Ok soo last night, was like a roller coaster to say the least!

Around 11 i went out to La Puerta, the place i went the other night. I was solo last night. When I get there I grab and beer and post up at the bar. They are playing only salsa which doesnt help me because im no good at it right now. Everyone is in big sets some mixed some not. Add this to the fact im solo, not good enough with my spanish, and cant dance salsa and im starting to get alil discourage. After my fist drink I pussy out and say fuck this im gonna go see what other spots are jumping. (even though there was ample women in bar1)

Just to note most of the nightlife in Santa Marta occurs on and around Calle 17 in centro and around Parque Santander.

Anyways I leave La Puerta and walk up the street and hear reggeaton thumping out of this one club/bar/restaurant. This is def more my steez at the moment and I feel more at home in a place like this esp solo as i can dance to this. So i go in. This place has a nice setup! Its called Matimiba Restuarnt & Bar (once you leave out of La Puerta take a left and its up the street on the right) or something like that. It has two lil areas inside with seating, lighting was pretty good dim but not where you couldnt see. Then they had a nice outside area. I grabbed a beer inside and watch some girls dancing, and just scope out the different sets and determine my moves. I zero in on a 3 set in the corner. After taking 2 shots to loosen me up i make my way over there. I whisper into one of the girls ear's if she would like to dance with me. She turns around looking shocked at first but then smiles and says vamos. This Daddy Yankee song came on and fuck she grinded the shit out of me. After two songs she invited me over to her friends and introduced me. One of the girls spoke decent english (thankgod). Turns out the girls were from Bogota on vacation. Pretty much took turns dancing with them for the nxt couple of hours. After awhile I asked them if they would like to go back to my place and hangout. I realized I didnt have any alcohol and the exito was closed! wtf. One of the grls said she knew where to get some soo we go and buy some liquor and soda off some guy in the street.

So we get back to the house im staying at and I turn on the usual aventura, rakim y ken y, tony dize, plan B, daddy yankee, toby love, furruko, ect pretty much stuff that I know these grls are gonna like! After some drinking and dancing the 2 other grls passed out on the couch. At that time me an my chick was messing around the the internet when I decided it was Go time. I grabbed her hand and walked her to the bedroom. No resistance at all, guess she knew what the deal was. I remb to get my rubber this time! lol cant be raw dogging every other grl in Colombia!

Last night was good, although things worked out good for me. They were not looking good at first. I was being a pussy and on the verge of going home EARLY after leaving the first club after only like 20 minutes.

Im actually going over how to ask girls out for the night and shit right now I I would like to put in some day game and get a date or dates set up for the night.

I havent hooked up with as many grls as I originally planned but with the effort I put in and my level of spanish/confidence I cant complain with my results so far.

Hoping to finish strong tonight, and then tomm when I make my return to Barranquilla. Really hope this guy can let me crash in his apartment bc I dont know if I can be getting a cheap ass hotel in the centro on Barranquilla! lol thats alittle dangerous imo for some white guy like myself!

Just got back from Rodadero! And i want to kick myself for finally checking it out on my last night in Santa Marta! I though Santa Marta was jumping at night! Rodadero kills it! Looked like fucking spring break or something. Shit tons of people with like a party vibe going on ALL OVER the place!

I might have to check my Santa Marta datasheet and look to see which is the best club in Rodadero.

After 5 hours in a bus, 1 hour of that stopped at a random police blockade, i finally made it back to Cartagena.

Went to Minca today with the girl from couch surfing in Santa Marta. Actually rode on the back of her moto! That was wild! Minca is a small lil town in the mountains with some wicked river views and stuff! Def check it out if you have time. Sat night the chick invited me to her home to meet her family and cook for me. After that we went to some club in her barrio. This grl cant dance hip hop for shit! And i cant dance salsa soo it just fucks all that up! lol

Well im back in Cartagena till i leave on wed. Im gotta try and pull one of these pro's from La Dulce Vida for free! I know it can done!

Soo last night I rolled out to La Dulce Vida with 3 brasilian dudes from my hostel. They took me La Candela but there was like only 5 grls in there and old at that. I was like I know of of place that will have alot more girls. We go to La Dulce Vida. Get stopped by police on the way there and get searched. Good thing they didnt try no funny shit!

Anyways once we get there I start chatting up a 19 yrd old from Bogota. Only gonna be in town for two weeks. I get her number and fb account and she says she is going to Elektra later that night. Elektra is the after hours p4p club (3am-5am). I told them I would prob see them there. I was wanting to stay at La Dulce Vida longer but by now the place was thinning out and the brasilians had to head back to the hostel to wake up early.

I decide to go back to. Once we get back I check online for a minute then decide to check out Elektra. At 2am it was still dead. I meet two guys from my home state of North Carolina. The one guy was like ive never seen someone wearing a UNC hat in Colombia and they couldnt believe I was from there and traveling solo. These guys are in 40's i assume. After an hour the ladies start to POUR in! Im getting tugged and ass pinched left and right! I talk to one girl for awhile then I see the girl i meet earlier that night come in. I disengage from Elektra grl and start working on the LDV girl. I got her to meet me at the beach today around 2pm. Hopefully something good happens!

