With the summer slowly coming upon us. I want to mention this lifesaver.

For those - like me - who like having their bedroom window open in the summer.

It is a netting that you can put over your open window to keep bugs out. I have used it for the past couple of years and it is fantastic.

And cheap as well.

In north america we call those screens and they are standard on modern homes. They don't have these in the UK?

Haha, ok, I have to help out my fellow European, Cardguy here, it's true that we don't have those screens there that you find all over the US. In Miami for example they're everywhere but they're not very common in Europe.

A European once asked me if there are lots of mosquitoes in LA. I told her not really. She then asked why then are there screens on every window. Then it struck me that I'd never seen one in Europe before.

Why they don't have these is a mystery to me. Same with using washcloths to scrub your body, so much more effective in scrubbing yourself but it's like the rest of the world never even thought of it.

I'm going to give Cardguy props for this thread, he's reminded me to get a window screen netting for when I do lengthy travels. Anyone that's lived in the Caribbean needs things like this. Chilling in bed without a mosquito net and hearing them buzzing around your ears, ready to bite away with dengue fever, that's not cool!
