A LOT of great info here so far.

I am planning to hit Cuba for 16 days before flying to Cancun and then hitting virtually every country on the way to Panama.

If anyone can add places to see and things to do, and also guide me along towards the highest end talent, I'll be glad to report back any and all worthy experiences.

I'm really liking the idea of getting scuba certified for cheap in Honduras.

I second Fisto's comments: thanks to everyone for your feedback so far.

My newest thought is that with 18 days I should just pick either Nicaragua or Guatemala as my primary country to visit, and then throw in El Salvador as a quick 5-6 day adventure to tick it off my list, and catch an easy flight back to Mexico City. As someone who has done a decent amount of travel, I know that there's nothing worse than trying to cram everything in.

@Fisto: I know a guy who teaches scuba in Honduras and said he can hook me up if I go. If it's legit, I might be able to get you a discount as well.

What about the whole english thing in central america? Can a guy just sarge through on english alone with no spanish??
