I started using RU58841 almost 2 months ago, propecia was working fine for me for a long time but suddenly my boners and libido took a nosedive. I had my T levels measured and they were pretty low, I stopped taking the tabs and shedding came shortly after. I bought 5 grams of RU58841, mixed some in with Lipogaine (minox) and I apply it in the mornings and evenings after using a dermaroller on my scalp. In the meantime shedding has stopped, libido and boners are back and looks like there is is some regrowth.
My last blood test showed a decent increase in my T levels.

My routine is the RU58841/Lipogaine combo, nettle root powder and I also use a lasercomb.

Brisey, what is the length of the dermaroller needles? I am seeing people talk from .5mm to 1.5mm wondering if shorter is still as effective.

I can't seem to find a study that says, I did dermaroller plus minox for X weeks and this is what happened.

Looks like your head can get pretty bloody from using it.

Anyone else using a dermaroller?

I'm using the 1.5mm, it can get a little bit red but i've never had any bleeding.
I read somewhere that the shorter models are good for fine lines your face but i've yet to try it out.

From what I've read, use a 0.5 mm dermaroller for daily topical application of Minox, rogain, etc. Anything longer than that and you have to reduce the frequency of the dermarolling to allow your skin to heal properly. Dermarolling with larger needles, 1.0 mm to 1.5 mm (which is as high as I'd go, anything larger is more for breaking down scar tissue), should be done once every 6 weeks or so. That allows for the collagen to effectively heal. Otherwise , it's kind of like reopening a wound that hasn't healed every time you roll. Larger needles -> less is more.

I recently started dermarolling with a 0.5 mm and applying castor oil to my scalp before bed every 2 days. Also taking biotin. Not sure if it's working, but I have noticed tiny hairs sprouting on my frontal scalp, but that's it. They remain tiny, nothing significant so far. Doing this for preventative measures as I haven't gone bald yet but my hairline has receded significantly over the years.

Thought I'd bump this- I have a 2 part question which I think will be of interest to other members as well.

Since it received some positive comments on this site, I rather impulsively ordered a 3 month supply of Lipogaine. (Just the intensive treatment, no shampoo)



I wouldn't say I'm balding, but hair has receded somewhat and become noticeably thinner in the front, and to a lesser extent the top. (thought I was imagining things until I got a comment about it during my last haircut) My choice to use this product is kind of a preemptive strike- it's not really a problem now, but I can see it becoming a problem a few years down the road.

My current plan is to experiment with it for 6 months and see how it works.

1st Part: It is my understanding Lipogaine works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone into DHT, which is believed to cause hair loss. Have those of you who have used it noticed any drop in libido, or other undesirable side effects?

2nd Part: Like many guys here, I've had positive results with zinc supplementation to boost testosterone. Does using zinc (or any other T-boosting regimen) negate the effects of Lipogaine, or vice versa? Is it counter-productive to be doing this?

Throwing another variable like zinc into the experiment could alter the results, and I'm curious if anyone here has already done this.

Again as you can see, my hair loss is not that severe- I'm fine with the way I look now, I just don't want it to get any thinner.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

start with 25mg a day.

most will need 50mg-100mg to REALLY SEE a significant decline in shedding.

I have been taking finasteride for about 3 years. The hair loss stopped and actually grew a lot of hair back. I have not had any noticeable side effects. I read that the drug works better if you have a lot of body hair. I'm not sure about the veracity of this but I'm thanking my hairy Italian ancestors.

Good to know. I think I am definitely going to get propecia now. I have a couple of friends also taking it and they haven't experienced any side effects. I have been losing hair for about 6+ months now but it's still not that noticeable or that bad. I mean the hairline is receding from the sides like it starts for most but with long enough hair it's barely noticeable. I figure if I start now it will slow down my daily shedding in the shower. I have already reduced my usage of hair gel and shampoo quite a bit, hopefully propecia slows down the shedding. If I can simply maintain what I have currently for the next few years I will be more than satisfied (I am in my mid-20s).

Nip it in the bud and you will actually have a good chance of regrowing your hair. If you experience side effects you can always discontinue. For mild and moderate hair loss it is the best option out there.

Update: The shampoo has lasted me a lot longer than I expected. I use it about once every 2-3 days, and I still haven't finished a whole bottle yet.

My sexual drive is consistently high. I aim for about 0.25 mg finasteride a day. While my hair hasn't regrown, I caught the hair loss somewhat early, and my hair seems to have stabilized. It's hard to tell, but I think the addition of minoxidil and regenepure aided the cessation of hair loss further. I also miss a lot of minoxidil applications.

All told, the three items I suggested cost $10 a month.

