I recently had an old GF contact me after not having contact with her for five years.

I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to respond, but I think it's funny, because the last time I had heard from her, at the time, she had moved away and was getting married, if that's her life now, she's either so bored with hubby that she's reaching out to an old BF, or she didn't get married/divorced and wants to see where I am in life -- not anywhere near Marriageland, she's over 30, I'm not.

Girls show a lot of hubris when they do this, one, there's always a self-serving motive/interest for popping back into your life, and two, they don't stop and think, "Damn, I wonder how much pussy this dude has had since me?"

I noticed the time stamp on the e-mail, and while she was sending me this "lost love-ish" e-mail, I was pounding a chick that I had just met doggystyle in the bathroom of a laundrymat -- if you remember my Late Night Game thread, yes I've started trolling laundrymats, I have a full W/D in my house.

I've had lots of ex-girlfriends try to pop back into my life over the years. I'm sure there's usually some self-serving purpose behind it, it's whatever. I'm usually quite cordial and let them know that I'm doing well with women and making my way up in the world. Then I cut the conversation short.

I've had this happen a few times.

The first was an ex who I had dated for three years. As soon as I got the email, I said to myself "She's either getting married or wants to marry me." Turns out it was the former. It didn't bother me a ton, but I knew she was telling me because she wanted me to know what I was missing out on. It makes sense, because I dumped her even after we had talked off-hand about having kids, etc. I have no hard feeling about it.

The second is this other girl who, after hanging out for a couple months, texted me one night that she loved me. Her and I are still going back and forth right now. She's borderline nuts, so I may cut that off rather than risk her trying some crazy shit on me.

Also had my last serious gf try to stay in contact me after she dumped me (beta days). I asked her once not to do it again. She did it again, and I went dark (changed number, blocked on all mediums, etc.). The main reason behind this, besides the fact that I wasn't the same man who she left, was that who the F was she to be talking to me?

I feel it's the ones that you put the hook in deepest who come back. By that, I mean, don't give a f'k, show them a good time, and don't get attached to. I have a feeling it goes with women giving away themselves, and feeling like they didn't get enough from you. The other reason is that they aren't necessarily going through a dry spell, but that they crave an alpha over some beta who caters to all of their needs. When they're ready to start again with a real man, they come back to you.

I've had several chicks from my past pop back in unexpectedly. Sometimes they're the type who disappear when they get into a relationship, other times it's something where I moved away or they did and they find me on Facebook or email me out of the blue or whatever. I came to this realization when yesterday I got cold texted by a girl I haven't talked to in three years.

This girl was a solid 8.5 and I had a crush on her through middle and high school. She started dating this other girl for a while, and I was in an LTR from Junior year in high school with a pudgy, ignorant chick around that time.

Early my sophomore year in college she hit me up out of no where and we made out. I broke up with my gf, then spent the next three months getting completely jerked the fuck around by this chick.

She knew I was completely hers, so she would have me drive two hours to see her, withhold sex for weeks, ghost on me at random, stand me up on dates, generally fuck with my emotions and then finally she disappeared to go date her gf again.

It quickly became apparent when she texted me yesterday that she had gotten fat, broken up with her girl (because she couldn't stand hiding the fact that she's been banging dudes behind her back), and lost a lot of the male attention she used to have.

Lonely in an apartment in New Orleans, she figured she'd go down the list of old fuck buddies. Once she got to me, she just assumed I'd be as easy to manipulate as I was then.

It never once crossed her mind that I've fucked lots of girls since her, am right now fucking lots of girls, or lost patience with her bullshit. In fact, she failed to consider that we didn't leave each other on the best terms.

I didn't respond, just let her know I read the text. Getting mad is a waste of time, and hooking back up is a bigger waste of time. And I can't be mad at her. I don't get mad at my dog when he barks at other dogs late at night. It's in his nature to bark, it's in her nature to go for the low-hanging fruit.

The funny thing is, no matter what I did or said, she would never see me as anything but low-hanging fruit. Despite the fact that she's a whale now.

So it's best to let it all be.

I think as long as you don't fool yourself into thinking a girl from your past could return and become anything serious, you're fine. Ideally, you're spinning enough plates already that if an old flame reaches out and you decide to respond to them, you won't really care if your reply is "good" or not. If you find you're putting in any kind of effort in your response, you're probably more invested in the outcome than you should be and that should be a sign to just leave it alone. Just my two-cents.

Once you've banged a girl, it's usually easier to bang them again than it is to go out and seduce a new girl. Since even the best players have dry spells/harem collapse, I think it's prudent to use girls from your past as slumpbusters/ego boosts to help facilitate future bangs with new girls. Nothing in the world breeds success like success. Girls seem to be able to smell pussy on a guy and want them more because of it. As long as you haven't gone completely nuclear on a girl when things were ended, she'll usually feel comfortable coming back to you at some point. Hell, even sometimes going nuclear won't keep them away.

Ex girlfriends reach out to me occasionally. One of my former hookups is now a FB friend and routinely asks me about how to get ahead in her career. For my part, I'd screen ex-girlfriends hitting me up even harder than the hardest of online game serial daters. The chances that they're just looking for validation feels/to stuff you into orbiterville for their own purposes are extremely high.

New girls might get second chances if they flake or need some comfort built. Old ones? You're in or you're out - nobody has time for nostalgia games.

Usually I'd say it was self serving if she left you, not you leaving her. The only time I'd say it wasn't self-serving is if you ended the relationship and she was a decent girl, but not the right type for you. I did this once on a sweet girlfriend who couldn't work out with me in the end due to her parents being crazy. She still hits me up from time to time. Makes me feel melancholy, because she isn't a bad girl, just from a messed up family.
