Crackerjack with its prizes, ding dongs, and Ho Hos were great snacks in the 80's. They don't seem popular now. I don't even think the fatties of today eat Twinkies.

RC Cola was as good as Pepsi and better than Coke. They messed up that business.

Jay's Potato Chips... a box with 2 bags in it. Chicago thing.
Badass tv dinners (and pot pies) back then.

If you didn't have an ice cream truck in your neighborhood during the summer, your childhood was incomplete.

Zayre was the best store for kids in the Midwest and East Coast.

Cinemax (skin-emax) Friday After Dark in the late 80's with those Emmanuelle movies and other ones with Shannon Tweed... FUCK!!! Fond memories for a kid hitting his teenager years then.

I think I'm tapped out with my 1980's childhood memories. I pounded you guys enough.

Some cool 1980's games I remember. Breakdancing on cardboard. Dudes with perms (wtf!). Dudes also had those Tom Selleck mustaches.

Canfield's Swiss Cream Soda was the best soda ever. Only in the Chicago area. Went down so smooth.

stilts. Amazing how much time we spent on those things. Pogosticks.

Our house was on a hill, it was the neighborhood sledding hill. We played a game called Taxi, one person was off the sled, everyone else went down the hill and the sledless kid had to knock someone off their sled and steal it.

Late at night we'd all pile on to a Tobaggan, about 10 kids and someone would pull us around the neighborhood with a snowmachine (snowgo or sled for southerners). Contest to see who could hold on the longest as we got whipped around corners and slammed into snowberms.

There would be giant snowhills were they pushed the snow off the roads, we built all kinds of tunnels and igloo-forts in them.

My dad had a two story shop in the backyard, we'd get a ladder and push all the snow off the roof into a pile and then jump into the pile.

There was a pond down the street with a bunch of frogs in it, we called the frog pond, used to splash around in it trying to catch frogs.

Exploring in the woods, found a dead moose carcass and took our favorite bones as a trophy. Also came across an abandoned lounge/restaurant that had neo-nazi grafitti painted all over the inside.

We got a nintendo when I was 10 but parents wouldn't buy us games. Played duckhunt and Mario constantly, got bored so found new ways to beat mario.... upside down, playing with my toes, etc.

Racing fourwheelers and threewheelers (deathtraps)

neighborhood girl was a freak of the week, her dad must've had the entire penthouse catalog in this "den" area of her house. When he wasn't home we'd all sneak in there and she'd entertain us... all this pre-puberty. some of the games we played... makes me wonder about her. She's a local radio/media personality now

Swimming in the lakes, sometimes on private property. Got shot at by some redneck, another time got attacked by a german shepherd, kicked him as hard as I could in the chest and he ran off yelping.

seems like we were constantly outside until nintendo came along and then that died down a little. Still spent most of the time outside though. We also had legos, lincoln logs, hotwheels/matchbox cars and tracks, etc. but mostly we played outside