Toppik looks like black magic, haha. It's a little different from the other solutions - it's sort of like a girl using makeup to make her skin look better. For those who've used it, what is it like if a girl touches your hair? Do you feel like you have to apply it every time you meet a girl, if she had seen you before with it?

At this point, I don't think Lipogaine is any improvement over generic minoxidil.

The possible sexual side effects of Finnasteride has me a bit nervous to pull the trigger.

I was taking 1.25 mg of finesteride every day and was having sides at random times. Main thing I noticed was I was only achieving a 3/4 erection on occasion and decreased ejaculate volume. I backed it down to taking a 1.25 every other day and no more erection problems at all, but I still have a slightly decreased libido overall, which I actually attribute to my general discontent with women overall.

I still suffer from a decreased ejaculate amount and actually miss making a mess all over a girls face.

As far as hair, it certainly works. I had a shed phase early in the first year that lasted three months and now I have a much thicker frontal region and no more thinning throughout my entire scalp.

First off, I don't know if this is a typo in the original post or if Basil Ransom in confused. If you get the 5 MG pills of finesteride you do not need to grind them up and drink them with everyclear. You simply need to cut them into 4ths and take one a day. It is what I do and what is prescribed by my dermatologist. Propecia is simply 1 MG, so taking 1.25 is nothing extreme. As for side effects, its very hard to say; I've taken it for about 8 years now and have had some depression issues but nothing extreme and I don't know if I can attribute it to that. For libido, I started taking it when I was about 25 and didn't notice anything. Maybe its lower but nothing so drastic that you notice right away. Honestly I think most of it is in peoples heads.

As for Toppik, don't consider it. I don't like to look like I'm balding but I certainly am not going to use it only for the girl I take home to be shocked the next day. Sometimes you have to be yourself.

Results? People ask if it works, the problem is you don't really know until you stop taking it and then see what it really has done. I started taking it when I was losing my hair and I have lost a little more, but I think if I hadn't started, I would be very bald right now.

Interested to hear more people's experiences on this - the internet is so full of on hair loss treatment. At least here we could make a somewhat credible collection of people's hair loss experiences so if you have been treating your hairloss please share. I have slight recession on my hairline and used finasteride 1.25mg daily for about 8 months. Had some ED issues and told my doc about them and he suggested I stop taking it. Hard to say whether the ED was due to the pills or just whiskey dick (have had it in the past), but I decided it was safer to stop. Now I am currently using Nizoral 3 times/wk, Saw Palmetto 160mg daily and Lipogaine twice daily, been just over a year. Hair loss definitely has slowed but don't think it has stopped. No sides though.

How long have you been on the reduced Fin dosage? Is it working? Sides?

If you do some research of finasteride studies, you'll find that effectiveness doesn't increase appreciably beyond 0.20mg a day - some people question the FDA for approving finasteride at 1mg concentration when 0.2 did the job more safely.

Also, men who are aware of the drug's potential for ED are more likely to get ED from it.

Because the drug works by playing with your hormone levels I think it defeats common sense to prescribe the same amount (1mg) to every person. If your DHT levels are low you should take a lower dosage and if your DHT levels are high you should take a higher dosage. You can find out your levels with a 5 minute blood test. This might explain why some men get sides and some don't. Doctors obviously don't give a fuk though.

I think I might start taking 0.625 every 3 days, which should even out to 0.2 per day. Do you think that's how it works?

Because I have a bunch of 5mg already, so it's kinda a bitch to cut them up into 0.2mg. I could do it though.

Finasteride works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to DHT. Everyone's testosterone is different and the range is huge - anywhere between 300 to 800 could be considered 'normal'. Just makes sense to me that a guy with a T level of 300 and a guy with a T level of 800 shouldn't be taking the same dosage. Don't have a study to cite, just a thought.

Good post! I'm late 40's and college-aged chicks often guess late 20's!!! Keeping a full head of hair is one of the keys, and fortunately the woman who cuts my hair noticed some thinning, so we caught it just in time about 3 yrs. ago. First I started with Rogaine liquid daily use. Then I found the cheaper Costco version which worked just as well. After maybe a few wks. she noticed a def. improvement. Recently, they seem to be carrying the foam version instead.

Using it for just 20 min. every other day and alternating w/the Costco foam seems to be getting the same results. And this way, I'm cutting the Minoxidil usage in half, which is much cheaper, and probably safer.

I too am wondering why caffeine is not metioned here. The top shampoos on Amazon (last time I checked) were purely caffeine-based. I've been using for about a year and hair just stopped disappearing - however i stopped for 2 weeks in February and it all started falling out like crazy again. Definitely legit.
