Also a little update. Grabbed a place in Pahonyontin about 5 minutes from MRT and 8-10 to BTS Mochit and JJ Market. 1 Bedroom 40sqm, pool, 4th floor, a half decent gym, a nice clean building for 10k a month. I would say about 70% of my building is foreigners who from what I have seen, look somewhat respectable and non sexpatish. I also saw a few western women that looked pretty deprived .

I went to the beach over the weekend, an island called Koh Larn about 2.5 hrs from Bkk. Take a bus to the Pattaya pier and then another 20 minute boat and you're there. Had a really good time there and it's 90% Thai on weekend trips (all normal Thai no shady P4P types) and a few Russians you see in the day but take the boats back to Pattaya by 5 o'clock.

There are 4-5 beaches along the island there which you get to by baht bus or rent a motorbike. Some hotels give you them for free if you stay with them or they are 300 baht for the day, but make sure you ask for a fast one like 125cc as there are quite a few steep hills and my first one was a piece of shit and I almost didn’t make it.
Nightlife isn’t insane but I liked it. By the main large pier named ‘’Tien’’ there are a few places chilled out with live music, shisha, beer towers and Thais with their bottles and mixers. I personally prefer that over wild dipshit Khaosan types jumping around (as Koh Samet has somewhat turned into). I’m not sure how it would be for game or going out at night solo as I was with a larger group of Thai, Japanese, and a few American expats so I would have had a good time regardless.

Accommodation is everywhere from little guesthouses to hotels to bungalows and ranges a lot in price depending, of course on the weekend prices go way up. I stayed in a nice newer bungalow with a motorbike free and breakfast for 1200 on a Friday and Saturday night.
All in all it really is an untouched gem of an island, close with nice beaches, minimal irritants and almost zero beach sellers pestering you to buy shit. I love the cheap travel here, 30 baht for the boat and 150 baht for the bus/minibus. I honestly don’t know how these companies make a profit since fuel is expensive here.

Fuel is often smuggled from Malaysia.

Malaysia is a producer of petrol for the time being, and it also subsidises the price at a retail level at what is below the global wholesale parity price.

Basically its something like $106 per barrel to buy oil anywhere in the world, then add in refining costs, and it ends up at what.. $4.40 a gallon at a retail level in thailand?

Malaysia sells it at like $2.50.. as I said subsidiised. it's just cheaper for Thais to fill up a petrol tanker in Ipoh, then try to get that tanker across the border.

The Malaysian taxpayer ensure cheaper petrol for Malaysians, Thais and Singporeans.

Been reading up in the forum. Lotsa good info. Got a few questions. I'm currently scheduled to be in Hong Kong til Monday but I'm thinking of hitting Bangkok for the weekend..rolling solo.

So here's the deal, I'm an older guy (44) and want to know whether the spots mentioned in this thread would work for someone in my age range. And if not, any suggestions where to hit? For what it's worth, I'm 6' 170lbs, in shape, dress well, etc.

And for hotels, banyan tree and the sukhumvit hilton and Sofitel are all about the same price. Any reason to choose one over the others? Or maybe any other suggestions on another hotel? And what's the deal if I bring a girl back? Will I get hassled, have to pay extra?

Any first-timer tips?

Hotels first, I would go for Sofitel, because it is the newest and it has a prime Sukhumvit location right next to Soi 11. I haven't stayed at Sofitel, but it looks absolutely great from the outside and pics.

It's difficult to roll solo in most Thai oriented spots in Bangkok, age regardless, Route 66 at RCA probably the best bet, but at 44 you will be quite a bit older than almost everyone.

For that reason, I'd recommend staying at Sofitel, then hit up Soi 11 with Levels sometime in the late evening. There's a good mix there of pros and non-pros, definitely possible to get with both. As it gets past 2am you can consider going either to Mix in the basement of Continental Hotel or go across the street to Climax in the basement of Ambassador Hotel. The latter is an almost pure pro-place, but it is possible to shore.

if you look younger you will be fine, I would suggest going to something like Levels and RCA, then if you dont get any luck, id switch to an after hours like Climax/Insomina, they are high in p4p girls though, but if you are fun and nice, they may just want to go with you. The hotels I listed in my blog on the first page should all be good to allow +1 with no problems.

I hear a lot about shoring on these pages when it comes to Bangkok. This isn't a moral issue to me, as just as women should be allowed to sell their bodies if they want to, guys should be allowed to fuck them for free if the girls are accommodating.

