To be quick, I'm french and I decided to go where everything starts : Guangzhou, China. I have some goods to buy, and i'm discovering a whole NEW WORLD

There is quite no middle class, it's amazing comparing to Europe !

Here it's crazy : they have cheap workers who make China a paradise for make productions. And they have so many millionaires who make China a paradise for making luxury-oriented businesses

- Create a man clothing store in Europe or USA/online website, only with chineses collections. Really, some are even better than Zara. Why would you loose energy creating new clothes when you can find hipster ones for 3USD, waiting just for you !


- Export this futur worldwide bestseller ! They call it 3D Battery Puzzle, but you can't understand the potential before you see it. This toy is a mix between LEGO and PUZZLE. It is playfull and teach kids logic. It mooves, makes noise, attracts everybody in a 5m perimeter.

This can be sold between 19$ to 39$ depending how you market this. You can buy this 1.2USD on Alibaba

- Export this shoes and creat the huge trend of this summer. (In france) we had Tennis (Bensimon) trend, then "rope-soled sandals" (Espadrilles in french). China created a mix of those two :

It'll cost you 10$/pair shipping included, and public price can be from 29$ to 89$ depending on how you market it.
Boom, that will be the product of this summer.

- Open high class fashion stores in big Chineses cities. Sell party clothes, way too hipster, twice the price of Zara. Single Life DS has 15 shops only in Guangzhou (Canton...). Gives you ideas ?

- Export Art, Decoration and furnitures by cargo. Sell to big companies and make minimum order 1 container.

Take the order, get the money, buy everything, deduce fees, now keep your benefit, you like it ?

- Export electric bike. I didn't researched about it, but here everybody rides antic electric bikes which look like 20years old. In france the trend is just starting. Here even 2$/hour workers have one. Come here and find the fucking supplier ! You'll make scandalous benefits

- Sell Jewels on markets. Here in France we are fond of summer markets. Anyone can try to sell his stuff for a few € of emplacement a day. If you don't have this in you country, you have Christmas markets. Jewels have one of the most outrageous margins. Here you'll find 95% of crap and 5% of OMGIllBeRich jewels.

Buy this bracelets 0,4$ and sell it 7$...

- Become wholesaler. Find the ONE best product in each category. Buy 1, sell 3. You'll be 1 year in advance comparative to old wholesalers that are making big business in your country.


- Bonus : express delivery


PS : talking about girls (obviously), Chineses have nice baby bodies. No fat chicks here. They look like they never get old. In the street they dress sexy. In clubs, i found the most advanced level of sluts ever. I mean from heels to nails, everything is too much.

I'll keep an eye on this thread for sure! How's the quality of Chinese shoes for example? Most of this stuff is sold on ebay. I found an amazing underwear supplier in China that makes modal underwear and their stuff is top notch and 5 times cheaper than similar underwear in the US. But selling it in US for example...I don't know. Opening a retail store in a mall would be something profitable I suppose.

My biggest problem in China was finding shoes that came in a size larger than US10.5, awesome shoes by the boatload, none of which would fit me.

Good ideas. Keep in mind that with many products, the majority of cost (compared to final retail price) is not production/materials, but rather marketing, distribution, and retailing. Yes, you can get a $3 shirt in China to sell abroad for $20, but that's what other major foreign retailers are doing also. It's all the other parts of the supply chain and sales that cost money.

Yes, 2 things to be carrefull about in China are the quality (Check It all long the production) and the sizes. On france i wear M and here XXL Is just ok !

How would I get all this product to the U.S.? Are those prices local or with shipping?Also does anyone know what customs thinks of bringing products in ones luggage.Not massive amounts of course but a few to try out.I wonder if there is some kind of tax on that stuff.I will try to search regarding that

Depends on what you bring. It's gonna look a little suspicious if you have suitcase after suitcase full of watches. I'm sure it happens all the time though.

I brought back a duffel bag full of stuff I picked up last time I was in China.

I wouldn't trust any baby/toddler toys sold in China, though.

If you are looking at importing goods, be sure to check and see if it's a knock off, first.

Great stuff, Clark. My buddy lives in Shenzhen and does quality control and exports goods to the US and Europe.

I'd love to hear more about the nightlife in GZ. What is the party style like? For example, here in Bangkok most places have a Thai party atmosphere which means mixed groups all surrounding their small table with a bottle, and not really interacting with the people around them much. Is it similar in GZ, or is it more of a western style nightclub scene?

Also, what are the girls like, attitude and personality wise? Is it difficult to get a one night stand from a club in GZ? Are they more reserved? Etc.

OP..How hard is it to break into doing business there? I would assume every one and their grandmother are trying to make money there. What kind of advantage one gets being on the ground as oppose to doing business online?
