Right here, in Google Trends' chart of searches on "diamond engagement ring"

As you can see, we left our nearest competitors, Australia, in the dust, searching this topic 48% more frequently than our cousins Down Under.

If you click on the US to break it down by state, it's mostly Promise Keeper White Knight red states + the East Coast.

Also note that interest in diamond engagement rings was steadily declining for years before the recession hit, but since 2011 has been back on the upswing.

Have you considered the fact that most other countries most people don't speak English? No Italian is going to be searching in English for a diamond ring. Also, I'm not sure if the data is per capita or whatever but the US is the largest english speaking country so of course it would have the most searches for "diamond engagement rings". Finally, getting married doesn't necassarily mean 'beta'. It usually does, but there are also 45 year old guys who have 100+ notches and now want to have kids and just relax. If Roosh settled down in ten years and got married and didn't end up divorced, would you call him beta?

Marriage has been the standard for thousands of years. In fact you weren't considered a man until you were married.

There's also a quote from the Godfather where Vito asks Michael if he spends time with his family because "a man that doesn't spend time with his family can never be a real man".

Lol yes, Google Trends already takes into account "per capita or whatever"; they're not programmed by 7-year-olds.

Knowing what we know about Italians and their game, it's highly unlikely that they're engagement-ring crazy. If you just check "engagement ring" vs "anelli/o di fidanzamento," the ratio of searches in English to Italian last month was 64:1, which is much greater than the ratio of English to Italian speakers.

When I think of engagement rings, I think of what a great publicity scam DeBeers has for themselves in suggesting that an engagement ring must equal X months worth of salary.

One of the best business ploys ever. It's a damn shame how many men have fallen for it.
