Taking a girl to a bar that's also a restaurant
I'm looking for venues to meet up with this chick who gave me her number. But where I live (VA), all of the bars are restaurants. Should I say we're meeting for drinks at bar/restaurant X, and when we get there say we're sitting at the bar? Or am I assuming she'll expect a meal?

You planned the date, right? So sit at the bar. Lead.

Always meet at the bar. Set the date like 8 or 9PM. You don't do dinner dates until after you've banged her.

Exactly. Be sure to say "let's get drinks" and as long as it's post 8pm you're good. Grab a drink and, ideally, bounce to another venue for second drink.

The best dinners are the one after you've hooked up and and everyone's relaxed and hungry.

If she asks why the bar section instead of the restaurant, just reply with:

"I normally don't eat with women unless I fornicate with them first"

Maintain eye contact.

In my past experiences..Mexican food with good margaritas close to other bars for transitioning purposes have been the exception.

I completely agree with everyone as well, sit at the bar, and lead her.

I don't EVER do dinner, just drinks. If a girl asks why, I don't explain myself, I simply say its one of my dating rules. I've never gotten backtalk from it. Also I always make sure I'm facing the entrance and she's facing me, so she is only focused on me and isn't distracted.

I agree with the replies here. I will add though, if you decide you want to get a bite to eat with your date (because YOU want to, not to impress her), then remember to sit on the same side as her. Don't sit across from each other, you can't escalate that way.

"Same-siders" is middle school bullshit. You have to sit across and maintain eye contact. We're mature adults here, right?

I disagree with both. If you're sitting at a "square" table you let her choose her seat and always sit on her left. Just like being in the driver's seat. It's a position of power.

If a square table, of course. Anything but side-by-side.

Okay, despite this kind of being a derail, either can work. It's more about calibrating to your style of game. Myself, I like to be next to the girl so I can touch her, make her lean into me, look at the menu together, point something out and laugh at it together, etc...

I'm not uncomfortable across the table, but usually prefer next to.

Tom Leykis said it best, if you're going to have dinner with a girl (don't, but if you do) then order a salad. I bet you anything she won't order a huge meal, she'll generally order the same level as you or less to not be considered a piggy.
