just felt out of shape and didn’t feel good about myself.” For a year, she worked diligently to lose the weight, with the goal of landing at a job at Hooters. She did just that. Ms. Swetman lost the extra pounds, 128 of them, and got herself a job at a Fort Myers Hooters. The new restaurant job she has is one she’s taking on in addition to her full-time job at BB Glass & Mirror. Ms. Swetman is also working toward a master’s degree.

I agree she still isn't attractive. The video says she cut her hair because her sister is going through cancer treatment as a solidarity thing. Anyway, a "rude" comment sparked her to do something about her health and fitness

She can't really do too much about her face, which is average at best. However, her body looks decent now...nice thin arms. She should be applauded and given lots of positive encouragement to show the other fatties that being thin is rewarded.

No negative words from me. If she takes these steps to make herself look better then it's all good. No my taste, but I am sure some dude out there will think she's hot now that she's thin.

Yes fat shaming actually should help; but not before the hamster spins for a while first (e.g. crying, I can't believe you said that etc.). Once that hamster is tired the real effort should begin. Then the benefits should come.

The more I think about it, the more it disappoints me.

"At least she's not fat" is not acceptable. It puts her on a pedestal just for temporarily beating her addiction to cream cakes.

Fat shaming works 100%. EVERY weight loss story, when it's a female, is due to shaming. Their 'friends' NEVER tell them that they should lose weight, due to reasons discussed at length here.

We should even do positive re-enforcement and give a platform the broads whom lost weight as went back to being thin and feminine. Most would likely say their health and relationships improved once they dropped the weight. Do ROK post a day on one girl and her journey and ask some questions to her and the man about the positive changes.

A perfect way to let the fat hamsters stew in hate.

I agree. We should applaud this woman for taking the initiative to lose weight. Its not that hard. Look at that transformation in only one year. Obese girls have no one else but to blame themselves. All the time they spend whining they could lose all that fat and men might start treating them better.

And skinny girls who use to be fat usually have much lower shields and always a bit insecure. Makes its much easier for the swoop.
