She gave an invalid number - Send her a Facebook message?
So this Sunday I met a girl at a bar. Throughout the night she kept approaching me, or just standing in my general direction even if she had no purpose being there. After some dancing we made out. At last call I couldn't get her to come home with me, but she gave me her number and told me she wanted to hear from me, and continued kissing me afterwards.

So I text her tonight, and immediately after I get a text from AT&T: "Error, invalid number." I'm assuming it didn't go through, so I tried a few fixes, but the problem still persisted. The name she put in my phone was her first and last name, and I was able to find her on Facebook. The question is, would it be in poor taste to send her a message over FB provided her number isn't right? Or should I just take the hit and move on?

My personal belief is that you don't have much to lose by doing it. If she responds positively, good. If she responds negatively, fuck it.

I'm in disagreement. I say keep your dignity. There's millions out there. She would have given you a valid phone number. And even if she didn't, if you have to find her on facebook, she might revise her mental history to convince herself that she did it on purpose.

Yea, I'd say don't do it. Facebook is generally frowned upon in any way shape or form around here anyways. Just find another one.

Very true. As of this point I'm assuming the text didn't go through, since I got the error message less than a second after hitting the "Send" button. But who knows, maybe she received it and she'll respond back.

I don't know much about smart phones, but I've never seen this kind of error message before. I remember she kept asking me for my number, as well, but I didn't reciprocate. Who knows, she might've made the first move in that case.

I'm taking the go-for-it side of things since I had a problem like this last night. It turned out that it was my own fault, that's why.

Texted a new girl last night about New Years, trying to start a conversation. I got an error message on my phone and thought she gave me the wrong number. Compared the number I had with a friend, turns out one of the digits was wrong. In the past I've been a stupid fuck and asked girls for their numbers on Facebook, after I had forgotten to write them down or something. I never got negged for it by them.

The Facebook thing might've worked because I'm assuming she knew your friends, and therefore you had pre-selection. The girl in my situation is a stranger (Although we have a couple mutual FB friends), so it would probably be a lot more shocking for me to just friend her/message her out of the blue.

Just fire off a facebook message, it can't hurt.
If you don't get the bang, who cares? If you do get it, then it was worth the message.
At least facebook doesn't charge for messaging (yet).

RE: She gave an invalid number - Send her a Facebook message?
Are you sure it wasn't she who sent the error message?

Don't friend request her, just send a message and say this:

Yo wassup, lets get married. Just kidding. You only typed nine digits of your number so I couldnt text you after we met. Bummer. Here's my number: NUMBER. Shoot me a text so I can call you later this weekend.

Or, of course, you can just message her and say the truth.

Go for it. The number error is probably an inadvertent mistake.

RE: She gave an invalid number - Send her a Facebook message?
So an update: I wondered if she hit the wrong buttons when entering her number. The local area code starts with a 9, but the area code she entered was identical, except she put a 6 as the first number. I tried the local area code with the number and it went through. No response so it might not have been sent to her.

Anyway, this is too much worrying about a drunk chick who couldn't get her number right. It's time to next her. Maybe I'll see her there next week, and if not then so what.

Poor taste or whatever, it's probably a lost cause, why not throw a hail mary?

As long as you don't obsess about it, and focus on getting other broads, some low percentage shots won't kill your game.

Just message her "invalid number".

Do not friend her.

RE: She gave an invalid number - Send her a Facebook message?
I'm pretty sure Facebook doesn't let you message people you're not friends with without charging .99$. You can message them, but it will get put in another folder"other" and she won't get a notification for it. So unless she routinely checks her other folder, it's a lost cause. So either pay the 99 cents.. (I have sadly) or friend her. I don't think you're losing any dignity, if she's not into it she doesn't have to accept you

If you message someone on fb that you're not friends with, it goes into their "Other" inbox that they may or may not see.

might as well go for it man. Drunk girls sometimes have trouble typing. I remember back in the day when touchscreen phones were brutal for this

That's true, I didn't remember that until after I made this thread.

Well it's been a week anyway and I got over her. On to bigger and better things. Next!

EDIT: I also wanted to add that it's amazing how far I've come in my young life. In college I got the tinglies and fell in love with a girl if she even talked to me. If she even KISSED me then I was obsessed with her and couldn't stop thinking about her. Now I make out with a really cute girl, think about her for a bit, and then realize she's just one fish in a sea of millions and that she's not special. 18-year-old me NEVER would've imagined me getting to this point.

Nice going man, it's amazing how much growth we are capable of. Also, the player wisdom of not trying too hard for any one particular girl is gold. That shit punctures your game by making you way too invested in one particular girl who may or may not deserve that level of thought.

RE: She gave an invalid number - Send her a Facebook message?
Well, I've got an update: A user on here had a way of reverse-searching numbers and suggested a new area code to try. I don't know if I got her, but it at least went through and there was a simple response.

Me: so a little bird told me [Musician's name] is your favorite singer (A reference to the night I met her, they kept playing a singer she hated and she kept bringing it up)

Her: Ew!

It's bed time for me, so I'll answer her tomorrow or see if she writes anything else. But single word texts are a hard slope to climb so it might take some work to get something out of her.

How so? I admit I'm terrible at first contacts, so any little bit helps.

@Lex S. The problem is bro, your message to her comes across as tryhard
Unless you have already got a reasonable level of interest from the girl in the first place, this kind of message will get you nexted, and even then, most chicks will not respond well to it, it does have a whiff of beta to it
I'd say move on bro, sound like she's not all that interested
See Heartiste, he's got some great threads on aloof game via text
Another option would be to run MOAB game on her ass, that one could go either way, but has been known to resolve lost causes in the past, and even if it doesn't work, could be a lot of fun to see her outraged response! (cos she will respond)
