One reason people start forums is so that they can get behind-the-scence sponsorship dollars.

Ever read a bodybuilding message board? Lots of misinformation is handed out to newbies in order to get those kickbacks from the sponsors.

I don't trust any review about a product that costs money that wasn't written by someone who isn't personally vetted. If someone is just an anon and people don't meet him in real life, he's likely on someone's payroll (or he may even be a sock puppet).

Tim Ferriss is a master of this. People are paid to leave comments. Many of those people work in the Philippines or are college kids on Fiverr.

I'm certainly not suggesting you were paid to review Day Bang either, but by your logic: an opinion on the material is only valid if you've written a 500 word review.

I'll write a review sometime if I think it'll help guys, but honestly as I've stated before on here many times there is no better learning material than approaching + repetitions of approaching. A guy who has done 2000 approaches will have learned more than a guy who read every book and article and blog written. That's why I don't write a lot and don't do a lot of book reports.

If I can condense it into a nutshell what I learned from Models: basically I became freer emotionally with women, and instead of handicapping me, it was to my benefit. I used to think of every interaction as a tactician, as one I had to win. I saw everything women did that I didn't like as shit tests, when in fact there are such a myriad of different personalities out there it sometimes takes a minute or 2 before you can vibe with someone. Most importantly I quit giving a fuck about making every set tactically perfect and just began sometimes winging it. Sometimes talking about whatever's on my mind instead of what's supposed to move the interaction forward has paid dividends, especially in guy-heavy environments where every dude in the bar is trying to caveman-direct. Being the opposite of every other guy in the bar. Being open when every other guy is trying to be too cool for school. I agree with what karuser wrote above, it's not a practical step-by-step guide. It's more a guide to clean up your vibe, and that's what I needed at the time and that's how it helped me.

In the real world, you don't pay people like me to review your books. Costs too much. Besides, it's better to have thousands of people posting comments across the web than have a few people post thoughtful reviews.

You pay people to bang out short reviews at $5 each.

Or you pay whole armies of people (what Time Ferrris does) to review your books.

You also have those people upvote reviews you want to appear on top of page and downvote critical reviews.

Again, these are not my ideas or thoughts. I did not just come up with this.

What I wrote is what people in the real world actually do.

No theory, just reality.

I still give him the benefit of the doubt because he has dropped some knowledge on Colombia, posted pictures of himself, posted pictures of women he was getting in Colombia and I believe met up with Westcoast and Scotian.

Just from those things I doubt he is a plant for Manson.

No, they wouldn't necessarily be lengthy if you're talking about spam.

I get a ton of signups on a forum of mine that simply have a link in there profiles. They are trying to get links to their sites for SEO rankings.

They are more interested in bulk and not quality because they know a lot of their posts/links will get deleted. Many of the forum spam is automated as well.

This is why people should take Manson's advice with a grain of salt. He may have good things to say on how to relate to women, but he also has a strong desire to appeal to the average person for the sake of having as many readers as he can. Thus, "feelgood pablum" is added liberally to the underlying points that he is making.

Thanks, good stuff. I'll say that I disagree with Manson on some things, though I think the inner game of Models (not dealing with overly emotional/manipulative women and True Confidence) is very good.

My biggest qualms with the book? His method of approaching artificially suppresses results, and he says that stuff that normal people do is performance. I don't see banter back and forth with women as being a "performance." If you're in a naturally light and playful mood, then you're going to banter back and forth. You're not performing, and she isn't being manipulative. Things like "Can I get a quick opinion on something (that I don't care about)?" are performance. Banter is not performance.

I think he does a good job with storytelling in the book, but I think that the approaching part is questionable at best. He claims a 5% success rate with that, and I think that's kind of amazing.

Why did he try to break the links between him and "Entropy PUA"? Did the latter do anything wrong?

I guess there may be a reasonable explanation for all of the above except the fabricating stories(if you think paying for followers gives you decent profit, you would be stupid not to do it, same for cleaning up your image). No idea why he would do that though. Still, that particular example doesnt scream outrageous, but I will take your word for it.

In fairness, this doesn't seem like a particularly balanced source. Female dating coaches are frauds, yet they sell their wares to unsuspecting men. Women do not love all forms of attention. They love SOME forms of attention. Feeling like a victim is one of them.

But if she dumps you, then there is a 90% chance she isn't going to talk about it afterwards to strangers. To tell her friends, "That guy sucks in bed," or, "I can't believe I slept with that loser," just makes her look slutty. 90% of the time she's not going to say anything. She'll only talk to her friends about why she isn't happy in the relationship, so there will be plenty of shit talking there, but to strangers she will say, "Things didn't work out."

Although Erika is crazy, the odds of her fabricating everything is low. I don't see any other blog entries of hers trashing men she has dated. Just one for "honest" Mark. I find women who develop feelings for you to be more "crazy" compared to women just using men for sex.

It is very different when emotions are part of the equation.

I never said they like all forms of attention. I pointed out that being a victim is a form of attention many do like.

I've read Models and I've also gone through Manson's online course for approach anxiety. His work has unequivocally changed my life for the better.

When I meet women I don't perform; I am totally and brutally honest, vulnerable, and open about what I am. Last Monday I had a date with a girl, I'd say a 7, who works as a model for SuicideGirls. Women find vulnerable men hot and utterly confusing. You see it on their faces. That look that says, "He's telling me about the month he self-injected B-vitamins and starting shitting himself as a result. Why do I want his penis so much?"

All his material is good if you want to be a normal, unstressed guy who has the tools to find girls, talk to them, and sometimes fuck them in the mouth. You do that and spend the rest of your time doing your own thing.

It's not good if you want to be a frenetic PUA obsessed with inner game, hypergamy, lay-counts, micro-behaviors, and chatting endlessly on internet forums and reddits about tips, tricks, techniques, and other irrelevant stuff that won't move the dial.
