JJ Abrams the creator of Lost and the director of the recent Star Trek films and the upcoming Star Wars films has put together an extraordinary book.

It came out last year - but I just heard about it today. I fucking hate fiction - so I will never actually read it. But I wanted to pass it along since it should be of interest to alot of you. And would make an amazing gift.

The book is a facsimilie of an old library book. And the book is filled with notes, random pieces of paper, and marginilia written by two characters who are communicating in the margins of the pages with each other.

So - it seems to me you have two books here. The book itself - and the storyline between the two people who repeated loan the same book in order to communicate with each other. And that second storyline is one you have to piece together bit by bit by analysing the odds and ends lying throughout the book.

I am really impressed by the concept behind the book. Here is a video clip to give you an idea of what I am talking about:

I have it. It's pretty good, however it's kinda odd having to read the same page twice to catch everything.
