Sure it's worth it though.

Drive around in a nice custom suit in a luxury vechile. You could end up picking up the right business owner one day and getting a chance somewhere big even. One door opens another.

My boy works for a produce distributor and the guy who owns it now got his job there by picking up the old owner at an airport and spending some time in traffic with him. He eventually convinced him to give him a job there and now he owns the place and is a multi millionaire.

While another guy could save up his über money for four years straight and invest it and start his own business.

All it takes is a young guy to save every penny for four years and he can make some serious cash, all born from some 'side gig'. Slow dough is better than no dough.

In SF, they have something that is exactly that called Lyft.

Do they not have that in LA?

It's people with their own rides that put a big pink mustache on their dashboard or front fender and give people rides.

I thought UberX was still licensed drivers (by the state commission). At least in NYC. But I could be wrong.

I drove a cab for a few months between corporate jobs a few years ago. It was actually a really interesting job but I had one too many run ins with having to take customers to the bad parts of North Philly at 2am and decided to call it quits before my luck ran out and someone robbed me. Never banged any chicks but I did meet some really drunk cute chicks and was also offered a 3some from a couple of gay dudes I picked up once- I passed.

Anyway, I signed up here in my city but can't do it yet because I still have out of state tags. My cabbie experience was pre game. I think a well dressed guy with game using an entry level luxury sedan or an SUV for this could definitely pull a couple of notches per month as a driver. You're picking up tons of drunk upper middle class girls every weekend often going home without dick.

I'll drop an UberX data sheet if/when it works out.

Damn this would be a perfect side hustle for me.

I've been thinking about two things: 1) Getting a 1 day a week job to mix things up. 2) Perhaps getting a new car.

In addition, when I am bored I like to cruise around so Uber would be perfect.

Just a warning for you guys thinking about doing this. If you get into an accident while driving a fare in Uber there is a high to guaranteed probability that your insurance company will deny the claim if you are at-fault.

Your auto policy is most likely a policy for a "private passenger automobile". These policies specifically include language that classifies driving people for fares as EXCLUDED and any loss suffered will be DENIED.

Rates in Los Angeles are quite high because of population density, the number of expensive vehicles and high number of uninsured drivers.

When you're driving that hot UCLA co-ed around and trying to run game, PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD. When you rear end the douchebag in his 2014 Maserati you're gonna pay the full price to repair both vehicles out of pocket, PLUS your insurance company will cancel your policy.

Here is an even longer term business plan if you are going to do the Uber thing

1. Do the gig for a while
2. Write a blog about how you did it
3. Write a book "Becoming an Uber driver for dummies"
4. Write a second book "Road Bang, how to get laid as an Uber Driver"
5. Do a podcast where you talk about your crazy taxi stories, have on other Uber lunatic drivers as well
6. Consolidate the uber employment market. Offer business services for uber drivers like accident claims referral, maintenance (emech)
7. Stop being an uber driver, do location independence, sell your business and start another one.