That being said, you guys who do some amount of shoring (and I've done it before, so I'm not on a high horse), does it freak you out a little that these girls are banging really undesirable guys regularly. Do you kiss them? Make out with them? Go downtown? No doubt a fair number of guys, including some whoremongers, have made these girls look like a glazed donut, perhaps very recently, so does that enter your mind at all if you make out with them? I'm not saying its a big health risk (though to be sure, there is some curable disease risk and a bit of more serious risk (human error being what it is) though its mathematically not huge, but the basic thought of it, well, wondering what the thought process is.

Do not go to Patong! (in Phuket)

Worst place i've ever been too:
-No meter taxis, controlled by mafia and charge absurd prices to travel short distances
-Nightlife complete shit, was one legit nightclub with a 1000baht entrance fee
-Logestics suck, want to take a girl home? Either get ripped off for a taxi or risk your life riding your own scooter at night. Or walk.
-Whore bars mixed in with normal bars, 10 different bars trying to blast music over each other everywhere
-Strip bars were boring (aren't they all though?)
-Walking street was cringe-worthy, was embarassing just watching it
-Tourists are either ugly or already in pairs
-Literaly 95% tourists walking the street, mostly Russian
-you are treated as a second class citizen if you're a foreigner
-beach sucks compared to other parts of Phuket, saw several rats in one part
-Bartering is difficult, if you barter their absurdly marked up goods they seem to take it as an insult
-Have to shore to get laid
-Food is good, but isn't anything special
-massage shops every 25 metres, gets really annoying MASSSSSSSSSAAAAGGGGEEEE in that high pitched rat droning sound
-Got hasseled for a fucking tattoo at 8;15 at night while i was sitting down in the middle of eating my dinner, seriously
-get hasseled for everything, by everyone
-Everything overpriced
-Complete tourist trap

That's not true at leastnot if you smile, speak some Thai and don't act disrespectful. What happen to you? Most tourists in Phuket only got one or two weeks of holiday and is going in groups with family and close friends. There is lots of stuff to do there and for someone just stepping off the plane for the first time the prices are still really good and the locals are used to tourists and speaking English. So for the right person it's not that bad. But I also hated it. However my friends I where there with liked it. But there is really not many Thai people there either, there is many Indian people working in the restaurants and shops and also Western people working as barkers. I really felt bad for those guys. Don't think that's what they planed when they went to Thailand to stand on the street begging people to eat at their restaurants. I know Thai people escaped from Phuket since they can't take all the tourists.

If you wanna hit on Western girls go should hit up one of the islands like Koh Tao or Koh Phi Phi. If you want to hit on Thai girls you should go to the city's.

I had a fucking blast in Patong a few years ago, and that was before I even discovered RVF, and my game was almost non-existent. 2 very sweet girls from DIA in a few days: one very cute 22yo from an internet cafe, the other - half Chinese 28 yo, also very cute. I'm going to Phuket with my brother when he comes to visit in a month. The key is to stay outside Patong, but not too far. We're going to rent a 3-4 room apartment just outside and then rent motorbikes to drive around the island to the beaches in the north and the south during the day, then drink on balcony and only go into Patong for partying. It's really no different than any mass tourist place, though I agree there are a lot of 'cunts' of all nationalities around. Places with lots of tourists attract shady characters everywhere.

Brodiaga, where did you find the russian girls in Patong? Another group that is worth going after are the chinese girls on package tours, though that may be even more difficult as they are often in fact travelling with parents or in groups with too many guys. I think it's a huge untapped 'niche' in Thailand though. If you rent a bike and stay reasonably close, you're good to go. Russian girls love to ride! Get a second helmet and invite them to come along for a ride with you, then bring them to your place and let them join you for another ride, a different kind.

I don't know where the specific places are to meet Russian chicks these days. I saw them on the beach near Bangla road, on Bangla road, in the shopping mall and at a night club at the beginning of Bangla Rd (Banana? Wtf, can't remember the name). I know they go to night clubs, so whatever clubs are the hottest ones these days, just check them out.

I don't know about Chinese package tourists. Never tried to picked one up, never heard of anybody who did it successfully, but I'm not saying it's not possible. My hunch, though, is that Russian chicks are more DTF especially after a few drinks.

Without trying to sound to racist, Thai girls generally dont like black guys. Its more to do with conditional programming, there white is good while tan/black looks ugly/scary.


I did go to Thailand once with a black friend, I would say just by his skin color he could not get 95% of the girls by default, but the other 5%, he didn't really have to do much. He was dressed super sharp.

I would suggest you join Thai friendly and see what happens once again without sounding racist you will be a niche on there so it may be alot less work with good rewards. Also dress smart, fitted shirts and clothing, that is going to help you too.

I wouldn't say the doors closed for you, because I have seen black dudes with Asian girls in clubs, its rare but not impossible. What you wear will make a big impact, dressing smart/camp borderline gay is good as you come off less threatening.
