I heard an interesting comment at a party tonight. At couples swing parties, good-looking men are scarce. It is easy for men to find couples with hot women, but the women usually veto the fat, ugly man.

This matches research by OKCupid. Men rate women on a realistic bell curve, but women rate 80% of men below medium. Nevertheless, men still send messages mostly to the prettiest women. In contrast, women are realistic enough to send to men who are only slight better looking than themselves. The 80% of us ugly men are fortunate that even picky women are flexible about looks.

This is not true. Swingers are a snapshot from general population, so you'll see all kind of people on those parties. We've been visiting those parties for a while, and we've seen hot chicks with fat bold men, and we've seen good looking dudes with fat chicks.

However for singles it is tough - neither fat single men nor fat single women get any attention there.
