To the comments related to homosexuality in Islamic countries- When I lived in the Middle East there was a common saying among the populace: “Men are for fun, women are for babies.” A romanesque culture of homosexuality. Especially among the poor and middle class. This makes me wonder can a male homosexual be “Red Pill.” I think the answer is yes looking at some of the prominent homosexuals in the alt right movement and Republican party in the US.

The more relevant question is: does Islamic culture promote independence of thought, self sufficiency, and self respect?

They paid western firms like General Electric for the best infrastructure you can buy. Their oilfields, refinery, and transportation were done by western engineers from Exxon and the like who set it up for them. None of that stuff was invented by their culture but they happened to be the tribe born on those oil reserves when the british chopped up that area. It's not like those spectacular offshore drilling rigs going 30,000 feet into the ground were some sort of arab invention.

No.

The Renaissance started in Italy which coincidentally was the back yard of the Roman empire.

There were people who were standing around looking at rotting infrastructure (aqueducts, the coliseum, ruined palaces, running water which just kept running), latin texts stored in churches, and thought to themselves, "Holy crap! What was here that was so great?"

The knowledge was properly stored by the church and kept by people who were collectors.

There just was a mass collection of people who started to really look at it.

Muslims absolutely had nothing to do with it. The only thing we can thank them for was moving the wealth in both knowledge and material from Constantinople after the Muslim savages surrounded the city and pillaged it.
