My mouth is watering. If it's the one where they cook the whole head up until all the meat and "fixings" become like a soft stew, it is seriously delicious. At least it is if they do it right - I used to hunt it down in California. Only the real authentic spots have it. Killer in a burrito too.

Yes, Taco de cabeza, ojo y lengua...I didnt see how they prepared it, a Mexican friend ordered them for. He wanted me to eat something real mexicano. The filling was kinda stew like and not bad, but I still pefer more coneventional stuff like Tacos al Pastor or Alambre when it comes to Mexican cuisine.

I'm living in Italy now and although the food is absolutely amazing, I feel your pain, because for me, Mexican food is hard to beat.

Lamb brain in Italy. One of the better restaurants in Rome, Trattoria Monti, its northern Italian faire run by a family of brothers in the front of the house, and the mother doing all of the cooking. Probably the best restaurant I have ever eaten in. Highly recommended.

The "FatMagnum" at Fat Sandwich. Its a local joint in the University of Illinois. They literally put a bunch of random stuff on a sandwich bun.



It consists of Mozzarella sticks, American cheese, two hamburger patties, egg, bacon, chicken nuggets, pizza bytes, mayonnaise, ketchup, and fries on top. It is honestly the most disgusting thing I ate in my life. The meat was nasty, and I literally felt like I was going to get a heart attack. Never again.


When it comes to trying things abroad well Ive only been to Mexico and Argentina. No complains there. Maybe the Panchos in Argentina werent all that tasty.

around 50$ for the whole cobra which was then done into 7-8 different dishes
pretty expensive for Vietnam but I figured it's a once in a lifetime opportunity

You can get cobra in New Mexico, in the US. Way cheaper too.

Seal stew, Newfoundland. It tastes like wild game and fish simultaneously, not bad though. Dutch licorice has to be the worst thing I've eaten though it tastes like heavily salted black licorice.

I once tried some scorpions in Thailand but it wasn't really tasty. It looked kind of scary in the beginning but the moment I took the first bite it was just like eating potato chips.

Chicken embryos in eggs. In China, it's supposed to make you more of a male. Hadn't this 6yr old girl been staring at me, I'm not sure I would have taken a second bite. Since she didn't miss a bit of the scene, I had to finish both. I don't advise anyone to try those hard-boiled-eggs-looking eggs. It's a baby inside, and aside from the concept, it really does taste bad.
And if you wanna try that, don't get beer or pop with it. Backfire burps make it even worse.

Not abroad, growing up in Vietnam, none of those thing seem strange to me, my mother forced me to eat pig's brain cooked with eggs when I was a child, it was pretty disgusting

Oh man, Ive had my share of unusual stuff.

birds: Ostrich, balut, pigeon, assorted parts of duck and chicken. Duck brains are sandy. . . and their intestines are like duck flavoured rubber bands. their stomachs look like little violins too, cute. Crunchy.

mammals:bear, beaver (meh, lean and a little gamey), walrus (absolutely disgusting, smells like what I imagine old mans balls smells, and flavour lingers . . .), whale( fishy tuna), narwhal (like sour cream), seal (disgusting, lean, chewy fishy red meat), lion (a story in and out of itself), wild boar, horse, moose, various deer preparations.

Had a pig tripe stew in China, smelled and tasted like sewer. I dont know how/why people would eat it.

insects: beetles, crickets, scorpions, mealworms (dead and alive, better alive) tequila worms (dead and alive), ants, rhino beetles, butterflies.

odds and ends: clay, drywall compound (ever done renos? thats why), charcoal (for science), and my favourite: pussy juice.

I have a friend in sichuan that swears that one day he nearly ate placenta unknowingly... that might be the line for me. Apparently its quite common in hospitals to find hustlers willing to buy it for restaurants. the more you know!

Apparently the native americans would take chunks of horses of cows while they were still alive and eat them on the spot. Gnarly.

In Beijing I was taken to restaurant where I was offered a dinner made of six different animals penises. Horse,beef,pig,dog,sheep and last one was from some unidentified animal.

I told my Chinese friends that I wanted to try something special that I can't find on my own.
Of course they didn't let me know what it was before I had finished my meal.
