Tupac or Biggie? Joking.

I grew up in San Diego until about 6 years ago when I moved to NYC. I was on the shitter today thinking how much harder it is to game very good looking girls (8+) vs. Socal. I remember gaming in Socal (not LA) and as long as I came off friendly, gregarious, and fun, I was in. In NYC, I feel like as though you have to strike the balance with a bit more caution or else you come off too friendly, and perhaps desperate?

NYC has a plethora of 7-8's and that are relatively easy, but the minute I try to notch it up a bit, I find myself having no success. Don't get me wrong, I'm not shooting for bombshell 10's, but 8-9's were more easily accesible to me in CA, then NYC.

I'm 5'9'', in good shape, and a good looking guy. I'm Asian Indian with portuguese blood lines so look mostly latin or some mix. I tend to get noticed when I walk into a place. I'm assuming it's not my appearance.

Is it that NYC girls are more assertive and there is this general northeast attitude that people shouldn't be overly friendly, and still have an edge. I find a lot of CA girls just hot and dumb and bubbly (my type) so maybe there just not as aware of how I come off?

Is it the distribution of girls in CA are just skewed more towards 8-10's?

NYC has a lot of neurotic people so I find many who get bored or perpetually hold out for something better. Most people here define themselves by their careers, so maybe every girl in that range is looking for mr. hedge fund to sweep them off their feet and live in the penthouse on central park west?

Anyone had similar experiences? What about the NYC players on this board?

See, I've had the opposite experience. It's really about where your shit plays best--your target demographic, so to speak. I find that my product sells well in New England and certain niches on the West Coast (where I'm right now).

Frankly, San Diego is a kind of anomalous market. It's nothing like Los Angeles or the Bay.

If you are consistently banging 7-8's in NYC you are doing very very well. I work in the Midtown area so I see what's out there. There are a lot of fat and ugly chicks in NY. Girls above a 7 can't be more than 20% of the total I see walking around. And you are right about the attitude, I find the only girls who are very receptive to being cold approached are new comers and tourist. A lot of my female friends have told me that the only negative thing about NY is that guys out here are relentless with approaching, they find it cute in the beginning but it gets old really fast. So, I guess that explains the bitch shields. Mind you these friends of mines are in the 4-5 range(That's why they are only my friends)

I haven't been to CA, but I have been to several states in the Dirty South and the attitude of the Women is totally different.

NYC is a BUST...LA all day long for good looking chics that are open to "game".

I don't mean to give off the impression that I have a harem of 7-8's, I don't. But, I've had decent success with good looking girls in the city given my intermediate game. My consistency somewhat depends on my mood. If I've had success recently, then I approach more as my confidence is flying high and I have the mental energy for it. But, I have cold streaks where I hit the bitch shields consistently, and my desire to put forth the mental effort and deal with rejection fades. I rarely encountered bitch shields in CA. Maybe my scale has shifted since I've left CA? After I returned from Medellin, I re-calibrated and every girl in NYC was a 5-6. But as time went on, I think you become accustomed to your environment. Having said this though, I've lived in Miami, Socal, and now NYC and I would rank them in that order as far as having great looking women. And given the ratio of females to male's in NY metro area, I think NYC has a decent number of good looking girls. It just seems to me that when I start swinging for the fence >8, I'm hitting 100% bitch shields. So, I'm trying to break through these, but unsure if it's my approach, body language, etc. or is it impossible to break? These girls must be banging someone?

As you mentioned, I fear that the guys who are approach machines here screw up it for the rest of us as they will tap anything. It reminds of the SF bay area where there are so many guys given the tech industry, that they chase 4-5's all day until these girls think they're -8-9's - pisses me off.

I also think it's where you go to game girls in the city. I've found that the east village has been easier than say west village or meatpacking. Perhaps the girls in EV are just younger (newer to the city as you said), somewhat friendlier, and DTF? Plus each area generally attracts a certain type. For example, WV is generally going to attract a blonde white girl most likely looking for a white abercrombie and fitch guy. I don't even step in the WV for that reason.

The closest thing to Socal girls I've found in the NorthEast was down on the Jersey Shore. Yes, I know for some NY'ers you shun at the Bridge and Tunnel, but I thought the girls on Jersey Shore reminded me of San Diego. Hot, dumb, great attitudes, and all they did was workout, do their nails, wear high heels, to look good for their man. A lot of the girls in the city (and elsewhere) have forgotten how to take care of themselves. But, I'm preaching to the choir on this point.

Yup. I was in LA last month and it was UNREAL. The quality and diversity was just amazing. I think in LA hot women are a dime a dozen and they know it. Here on the east coast however that's just not the case. I can't say much about NYC because I've never lived there but here in DC it is a lot harder to get a dime. A hot girl here knows she's a needle in a hay stack. The 8-9s here have high bitch shields and are flakey. Even the average to ugly girls can be tough to deal with.

Cellblock, I also feel I do better with west coast girls, I'm a west coast guy. I think west coast girls are more free spirited and fun. It may also have to do with us being more from the same types of backgrounds.

West Coast people in general are more open and talkative. From DC to Boston you get the high speed, uptight city grind kind of woman who is always on the go. It get's very annoying though I'm starting to get used to it.
