I think they're really passé in general and kind of remind me of the shitty 2000's and strip club bouncers, Nickelback loving, southern conservatives who wear Crocs, dip, and pronounce "Birming-HAM" as "birmingumm", or businessmen in their 30's who still wear bluetooth earpieces and Oakley's and use belt clips for their cellphones.

So it's surprising to me seeing Leo DiCaprio still clinging to his stupid goatee at the Oscar's - he looks way better without or with full scruff.

Anybody want to defend goatees? Really curious - don't feel like they have a place in current men's fashion.

I think a serious Goatee would be a horrible disadvantage in a street fight.

I've just managed to grow one in the past couple of months. The reason for is that it is the only part of my beard that grows so far, my sides are patchy and not thick at all so a goatee is all I rock and it adds years to me (I don't get carded), and I wear Ray Ban's Wayfares.
Although my preference and goal is a full beard or a 5 o'clocker.

I clung on to mine for a long time, 14 years to be exact. Finally we parted ways. I shave my head, so rockin a goat was the way to go in the late 90's early 2000's. It was good for contrast with the shaved head, I worked out quite a bit and had the Ed Norton, American History X look going for me. It was tough to let it go. However, it's gotten to the point where any chubby, overweight over 40 year old who still where's faded, baggy mommy jeans looking for an easy way to make his style seem edgy, would grow one. It got embarrassing after a while, so I got rid of it. However, I'm well over 40 so my hair styling options are limited. I went ahead and grew the stubble 5 o'clock shadow look for some contrast, but I'm careful not to let it get too thick as it just looks like you're trying too hard to over compensate for a bald head. I'm even digging the salt and pepper the facial hair provides. It works for me......

Don't get me started on older guys who are using the grecian formula and dying their hair, makes them look like tired 28 year olds. They would do so much better just to let nature do its thing, works for Clooney.......

In my life, there has definitely been a correlation between disingenuousness/dishonesty and goatee-wearing among those I have met.

Could be coincidental.

I guess I can't fathom why Leo wears baby fat and a horrible goatee and brings his mommy to major award shows when he easily has the time to be in top shape, not have a 2001 facial hairstyle, and have his supermodel GFs with him instead of an overweight 60 year old.

I guess he just DGIF and that's why he's Leonardo DiCaprio.

Interesting, I noticed a correlation between a Toyota Corolla and amazingly bad drivers. My personal guestimate would be 85% of Corolla owners can't drive, or just don't give a shit how they drive.

Subconscious choices reveal true character.

I guess taste can be judged?
