That's funny. They don't portray him that way in the movies. He's just crushing hard on Cyclop's girl. He's more of a white knight always protecting his little girlfriend.

The portray of Wolverine is the worst in any comic to movie adaptation, the personality of Wolverine is shaped a lot by his appearance. In the comics he is short (5'3 tall) which is way below what most men are, Jean Grey is even taller than Wolverine, most super heroes tend to be tall, so he is very abnormal, he has hairy body and is shaped like a mix between a gorilla and a wolf, he also has very rough face.


Cyclops is exactly the opposite, tall handsome good looking with nice smile and nice hair.

Hugh Jackman is just too handsome and tall (6'3) to play Wolverine, in the movies he just get friendzoned, but in the comics is Jean Grey that falls many time for him, the idea is...

Short hairy not good looking guy gets the super hot girl from the leader tall good looking Cyclops, also in the movies Famke Janssen did not have the body or good looks of the comics, at least Hugh Jackman workout to gain muscles for his roles, Famke Jenssen was already 35 when the first movie came out, Jean Grey is supposed to be a hot woman in her 20.

Not really a superhero, but Conan the Barbarian is about as ultra-masculine as it gets.



They toned him down for the movies buy as I understand in the comics if he's not running his sword through an enemy then he's... err... running his "sword" through a...

Maybe this goes back to the original age of comic superheroes, like the 40s-60s, and the comics code, which mandated certain government approved values (though apparently this code was agreed upon by the comics industry as an alternative to gov't intervention):

- Profanity, obscenity, smut, vulgarity, or words or symbols which have acquired undesirable meanings are forbidden.
- Nudity in any form is prohibited, as is indecent or undue exposure.
- Suggestive and salacious illustration or suggestive posture is unacceptable.
- Females shall be drawn realistically without exaggeration of any physical qualities.
- Illicit sex relations are neither to be hinted at nor portrayed. Rape scenes as well as sexual abnormalities are unacceptable.
- Seduction and rape shall never be shown or suggested.

So, back when this thing was in full effect, all the main superheroes (many of whom are still around today: Superman, Batman, Spider Man, the X Men, Avengers, etc.) were not allowed to be players. But they couldn't be completely asexual either, so they had a single love interest who they'd long after (Vicky Vale, Lois Lane, Mary Jane, Jean Grey, etc.)
