Cop knocks on door, kid answers, she thinks the Wii controller in his hand is a gun and shoots him.

What are the odds she just gets moved to a desk job and doesn't get charged with anything?

officer is on leave. normal procedure.

if it was a guy.the kid might have gotten shot too. it's happened many times before.
it's tragic..but shit happens.

there are Wii controller add ons that look like guns.

you try serving a. arrest warrant in a trailer park and see how comfortable you are when you see something that looks like a gun through the shades

what pisses me off is that the media didn't show her photo or identity

It's fucked up, but did happen because it was a female cop? I'm all for pointing how stupid it is for girls to be in the marine's etc., but let's not be off to the races with something like this if it also happens with male cops. That's the kind of broad brush stroking that feminists do.

I'd be inclined to agree if she didn't act female throughout the whole encounter.

Didn't announce herself when she knocked, didn't tell him to drop the weapon before squeezing (impulsive action), reportedly pointed the gun and screamed at the kid sister to shut up as she was holding her brother (no empathy), then freaked out instead of calling for a medic.

These aren't even official statement. I'm inclined to believe from the style of the filming cops article...that it's looking down on cops.

Who is to say the kids did here the reply. He can't speak for himself.
Even a low risk warrant. As a cop or a soldier...you don't want to make a bunch of noise letting the people inside knowing you're coming. You announce once and escalate.
Even then it takes 1000s of rounds of practice to be able to quickly differentiate targets.

If she was uncomfortable she should have called back up. That was a failure on her part.

Any reaction after the shot being fired is up to debate. But who is to say she didn't call for a medic after the shot was fired? You want to comfort the victim..but you don't wanna harm them in the process. Men act irrational in these situations also. Don't forget that
Male soldiers fire first and ask questions later also. I've seen it.
