I've been messing with online dating here in Thailand for the last 7 months or so. Results have been good. And they just got about 2 times better.

I made 2 changes that seemed to have boosted my profile significantly:

Change #1 - "Mysterious" Profile Pic

My theory:

I realize the first pic isn't very good at all. And that the second photo is a much better quality photo than the first. However! ...I've had really good quality photos up before that haven't received nearly the same amount of attention as this new one.

My money is on the mystery element.

I'm looking down. You can't see my eyes. "Who is this guy?", "I wanna see his eyes!" Some girl even wrote to me "you have such beautiful eyes!" lol. Leaving that little element out drives them nuts.

Here's a picture that was taken in the same series where I look at the camera. I used this on profile for a few days. It didn't produce any positive result at all:



I haven't quantified the difference but I have at least 5-10 attractive girls messaging me daily now. Before I had maybe 1 or 2. The difference has been very noticeable.

Assuming this trend continues, I'll need to expend much less time to message girls now. In fact, I'll probably just filter the ones that message me and not even bother reaching out to new ones on my own. Why bother with cold leads when you have qualified prospects waiting for you to follow up...?

Change #2 - Fewer Pics

I had all 6 photo slots filled. But I realized after I made change #1 above that less is probably more. So I removed 4 pics and now I only have these 2:





I feel like these photos work well in concert together because they both don't let the girl see my face "fully". And even though I'm not jacked, it does show I'm an in-shape guy, which Thai girls really seem to appreciate.

I made both of these changes within a few days of each other so it's hard to say which one had more impact. I think #1 probably had the biggest impact. However, removing extra photos has probably given girls much less material to disqualify me with based on perceived shortcomings.

I remember watching a Paul Janka DVD (highly recommend BTW) where he said that women look to actively disqualify you based on any number of ridiculous criteria. This is probably doubly true in online dating where they can pick and choose carefully.

(I noticed upticks on both ThaiFriendly and DateInAsia).

Any online dating evil geniuses want to weigh in...?

Made the changes about a week ago. I don't know if your profile goes to the top. But I'm pretty sure there's some kind of algorithm on there that favors guys who get messaged more (and girls too).

I will give you my theory. They did a study that showed guys photos were rated as higher who didn't look directly at the camera. It could be because women are picky when it comes to eyes ..so by not seeing them they cant reject you because of them. Same as having less photo's. Women look for reasons NOT to date a guy. More pictures means more different looks/angles for them to make an excuse NOT to be attracted to you.These theories have been studies already though.

Like Jimukr104 has mentioned, studies have proven that women are more attracted to photos of men who are not looking directly into the camera. Also, I would not direct my gaze at the floor, that is a submissive gesture. As far as the shirtless pictures, I would strongly advise against doing that in the united states. I have no experience of what works in Thailand. But as long as your photos show that you are a fit guy, (not a fatso or a scarecrow) then you will press their attraction buttons. Showing a picture of your bare torso is too confrontational in an introductory dating profile.

Actually I've heard form guys with good physiques that despite girls protestations to the contrary showing your abs is a good move. It automatically skews your demographic younger and preselects for girls who want to bang. So what if a frumpy 32yd is offended at the sight of your washboard abs?

Absolutely, if you have great abs, then a shirtless or beach photo can be a great demonstration of higher value. I think it might look even better if you are shirtless and playing volleyball(or some other sport where you could show off your abs) instead of a shirtless mirror selfie.

I find that simply having a pic with a nice fitted shirt that shows off the physique to be a better route. all while not being the "look at my body" guy...

Chicks know a guy with a good body when they see one. Plus I think doing it that way makes them salivate a bit more. A bit more hungry for what to come.

Just like when you see a woman walking in a wonderful pair if jeans or those god send yoga pants. You go bananas imagining what the booty is like

My guess is it may be more of the Rodin effect. Your pose suggests your a man of thought (the masculine), which the feminine would naturally be attracted too.

Yes the problem with "look at my body" is it looks like you are seeking approval. It's better to hunt at your physique with a tight fitted shirt with dramatic lighting that shows off you r physique secondary to some cool activity you are doing.

straight out show them what your body looks like, and you are ruining it for them.

show them enough, in a CASUAL way, to let them live in their fantasy world. (ie; here i am doing this thing, but go ahead and eye fuck the details, let your imagination run wild with what I've provided you)

All you do is turn the key, and let their engine run. No need to flood the carburetor by pumping on the gas pedal.

I think the best way to get around the douchebag stigma with a shirtless photo is to just take the photo on a beach or next to a swimming pool so it looks natural yet shows off the physique just the same. Same with women, if I see a photo of a girl in a bikini standing in her bathroom mirror doing a selfie, my first thought is attention whore. But her wearing that same bikini on a beach photo would not make me think that.

I agree with most of the posts, I don't mean to suggest never to show your bare physique. If you do have good photos of yourself involved in some outdoor activity (at the beach, a river, or somewhere shirts are not worn) then it might work to your advantage. Your primary activity in the photo should be something fun and physical, meanwhile you just happen to have your shirt off.

If you just show a selfie of your body, it looks like you are trying to show "the goods" to potential dates. It comes across as tacky and approval seeking.

Remember: women do not fetishize the male body the same way that men fetishize the female body. Women's pornography is erotic literature of multi sensual experiences, while men's pornography is photographic images. This is a really big difference, and very helpful information to use to your advantage in seduction.

My experience in Thailand has been that girls don't generally consider it 'douchey' to post a shirtless photo unless it looks arrogant or somehow in poor taste. In fact, I get a lot of compliments on that photo.

You can be a lot more straight up here in your profile than in the West. You don't need to max out DHVs and write some witty ironic bullshit or 'casually' mention your 6 figure job. Being a decent looking white guy does most of the heavy lifting. (But you still need to know what you're doing in the game department).

Maybe a factor here is that Western girls are more likely to take a good physique for granted because in the West there's a big workout culture, especially among the young dating population.

But in Thailand the dudes don't really workout at all. And the very, very few that do ignore their lower bodies entirely, resulting in enormous pecs and arms and scrawny little chicken legs.

Thus the women here really respond to a guy with a nice physique. And showing it off frankly doesn't appear to be a low-value strategy.
