When my ex and I first started dating, I used to play a tape of his "Passion Fruit" album. She still jokes around about the song that had a chorus she hated "Don't touch that phone! Don't touch that phone! Don't touch that phone!" Other than that one song, though ("When Sly Calls"), it was great mood music.

I'd definitely recommend trip hop as well. I'm ALL about playlists too, so I'll try to list some of the artists I like. Music is VERY powerful at creating moods, so you can definitely attune it to the kind of girl you are with- party chic/club girl? More mainstream type of chic? Hipster/indie? Etc.

I highly recommend everyone here to have Spotify as well if they don't, EASY to create playlists if you want-as well as you have the radio option (like Pandora, I HIGHLY prefer Spotify to Pandora-but to each their own). As far as radio stations, look into Parov Stellar and Yonderboi.

I'll write up lists when I get the chance. Have thought about putting playlists on here for a while, or even wondering if we should pm each other Spotify member info to share lists, etc. Just an idea.

Also, you can connect your smartphone through bluetooth to your laptop-which could be connected to your stereo-or have a bluetooth adapter that will allow you to play music on your laptop to your stereo. Just another way of being smooth. Start playing music as soon as you walk into your place, or as you start cooking. Etc. If you even wanted to get that deep, you could set the lists to play as where the music progresses from lighter/casual (fun/playful) to then more sensual/slow (for makeouts/escalation, etc.) Again-music can REALLY help set the mood, and if you have a nice place/set up/lighting-it can be VERY calming as well as can make things that much more sensual (lighting/visual and now aural/sound). Hopefully the food you are cooking compliments that attack on ALL the senses (smell and taste).

Michael Franks is the MAN! I only discovered him about 10 years ago when my Filipino Boss lent me the Blue Pacific album. I was instantly hooked and have been buying all his albums. I just ordered his 5 first albums CD box set. By the way, if you go to Grooveshark.com, you can listen to all his complete albums there, that's what I did and ended buying almost all of them on CD. Some only have a few good songs, but they are still worth it. He has a unique style that I call tropical smooth romantic jazz, or jizz depending oh how sexual the song is. If you listen to Filipino smooth jazz station "crossover" they play his stuff quite often. He's turned into one of my all time favorite artists, when I hadn't even heard of him ten years ago. I love his smooth, slow, sexy songs from the late 70's and early 80's. I listened to a lot of his stuff when I went to the Philippines last year, so it reminds me of my time there with all the cute sweet and horny girls I met. Their is something just so peaceful, laid back, sexual, and tropical about his music.

Another more set of songs than any song in particular has been to play a bossa nova (a very relaxing, soothing type of music from Brasil) cd as soon as I get into the room with a girl, have a good bottle of wine ready and it's been surefire way.
