RE: First time in New York
Ahh NYC.. I lived there for 3 years and are probably the best years of my life.
A'right so here goes:
Daytime:
Go to Chelsea Highline. Its a park on an old subway line. You'll get to see tons of great architecture.
Go to Chelsea Market
Walk on Brooklyn Bridge if its your first time in NYC.
Gantry Plaza State Park: A great location to gaze at Midtown Manhattan & Queenboro Bridge. If you're taking a girl out the first time, invite her over there with a bottle of wine and cheese. Very peaceful and secluded.
Brooklyn Heights Promenade: View of downtown Manhattan, Statue of Liberty from Brooklyn.
Staten Island Ferry: Its free and you can get a good view of downtown Manhattan, Jersey City, Ellis Island, Verazzano Bridge & Brooklyn
Go to Williamsburg in Brooklyn. Tons of little coffeeshops, bookstores, etc. Its a fun neighborhood just to walk around
McDougal Street in West Village: Bunch of little restaurants & eating joints.
9/11 Memorial: If its your first time in NYC. You've got to go there.
Clubs:
The key for any club in NYC is to get there early when the doors have just opened.
Cielo: If you're into house music. Try getting there around 10.00-10.30 so that you dont have to pay ridiculous covers and wait.
Kiss & Fly: Fun place. Good vibe and an amazing crowd.
Pacha: This club has 3 levels for Electronic music as well as Hip Hop. Music and crowd can be hit or miss
Lavo: An upscale club. Can be tough to get in on some nights. Sexy but pretentious crowd.
Bars:
Ajna Bar: This is my favorite bar in Meatpacking District. Very classy, oriental feel and great cocktails. Its been a while since I've been there but I've heard on weekends they turn it into a club.
Hofbreau Munchen: If you like traditional German style beer house then definitely check this place out. The waitresses are hot.
Bohemian Biergarten: This is Czech style open air beer house. Good place to pregame before heading to a club. Its in Astoria in Queens
230 5th: Touristy Rooftop bar. Can be hard to get into depending on the time and day. The view is amazing if you're in New York for the first time.
Press Lounge: Another rooftop bar. More laid back atmosphere and good cocktail menu. Great place to go if you're on a date.
Brass Monkey: Cool place. Has a rooftop if you want to catch some fresh air. Its packed on weekends and you'll definitely see drunk people doing crazy things.
Hogs & Heifers: A trashy little bar. Southern atmosphere. Good place to sip a few drinks, play pool and watch 'normal girls' go up the bar, dance & take their bras off to get free drinks.
Hookah Lounge:
Babylon: Good vibe. Nice music. They have belly dancing on weekends
There are tons of other hookah Lounges on Steinway St. in Queens if you're willing to make a trip there.
