Yes realistically you don't really need to venture much out of the old city. There are a few places to eat in Bocagrande, but not much else besides that.

Personally, I would not get a hotel and would prefer to rent an apartment. I can bring chicks back at my pleasure and cook my own food. But that's just me.

I have been here in Cartagena for about three days now. So far I find it mostly full of hookers and Colombians madly trying to get as much money as they can from you. I am staying in Bocagrande -- and it really its just a tourist LA type of vibe. I spent fri and sat in the old city - I guess it was ok -but still not as easy for game. You need to have your skills at high levels here is what I am thinking.

Also the practical question of just where do you take a girl is still not anwsered. I cannot bring a girl to my hotel room as it is not allowed. So that is a big problem.

I guess either way you pay; it's just a matter of whether you want to jump through hoops or not on limited vacation time - unless a chic is really feeling you or you just happen to find one that wants to sleep with a Gringo that is only going to be there for a few days, for food and drinks. It's always funny when you see guys get back home and start sending these "regular" girls Western Union money, lol.

If you're hanging out in a place where chics are getting paid for having sex with Gringos, that might affect the overall environment and rules of engagement.

I find in Latin America and other places outside the USA, the roles are more clearly defined for men and women. In Latin America, a man, and especially a Gringo, is looked at as the provider or in some cases the money machine (i.e., ATM). It's tolerable, if you have the resources. If you live there or are there long-term obviously the overall calculous is different.

At the end of the day, we all want the same thing ... right??

2 ideas:

1. Talk to girls on the street in the old town at night.

I know that sounds like a great way to meet hookers, but you can usually tell the difference.

Something simple like "Oye tu sabes donde hay un buen lugar para bailar?" and then just roll with the convo. People chill outside on the street in those little mini parks that are all around the old town, or outside of churches in plazas. Also in the area near the main entrance to the old town with all the outdoor seating, and just walking along the wall at night.

2. Pay for a hotel room for two.

I brought a girl to Cartagena, and this is what I did. They charge you more, and you can bring your girl in. The people at the desk never know whether any particular girl is your girlfriend or not though.

I am back from a one week vacation at Cartagena. It was really incredible there. One of the best places I have visited. The city is really beautiful and the night life is more better than I would have imagined. Women are friendly -- no male hatred I could sense. Some clubs actually try to keep out the girls and welcome in the gents. Like free gents nights while women have to pay to get in. The beach is right along the mian road and ocean has these amazzing waves that keep coming in -- that one can throughly enjoy and have a water massage. If anyone needs some particular info -- let me know. I should be able to help out. Definitly worth the trip.

However!!!

After doing a data sheet objective analysis of Cartagena, I have to say there are more negatives than positives. I would not likely be visiting there again --unless a really cheap package came up.

The negatives are in order:

-- A bit too expensive. Prices are the same or a bit more than in first world countires. Accomodations and Food are not cheap there.

--Hookers everywhere - in the night. And theyare not cheap either. Hard to meet regular girls.

-- The city has enormous amounts of peddlers and hustlers - who hassle you pretty aggressively. The city is on an aggressive mission to take as much money as they can from tourists.

-- You cannot go out of the tourist areas and into the main parts of the town -- as it may be dangerous --

--You cannot rent scooters there -- if you do find one -- it will be very expensive -- and scooters are not allowed on the roads after 10 -11:00pm. Many robberies occured with scooters being used in the night -- so now scooters are not allowed in the night time. -- That is a big issue for me --as I find scooter important to use to get around.


So Cartagena is definitly worth a visit -- but not a place to stay too long.

new guy here lol..Ive been to CTG about 4 times and I will be back for labor day...After reading alot of this board it seems theres not much love for the semi pros or pros...Im a logical guy ...so i tend to think in a logical way.If i want to travel thousands of miles to bang gorgeous women ...i def wouldnt be doing the whole date thing ...which i noticed guys do alot on here .I rather just pay them and leave ...it seems more logical that way for both parties ..I travel for two reasons for vacation and to see the culture and to have a nice session whenever i want .I dont have time to set up dates and do what im doing in chicago ....i rather not ....To me having convenient ass on tap is a god send ..I smash and now i can do some tourist stuff
