In the nicest possible way, am I missing something here? I read the thread twice over and don't get it :-P

I could shag my way through Asia on that for 35 years :-P. At that point I'd be 58 and I'd just jump in the sea if I hadn't figured something out by then.

Now I understand most people here aren't as simple as me.

But still, even if you want some luxury, you could shag your way through Asia on that for 17 years!

Hell even if you LOVE luxury and insist on Albatross sandwiches every lunchtime, you could shag your way through Asia on that for 10 years! By then you'll probably have figured something out. If not, YOLO.

Are they gonna deport you back to the U.S if you don't do it? (Obviously look into that in more detail haha)

Thanks for all of the positive responses on this, guys!

First, a bit of a story on the $2k that ex gets every month. A part of that is child support (likely for another 10 years - ouch!).. I'm not looking to jump ship and not pay child support, but a large portion of that each month is for 'expenses' - since she decided to quit her job, the court awarded her the 'ok' to do that and have me pay 'extra' for those expenses. 90% worth - so now she has my son in all kinds of activities to run up the bill to that average of about $2k/month. When I was a kid, I played outside with my friends - free of charge. So... unfortunately, that debt is court ordered, and if I don't pay, would likely be arrested on return to the country, bank accounts frozen, etc.

Until I can prove she's using that money in a way not for my child, I'm stuck paying that much -- I know she 'wastes' the money - it's a matter of providing legitimate proof. I've thought that I should incorporate an offshore company, work as a 'journalist' or something for that company and pay myself a reduced wage to show the court a lower income.

(Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking to skip out on paying support for my son -- but she doesn't need me covering that much of the cost when she's capable of work too -- the court said it was ok for her to quit her job and dabble with continuing education options, so I should be allowed to do the same).


For some of the other points, South East Asia has been something on my mind for quite some time - as has Eastern Europe... it ends up being what to decide on 'first'... and of course, that "first step" is the difficult one - I am quite confident I'd have an amazing experience, but turning off a regular pay check and booking a one way flight sits heavy on the mind. The brain stirs up all kinds of "what-if" scenarios - and those what-if scenarios are not all positive ones!

Of course, my brain is also grabbing onto all of the typical Western problems too - every tv show I see, commercial I hear on the radio, and the interactions of the typical "couple" walking down the street scream out to me about the pending extinction of "men". (TV/advertising/etc seems to be constantly putting men down: we're stupid, we're lazy, can't think for ourselves, etc.)

Anyway, I'm actually headed to Mexico tomorrow for a couple of weeks of just being lazy and away from the current 9-5 routine, so I'm hoping to gather my thoughts then... and re-read "A Dead Bat in Paraguay" for some additional inspiration from Roosh. The 'vacation' will likely be good inspiration too although I'm not one that enjoys vacations - I'd rather go and be a part of a community for a longer period of time than sitting in a resort for a couple weeks.

Oh.. and I've made at least a baby step towards leaving the Western world... I renewed my passport taking the '10 year' renewal option.


Looking forward to all of your continued replies and inspiration on this idea.

Canada is a NANNY state remember?
If I was you.. I would go back to court and show that your business has ended or go to a therapist and get a note saying your mentally disabled and therefore can't work. Then leave.
If court doesn't agree...move your assets overseas(technically assets aren't surppose to be used to make child support anyway,its not income).
But at least you have a court record on file showing you can't work,run business and that you need to relax. GO to x wife after you move assets..tel her whats what. Let her agree to take less or tel lher you are gone and she will get nothing. If she don't agree leave go overseas. pick up residency somewhere else and she gets nothing.Send some money when you can. if you ever come back, just keep assets overseas. Courts will NOT have any proof that you had income so what will they do?> It means you couldn't pay for xtras. Nanny states don't put people in jail(for long anyway) when there is nothing they can do. Plus you will have your medical record that shows you were deemed disabled!

Here's what I would do. Pay for a GOOD accountant and a GOOD lawyer, discuss how you can reduce the assets in your personal name to as little as possible, maybe even zero. Then legitimately claim you don't have the means to pay that level of child support. Your idea about incorporating and paying yourself a shitty salary is doable, I know friends who have done that, although not in the US. I now wouldn't recommend the "say fuck off to America and never return" idea. Ultimately you are going to want to return to see family, friends and your son some time in the future, probably even regularly.

I don't know how good your relationship with your son is, but you could continue to put that 2k per month into a college fund; something for the good of his education that your ex can't get her cum stained fingers on.

You don't owe 2 sacks of shit to your ex, but you do owe a future to your son.

I would then move to SEA, sign up for some courses on Udemy and start playing around with internet businesses. Not even for the money really, just for something to do. Even if it takes you 2 years before you make any money you still won't be clipping coupons in Bangkok. In fact, you'll probably be in a 5 star suite and waking up to the smile of a different Thai girl every Friday night. As you can see from the replies here, you're in a pretty envious position right now. I myself moved to Asia for 2 years with about 10k in my bank account, and I survived.

Obviously you've done reasonably well for yourself, so it's clear you're not an idiot. You need to lose the idea that you might return home broke and buttfucked with nothing but regret. I think it's more likely that in 5 years you'll own a beachfront bar or surf shop staffed by pretty Asian girls (who you're also banging) and rubbing shoulders with well to do expats on a Thai island somewhere.

Never underestimate how much you can achieve when you pick up your balls and decide to test yourself.

Be careful about moving Assets that the court already knows about- you can land in some hot water. When you start your business overseas it probably go under the radar if structured correctly.

If that is true that child support is only income tested and not asset tested it makes things a whole lot easier. Like I said, get a good lawyer and discuss it with him. It might be expensive, but good lawyers can make miracles happen that are worth every penny.

But if you take up residence overseas, surely this is a normal thing to do? Why would you keep your assets in Canada if you've permanently moved to Thailand?

mcr, like yourself I'm paying about $1500/month in child support. Got 5 years left, and hopefully I won't get stuck with some college bill on top of it as well. I started a thread called "Going on the lam" and there has been some good ideas posted from the forum.

Now I'm not saying you should go on the lam or that i"m going to, but when there's peace it's wise to prepare for war. You've got 10 more years of this shit and we both know the amount can go up from here. And we both know that good lawyers mean shit, when the current zeitgeist is pro-feminine. You could have Johnny Cocorahn raised from the dead and it won't help your plight at all. Would if you killed a couple people, but not with child support. Those of us who've fought in the trenches of Family Court know this. Forget the lawyers, your goal is to stay out of court. You know how much that shit costs.

Gas made a good suggestion on befriending a "male" accountant and very discreetly start moving assets off-shore. My accountant (corporate) is my friend and I will be meeting with him at the end of this month to discuss disappearing. He's had clients successfully do it and you just never know when you might need to.

I would never threaten your ex with leaving the country. She'll have the court yank your passport. Andy Dufresne never threatened the Warden he would escape. He just did. Be very shrewd, stealthy, and quite. Spend the next couple years patiently sharping your ax. I'm sure the suffering we have been enduring all these years will have some redemption at the end.