Also the older guys invited me out tonight with them for one of their birthdays. Should be a fun time.

Last day/night & Final Thoughts

I meet the p4p girl from the night before at the beach in Bocagrande stayed out there for a few hours. Then took her out to eat. After that she wanted to go back to my hotel but I reminded her that it was a no go as I was staying at a hostel. I suggested we go back to her apartment, which at first she said no, but after alittle persistence by me she finally agreed to lol. Told her it was my last day in Colombia and I really liked her yada yada. Finally was able to shore out of LDV, although it took 4 visits and a day 2!

I meet the two guys at LDV stayed there for a bit and danced and chatted up a few grls. Then I went to meet my hostel friends at Mr Babilas which was fucking dead as shit! I told everyone from the hostel to meet me at Elektra later that night around 3. As i expected the place got PACKED! Partied the night away with my new friends! Pretty much saw the sun come up!

Colombia has been fun! Awesome place no doubt! Here is some of my final tips and thoughts!

1. Fuck the tourist bs. Yea see and do some of it but def get away and experience the REAL Colombia and its people!
2. Dont ask the taxis how much. They dont use meters and everyone knows the price to every where soo just aska local and hand the cab driver said amount at the conclusion of ur ride! If u ask then they know ur a tourist and will prob try to fuck you.
3. Hit up CouchSurfing and ColombianCupid prior to coming!
4. Cartagena - hit up Castellano area and Mango barrio!
5. Barranquilla - tons of girls and nightlife!
6. Santa Marta - hit up Rodadero and make a lil trip to Minca! Give ur self at the very least all day and preferable 2 - 3 days to really appreciate and experience the park!
7. Lean spanish bc hardly no girls speak english, not even the working girls!
8. During the week go ahead and invest some time trying to swoop the hostel chicks as the cities will be dead in regards to nightlife.
9. As mentioned on here alot, if a girl says to meet somewhere at 9 go ahead and make that 9:30! I waited 30 - 40 everytime for chicks!
10. Dont let any guys (locals) in Cartagena follow you or try to befriend you. They are out for money plain and simple!
11. Buses are cheap and safe. Safety seems like a non issue so long as u use common sense!
12. And last but not least learn SALSA and MERINGUE! Vallanato also!

I wonder if this is why that dork who went by the handle bigmalebootylover, who I had to ether a while back imploded down there. He seemed like he was a real cheapskate and would ask "How much?" to a diver before getting in.

Come to think of it, I don't think I would ever ask that question, probably why I never had problems with cabs down there. Typical case of being cheap costing you more money in the long run.

I remember a while back you going completely bonkers and non-stop posting girls in bikini's or underware that were emailing you from the internet.

For most people it'll take just one look by the taxi driver and he'll know you're a tourist. If you haven't worked out what the fare should be beforehand or didn't ask then you've no recourse if he quotes you a ridicolous price at the end of the journey.

Of course you ask the driver how much the fare is going to be before you get in unless you already know or it's metered. Otherwise they will over charge you 99% of the times and this is the case for almost anywhere in the world. It's good to get an idea of roughly how much a fare should be then if he quotes you a ridicolous price you tell him to forget it and go get someone else. Just getting in and not discussing it makes no sensen unless your sure what the fare will cost and aren't going to pay anymore regardless, it's not about being cheap it's about not getting ripped off and paying the normal price.

Def being cheap will cost you more money. Atleast in that regard with the taxis.

I only found legit girls in Barranquilla from ColombianCupid. Problem was I was only in that city for one night. I meet one of the girls at the mall and went to a movie. But she was unable to hangout that night due to her living far away from the mall area and the safety issue for her to get back along with her 4 brothers making sure she came home in a timely manner. There was like 3-4 other girls I never got the chance to meet as i wanted to go out and try and meet girls on my own that night, which i did and got a ONS out of!

CouchSurfing chicks are not the kind of girls that will be putting out on the first night to a stranger lol. Use them more for connections/intel/lodging/fun. I linked up with 2 girls from couchsurfing. One showed me around Cartagena and the other around Santa Marta. The one in Santa Marta let me stay at her friends house for like 4 nights and drove me to Minca then took me out for some rumba in her barrio.

Remb i said you need to find out the price from a local prior to getting in the taxi. So a cab from centro to bocagrande in cartagena is 5 pesos. Everyone knows this. So at the end of the ride you hand the driver the 5 pesos and exit the vehicle. If he tries to tell you more than u tell him to fuckoff and go about ur business. So like i said on the carib coast of Colombia just ask a local how much to go somewhere cost. Never ask the cab driver.

for all those reading this who are interested in cities other then cartagena, santa marta, baranquilla, please keep in mind that any cultural mores- whether taxis, women, whatever may apply only to those places. cabs are far different in bogota (here now) as are many, many things.

Real time field reports would make not only make a person slightly more accountablable, having to report the good or bad, but also less likelt to develop, say, selective memory over what really went down.

You also in effect get real time coaching from the community, pointing out do,s and donts, as oppose to weeks later, fielding a question
