I know some of you players have experience with this. I keep a stash...of cash. I want to open a bank account, and put it in there so I don't worry about getting my ass robbed and it disappearing.

BUT I need to keep it secret, with no statements coming home, hopefully no fees and a card to access the hard dough. Also, some online access would be nice.

The information is probably buried within some unrelated threads but I couldn't find too much information.

I would use the money overseas at some point. I'm talking about <$1K for now.

So looking for the following factors:

1. Ease of depositing cash
2. Ease of physical ATM access
3. Ease of card access
4. Ease of online access
5. Ease of getting good customer service
6. Ease of card replacement if lost

Nope; opening an account is fine. I just need a way to deposit the cash, access it, and be able to pay for shit online and with a card but without leaving a trail that heads home in the form of a statement.

Not trolling. I know I can open an account and choose "paperless" statements, but the question is if a prepaid card be a better option than a bank debit card based on ease of use and fees.

Tell the bank you dont want a statement just online only or give them a po box, friends address

Almost every bank has a "green" option that allows for paperless statements. However, banks also will send account summaries and policy changes as well. So you need to make sure those are in electronic format as well. You need to find an "e-checking" account...where you're basically not even allowed to use a teller window and have to do everything by ATM. Otherwise, if you don't have direct deposit to that account they will typically charge you a monthly fee.

You could use gift cards, or rechargeable checking cards, or a secured credit card. I would go with the gift cards. They're not as easily traced.

Seems like a "no-fee" account doesn't exist without direct deposit.

This is great. I trolled the first few pages. This book answers the questions that I haven't even asked yet, but inevitably will. Question is how do I buy a book about not being traced without being traced.

Hey man,

Not sure how secretive you have to be with this cash, but if you have a buddy or someone who would let you give them cash and they write you a check, the account below would be great.

1. Ease of depositing cash
If you can get the cash into a check form, you can deposit them via their mobile app. I have done this for years and you can even call customer service and up the mobile deposit limit (think it starts at $1,000) and get it upped to deposits of ($10,000) or possibly more.

I have actually never been to a Schwab bank location and deposited tens of thousands of dollars via my phone without ever meeting a single employee. If you were set on depositing the money in cash form, it could be done at one of their physical locations.

2. Ease of physical ATM access
It works an all ATMs, national and international, and reimburses all fees to you at the end of the month.

3. Ease of card access
They will send you initial card once the account is set up.

4. Ease of online access
Great online portal as well as mobile access. You can also have a trading account linked to the checking account if you are into that stuff.

5. Ease of getting good customer service
They have online or phone customer service that has been superb in my three years with them. A friend has lost his debit card in BKK and they priority-shipped a new one right away. It arrived in two days.

6. Ease of card replacement if lost
See above. Think it took only two days to get to Thailand. He didn't have a personal address of his own but used a friend's.

They send statements, but you could immediately sign up for paperless, get a PO box, or send them to a friend's house for record-keeping purposes. There are no minimum balances nor bullshit "three direct deposits per month" or any of that.

I think if you can convert the cash to check form, this would be the way to go and especially since you would like to take it overseas in the long run and they reimburse foreign ATM fees.

A possibility would be to rent a bank vault, and stash your money there in a safe deposit box instead of opening a bank account and leaving a paper trail.

If you decide to move overseas, then go to the bank, ask them to give you access to the vault, grab your money from the safe deposit box, and take it with you. The bank will record the fact that you rented a vault from date X to date Y, but no one will know what you had there, which means you have plausible deniability.

You may have made that irrelevant by posting such questions on an internet forum, but I imagine J.J. Luna would say have someone less concerned about their privacy order it for you.

That is the best privacy book available. I purchased a copy of the first edition for cash at a bookstore. I also read the third edition from a local library.

OP, your requirements seem very simple. You're not trying to hide your money from the government, just from someone who lives at the same address as you. So basically all you need is another address. You can use your work address, an abandoned house, a friend's address, a mail-forwarding service, etc. The bank may want to know your physical address, but you can still give them a separate postal address for all correspondence.

Also, take Texas' advice on the Schwab account because it comes with one of the best cards for use abroad.

*2 on Schwab. They're my primary bank and broker. Great business, mobile app is handy, and I can use a local bank as a bridge so I can transfer it into their bank.

However to the OP, I would research bank secrecy laws because what your asking is really hard to do without large amounts of money and inside information into how financial transactions are done. With enough money and man power (a government agency) anyone can find out what your financials are.

I had great luck using Schwab ATMs ( I only have like 2K in my account and they ate about $50 in foreign ATM fees) .

However, I did at one point have a problem not really their fault because I kept moving around, and the statements got returned to them.

I think they canceled a debit card, after I got back from Ukraine and wasn't using it) because of that for security concerns.

I think that was because I didn't tell them new addresses however.

I think they're great but make sure your card doesn't get cancelled because you space where they think your address. is.

This one has fees of about $12 a year. I got one. Can fill up at Walmart and uses Moneygram ATMs which appear to be all over the world. Time to hit the travel section.

On the same topic, are there any options for hiding away a secret stash of money to use in the event of a divorce? As we all know, men tend to get screwed pretty hard in divorces. It would be nice to have a nest egg tucked away just in case things go south.

I use an online betting account to hold my secret stash, as it doesn't have any fees or statements.

Also, I stash cash until I get a decent amount ($1000 or more) and then buy gold with it - it's much easier to stash a tiny gold ingot than a wad of notes.

have you looked into crypto-currencies? Putting aside some funds into bitcoin might help you stash the money.

If you reside in the U.S. just open an account in Canada -- and vice versa. If you cannot do that, then open a bank account in a small or regional bank in another state without any offices in your state. Obviously, you need to get electronic statements only and never leave a paper trail back to any accounts in your home state. Obviously, all of this means nothing if you cannot keep your mouth shut -- or if you use a debit card from that bank and then leave it lying about.

You could also just keep cash in a safe deposit box and then transport the money as described above if TSHTF. It is not like you are missing out on high interest rates.

Brings up some good points regarding incentive structures similar to what I mentioned in the thread about "Building a Hustler's Mindset" even though it may be a bit beyond what you're looking for in terms of complexity.
