I've got a very interesting perspective on Mark Manson simply because I was around WAY before he came on the scene. Mark Manson was NO ONE in the community.. until he banged Erika Awakening. That was his ENTIRE street cred in the community, and he built a following based off that. Remember this is 2009/10ish.. the community was still pretty small and very consolidated on only a couple different message boards. Erika got her start on Rsdnation if anyone remembers that.

Anyway I'm speaking at the 21 Convention in Orlando in 2008 and this "Mark Manson" dude was down in the audience with his pal "Doc Holiday". He apparently later talked shit on my game because he'd caught me "pecking" some chick. Which, for a guy who's all about "natural game" and being "honest", seems a bit overly critical and "pua" to me. But yeah his game has always been very generic and what I would consider to be mediocre. He doesn't believe in "text game" or really "game" at all. He's just a tall mildly good looking frat type who acts aloof and lets girls chase him. Oh and yeah he lives in South America. PFF

Anyway.. Mark Manson launched his dating coach career from banging Erika. Done, and done. That's how he made his entrance. Well interestingly enough, if any of you follow Erika (lol) she came out with a HUGE expose on Mark, saying he'd LIED to her to get in her pants. He told her they were going to get married, have kids, etc. So they banged, and then he took off after a couple months. LOL

Hey.. I know it's going to make some people uncomfortable, maybe even pissed off, but it IS the truth. I was there for it

The fact he lied to her to get in her pants is contrary to everything he's preaching. That's the point and it's pretty clear. But yes as a dating coach for 7+ years, an ex-military officer, and a degree in cognitive science I am making the professional point that his stance on "game" is mediocre.

I've no affiliation to Manson at all except for liking his book but your tale seems to be critical of him for not being well known in the community until he banged some girl. The response is, 'so what?' I see this a lot on the forum I.e people not debating a person's points but focussing on the superficial. It's an indication of a lack of wisdom and development ( not aimed at you Manwhore in particular but as a wider point ).

What is important is the message, always. The way a person looks or dresses or talks etc. is always secondary. Destroy a person's arguments because they are weak or go against your own values but to dismiss someone out right for the way they look or became known etc. is stupidity.

Maybe they're both giving a leg up to the other. If he truly did build a following from banging her, then maybe she got attention for being able to rant about getting screwed over by him...win win. Like starting a fake fight with your buddy just to get attention and show some muscles. Peacocking recognized. Getting an attractive (back in the day) chic to help you on your game...game recognized.

I'd never heard of her before, but I laughed at some snippets from her most recent post titled I want to get married:

Funny, she sees the first level of humor in this, but not the second level, the paradox. "No sex before marriage” is a joke to her, but the beta who would marry her *might actually wait* for sex until marriage. And she'd never allow herself the submission to marry a beta. She'd only have sex with an alpha, who would never settle for her. Self- mis-guided celibacy. God's cruel joke on those less understanding of higher levels of abstraction.



I like Mark's writing, bought his book. He puts out good stuff. I've no doubt any of what his critics say, even if it's all true. Whether they scripted their little scuffle or he really did pump n dump, I can now say...

This is a super old thread, but I'm bumping it because I've spent a lot of time reading Manson's blog of late.

I agree that his advice is not really going to help a complete hardcase newbie suffering from awful social anxiety (this goes for all of his work, not just models). There is very little actionable advice in any of his work on getting out of one's shell. Roosh and even RSD are significantly more helpful in that regard.

After four years of approaching and trying to bang as many girls as possible, however, my goals changed. I realized that getting laid wasn't going to fix a lot of the fundamental insecurities that I still had, and that banging random thots was not how I wanted to spend my free time. Manson's work was a lot more effective at building my "inner game". I find it to be a lot more effective for an LTR, for example, than any ROK article on how to bang 10's.

Both schools of thought are important to learn from in my opinion. Roosh will help you navigate the gritty reality of learning game in the west, but Manson will help you develop a healthy outlook on life.

I've been reading his book lately. I'm pretty insecure as he describes it. However he doesn't give good actionable advice on overcoming I think. Be honest and vulnerable? That's never worked well in the past.
