First of all, awesome thread!

My point of view is that there is a certain percentage of population (men and women) that don't have qualms about cheating. (Cheating gene?) Think about it, in most cases, it takes some effort to cheat, you have to put yourself in that situation, either on purpose (e.g. you hit the bar after dropping your girlfriend off at home) or by neglecting to take yourself *out* of a situation. Usually, it's not something that just happens... of course sometimes there is the drunken "mistake", but that's the exception, I would say.

Cheating has been around for ever, but having said that, it seems like now women are less likely to face any repercussions for doing it. This has changed female behaviour in last few decades, I think.

I like what "j r" wrote below and agree with him:

Women and men have different roles when it comes to sex. Biologically, men's role is to go after as much sex as they can get (spread the sperm), women's role is to be selective, secure the best mate in order to help her raise the offspring. That's evolutionary biology 101. The other side of the coin is that both men and women get horny, and in our day and age, there is much more opportunity to mingle and meet new people than ever before in history of man.

Then there is the social aspect, as JR commented on. In a relationship, there used to be this social stigma attached to slutty behaviour (flirting, cheating, etc), especially more for women than men. Why? Because women are the weaker creatures in terms of self control, e.i. they can be seduced, aroused to such an extend that they cannot control their emotions. (We all know about that.) Women are (used to be?) very good at slut-shaming their 'sisters' in behaving a certain way, that is slowly going the way of "slut-encouraging". Welcome to the Brave New World!

Anyway, the question of why AntiTrance's chick was cheating on her husband to be is simply because she could. She wanted to have her cake (fuck alpha) and eat it too (marry supportive beta). In the past this wasn't so prevalent (as the repercussions after being discovered were too great for a woman to risk doing it). Now it's different. She can get away with it. She can rationalize her behavior much more readily thanks to feminism and other societal pressures (anonymity, technology). The bigger question is what has marriage become, if women can trample over their vows so readily? And we all know the answer to that one! Buyer beware!

Very true. What I’ve learned in my time in game is that once you own that vajajay, she’ll give it to you whenever you want it, no matter who she is involved with or their relationship status. Sometimes I wonder if there are men out there raising my kids, I recall girls telling me about how serious they are with their boyfriends/husbands, but the ones that I remember most clearly are after unprotected sex.
